Stopped in for lunch with a friend this past week and what a treat! I was surprised - and delighted - that there were so many gluten free options and the wait staff was very well informed about what was available. We decided on the burrata with honey and pear carpaccio for an appetizer and it was delicious. I had a gluten free pizza with butternut squash and kale, and my friend had a regular margherita pizza. We both enjoyed them so much that we almost didn't have leftovers! Everyone was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back! read more

This is a great spot. Could tell it was a lot of locals and regulars. Bartenders Tina and Alehni were super warm and friendly, took care of us. We had a party of 3 at the bar on Easter. * W A R N I N G F A K E L I Q U O R * As someone who has been in the restaurant industry for so many yrs unfortunately this place serves fake liquor. My friend and I stopped by for some drinks and dinner last night. My girlfriend was drinking tequila and I was having wine. Their tequila selection was very limited so my friend had settled for Patron Reposado. With both of us being in the industry we have become extremely knowledgeable of spirts and because of that we both noticed right away not only was the tequila clear (which shouldn't be because it's a Resposdao which means it's aged and because of that it has a dark color to it) IT WASN'T EVEN TEQUILA.!!!! We asked the bartender to see the bottle. As you can see in the picture the bottle says Resposdao but liquor is clear which should not be the case. She agreed with us that the color was off and mentioned maybe that's because someone must've married the wrong bottle. Marrying is a term used in restaurants which pretty much just means consolidating. "Consolidating" is okay if you're doing it with ketchup bottles but not liquor because it is ILLEGAL. My friend and I felt so insulted so we asked to speak to a manager. He came over and right away his demeanor was aggressive. We explained the situation and he seemed to be dismissive of us. He actually said we didn't know our At this point I was furious because this man is insulting our intelligence. I mentioned to him it was illegal that they marry their bottles and put fake liquor into premium bottles. I told him I was going to report the restaurant. He went on to tell me "I don't do well with threats and will put you on the floor" at this point the situation quickly escalated he asked us to get the f%#k out his restaurant. I had a really good time coming here today. For a busy day, the staff really had everything under control. It was my first time dining here. Everything was spotless, workers were very friendly and on their A game. Everyone was really informative and helpful. It's located in an area where I wouldn't expect a lot but I was utterly surprised, both with the service and quality of this place-the restaurant is beautiful from the inside and out. Menu was pre picked (which was great because everything on there was a great option). The food was cooked very well, precisely what I asked for. And even the dessert was cooked to perfection. The waiters were always around, ready to help or make us comfortable which I really appreciated. I highly recommend this place if you don't mind spending a few extra bucks- pricey but worth every penny. Upon entering the well decorated entryway, you are greeted pleasantly by a smiling hostess surrounded by autumnal hued interiors, flowing into ultra high ceilings, dim lights and exposed brick walls. We were guided to the second dining area that complimented the first, but with white table clothed tables, intimate candle lit settings, rounded out with piped in, smooth jazz type vocals cooing remakes of modern pop tunes. Our server, Joseph, pulled out his patience hat for the evening as he tried on several occasions to get us to order our courses timely. We had so much catching up to do, but finally took a moment to peruse our menus and start with our apps. I had the soup of the day, which was a comfortingly smooth Cauliflower soup. Mercedes's Eggplant Timbale with a thinly veiled béchamel sauce was unexpectedly fragrant and hearty. I followed Mercedes's lead, as I wasn't in the mood for a heavy pasta or meat dish. So I ordered the perfectly seared, medium rare salmon atop spaghetti squash, dotted with lightly seared grape tomatoes. The salmon glistened and had a huge punch of buttery flavors. A Very satisfying and enjoyable meal. Early Friday dinner brought me to the real hustle and bustle of Yonkers. Seasonal decor, jazzes up the entrance- leading you to their Bar Area/Room with brick interior and warm tones, flowing everywhere then greeted, by the friendliest hostess. Ms. Bartender gave me a Seltzer with a splash on her while I waited for my friend- thank you!- and seated soon after, in their main dining room. Our server, had all the patience with a smile as my friend and I caught up and ordered- eventually. The Crispy Rice Balls were decent as an additional starter. My eggplant appetizer was divine with the thinnest, sliced eggplant you could imagine in a light Béchamel sauce. Bread Platter was served with rosemary-infused olive oil that was very good- but impulse, took over me and had a couple of slices. Salmon entree on "spaghetti" squash tasted very good. And what can I say about my warmed Chocolate dessert? Except, that it was a sweet ending to my meal. Lighting was excellent and dimmed throughout the course of our early evening into night. And Music selection, was real nice with major pop songs having a (Sirius) 'Chill' vibe. Overall, atmosphere is pleasant. And while Zuppa is not head-to-toe Italian, it has a down to earth feel with decent selections of Italian-esque dishes that were tasty. Made reservations for a party of ten recently at Zuppa's. A text was sent to confirm the date and time. Along with the text, a menu was provided and an option to select for a special occasion was given as this was selected. When arriving at Zuppa, the hostess greeted us and brought us to our table. The waiter came within a few minutes and brought us menus. It was very difficult to read the menu as it was very dark and the flashlight from our phones had to be used to view the food. The menu that was brought to us was slightly different than the one texted. The following appetizers were ordered, burrata, fried calamari, and a margherita pizza. The burrata, and calamari came out within two minutes. These appetizers were only enough for two people so more food had to be ordered as another burrata was ordered as well as a plate of octopus. While waiting for the other food placed, the pizza came out and some of the slices were cooked while others were raw. At first, we wanted to tell the server to cook it a little bit more, but we did not want to cause a scene, so we told them that it was okay. Shortly after bread was brought to the table and the other appetizers as well. The burrata was not the best as it lacked seasoning. Zuppa is supposed to be an Italian restaurant, but there is nothing Italian about this place or the food as no one spoke it. The only thing that was Italian was the bread. We asked our waiter for a bottle of wine and a wine list was brought to us to see the selection they offered. A bottle of wine ranges from $40-50 each. We ordered a bottle of wine as per the recommendation of the server and the owner and it came without a top already opened. They said that we would enjoy it, but it was nothing special. We were surprised to see that for that price it was not even a 1-liter bottle of wine. The server poured a little bit into each of our glasses and when we asked him to put more into the glasses he was surprised. For the main course several plates of branzino were ordered as well as veal, salmon, and a plate of broccoli rabe with pasta. Overall, those who ordered the branzino and veal were satisfied with their meal, but on the other hand those who broccoli rabe and salmon were not. The pasta was cooked perfectly but the broccoli rabe was undercooked as it was hard to eat. The salmon was bland. Tiramisu and cheesecake were ordered for dessert as well as several cups of expresso. When the Tiramisu was brought out it was served in a "cup" but the cheesecake was served on a plate. When this was questioned by the waiter, they said that's how they serve it. That was very strange as why would one be served in a cup and the other on a plate. The table next to us was celebrating a birthday party and they sang "Happy Birthday" to them, and we were also but they did not even acknowledge this for us. Looking for an Italian spot in Yonkers is a bit like looking for a coffee shop in Seattle. There seem to be 2-3 on every block and you know you really can't go wrong with any, but the trick is sorting through the the food to get to the great. Zuppa was good. It was not great. Came in on the evening of a Yonkers Pride mixer which certainly had the energy in the place kept exciting and high. Music was good, vibe was right, but probably too load for a nice dinner. Thankfully the dining room had been walled off to create separation from the more raucous bar side. In the dining room were several intriguing large pieces of art to dazzle the eyes and create conversation. The food, which is at the end of it all, what we really are her for sounded very interesting. Often this is a warning that they are stretching too far to make the food sound good as opposed to focusing on the actual culinary side of the equation. This happened to be the case here. The food was all delightfully serviceable, but it lacked the refinement I hoped to find. Desert was good as well, but to be honest I don't remember what I had so that will tell you something. I don't remember disliking it though, so you've got that... Wow! I have nothing but excellent things to say about Zuppa! I can't figure out whether I was more impressed with the food, the ambiance or the service. I had a glass of rosé wine, an arugula salad to start, salami pizza as my appetizer and and shrimp pasta as my main. Saying that all were delicious would be an understatement. Management checks up on you often, which says a lot about this place. I have friends who have held private events here and rave about the food and service, unlike many catering halls where the food quality diminishes once it's in bulk. I have been bypassing this restaurant for a while now and finally gave it a try. I was sadly disappointed in the food. The food was very bland, I started out with calamari (because, who can't make calamari) and it just wasn't up to par. My entree was the lobster ravioli with a scallion broth but it was missing the broth, and barely had any lobster in it. My boyfriend had the Grilled Branzino which he wasn't to pleased about it, no seasoning. The ambiance was really nice inside, very romantic and the staff was very friendly and attentive only reason I'm giving the 3 stars. very impressed with this place. I had three courses for a family dinner. We ordered some appetizers that consisted of fried rice balls , fried calamari, a meat platter and bread. All of which were fantastic. I then had a kale ceaser salad which was the perfect pre entre dish. For the main course I had the nutela short ribs. I really enjoyed the dish and was able to also try the chicken with pesto which was a nice and well balanced dish. The waiters are very attentative constantly serving water and replenishing drinks and fresh utensils.
