After the toybox room!
Melissa H.

One thing about escape rooms, is that getting to them will always be hard to find LOL its like the escape room starts there! Stumbled upon this escape room just looking through Yelp and wanted to have some fun with friends! We have done a good amount of escape rooms in the past so I guess I have sort of standard when it comes to my reviews. I look at the staff, decor, room puzzles and overall experience. 1. Staff The staff was so amazing and fun! We came in very loud and excited and they definitely matched the energy. Everyone was greeting us with a smile and eager to explain to us the rooms. They were very thorough with the explanation and definitely tried to make it as immersive as possible. Super nice people!!! 2. Decor We did Toybox and Prison and both rooms had really amazing, immersive decor! It was something out of a movie. Once you enter the rooms, you definitely feel immersed and part of your role due to the amazing design and decor! 10/10 on the design for sure! I can tell not one single bit of effort went to waste when planning the designs of these rooms! 3. Room puzzles Cant say much here without giving away spoilers for the rooms, but I would say overall the puzzles were really engaging and tricky enough to make you sit there and think. You know when there's those puzzles that you spend too much time on and next thing you know a chunk of your time is gone? Yeah, one of the rooms definitely had that LOL Toybox has more interactive puzzles while Prison had more technical/thinking puzzles. Thats something to take account of when you're choosing what room fits your preference! 4. Overall experience Loved the overall experience! My group escaped both rooms with about 20 mins to spare in each. I definitely would recommend this for first time escape room-ers because theyre just super fun!! :)

We are a group of beginner escape artists that have done 0-4 escape rooms between all 4 of us. We did the Toybox Escape Room and were slightly intimidated by the posted difficulty level. However, we had a wonderful experience overall. Our room had puzzles that interactive, but also required some skills... our group is comprised of avid board gamers and we thoroughly enjoyed the various mentions and implementation of different classic board game elements & mechanics! We completed the puzzle with time to spare and felt quite accomplished with minimal game breaking hints. Also our game master Mako was very kind, helpful and attentive. We will definitely make a return to check out the other escape room!

We made it! (Only took the masks off for the photo)

My husband and I just finished the Prison Break game and WHAT A BLAST! We have done escape rooms before and this one did not disappoint! The game is really well put together, fun and a great challenge. Also, Grace was working and she could not have been more of a sweetheart and made the experience even better. We will definitely be back.

The prison break room was sooooo good. There was only two of us and we have done about 5 escape rooms and we found it challenging. We needed clues and the host was nice enough to give us an additional two minutes at the end as we were really close. Maybe with a few more people it would have been easier. But it was still one of the best rooms we have done. Tons of clues to find and really unique clues and puzzles.

My group did both Toy Box and Prison! The rooms were very creative, and I especially love how the themes were very different from each other! We were able to escape in both rooms. The staff was very accommodating as well, and seemed very passionate about the games! I definitely recommend if you're looking for escape rooms around the bay!

Came with friends for a fun escape room. We did the toy box which was challenging. I did feel like some of the mechanisms weren't as natural and there was a lag with getting hints but I feel like that is more a technology/gadget thing. Our game master Robin was super helpful and nice Definitely interesting puzzles to solve throughout.

Fun times !

It was my first time doing an escape room and I had such a blast. I honestly had no idea what I was in for since I have only heard stories from other people about these escape rooms. I had so much fun that I'd gladly come back to try one of their other rooms. Check in was quick and easy. It's very clean and tidy inside with some seating. Had to wait about 10-15 mins to wait for the other group to finish their session, but that wasn't a big deal. There are puzzles and games you can play while you're waiting your turn. Once in the room, our guide gave us a briefing of what an escape room is, the rules, what we have to do, etc. She was very informative and answered whatever questions our group had, but overall fairly simple rules to follow. I ended up losing track of time with how consumed I was after the game started. Although, we didn't end up winning, I had so much fun with everyone. After leaving the room I did notice a VR room which looked pretty fun! I might have to try the VR game next time. I highly recommend and I will definitely be back to try other rooms.

Hi is this all VR? Im looking to do a 4ppl room anf intermediate players. Which room do you recommend? I've called about 5 times and have got no response on the phone. Maybe the phone number doesnt work... im planning to walk in tomorrow at 6pm.

Appropriate for 10 year olds?

For one 10 year old as part of a group with older people, yes. Might be too challenging though for a group of just 10 year olds.

We brought 11 rowdy boys and fully expected chaos. Instead, we had a smooth, organized, and genuinely fun experience. Jared explained everything clearly, kept the group engaged, and managed the energy with patience and confidence. What really stood out was his tact. A few kids became overstimulated, and he handled it with such calm reassurance and professionalism. He struck that perfect balance of being fun while maintaining structure, which is not easy with that age group. It's rare to see someone manage that level of energy so skillfully. Management should absolutely recognize him. He represents your brand beautifully. We will definitely be back!

We booked our time and we returned 6 mins late. Then this was when we were told we are too late so we can get a store credit or rebook. The excuse was other people in our group has already started. We didn't doubt this at the time but they have a website to look up scores of the day and we were the only ones playing this game at the San Ramon location. Not sure why we couldn't play then if we were the only ones playing anyways. We rebooked for later the same day after dinner and arrived 30 mins early. It turns out we need to sign waivers and prep time before playing. This should have been basic information given to us or at least let us know we should arrive earlier than your booked time in order to play. Just thinking logically I would want clients to prefill these out prior to their reservations. This would create less friction at start time. The crew setting us up for playtime were very helpful though and after playing they gave us a nice recap experience of our game. This was a nice touch but I wish they would have told us how the photos would be used more clearly. I wasn't even ready when taking my photo and halfway through a blink. The kids liked the game play but adults didn't have a good time. It was dizzying and exhausting to play for me and my wife and $50 a person for such an experience seems high. Would probably stay away and try to convince my kids to do the same.

Our game was the pirate themed Depths of Osiris (check out the preview vids on YouTube), and it was perfect for a team of an adult and two ten year olds. My boys had no trouble getting used to the VR gear they had to wear for the experience (a headset and two hand controllers - it was their first time). We had to cooperate to solve each room's puzzle to unlock a new room. Eventually, we got to the final scenario which was exciting and really required us to collaborate. The puzzles were well constructed and mostly understandable from a logic perspective. The graphics and sound were pretty decent (it's not super-high res like Cyberpunk) and matched the gameplay perfectly. We got some timely tips from the game master too, and cleared the puzzle with about a minute left on our 45 minute timer. The facilities are super clean and well maintained. They also have snacks and drinks which are nice to make the visit special for younger kids. My sons want to come back, and I do too. I also heard they are adding a physical escape room, so definitely something to look forward to.

I've been to Diablo Escapes twice now and have always been impressed by the customer service. Make sure you get there 15-20 minutes early so you have time to finish any waivers and get your packs set up for the room. There is an adjacent parking lot so you shouldn't have any issue finding any spot. You can easily book online and see what difficulty level each game is. If you've done VR or escape rooms before, you can probably start with intermediate. Each game will require some communication and teamwork to solve challenges or other puzzles. It can get a little hectic, so make sure you mesh well with your group (truly). The VR component really makes you feel like you've been transported to another place - be warned that it can make you feel a little queasy if you're not used to it, but the staff are great in making sure you are comfortable. They're quick to help troubleshoot if you get stuck or anything. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun group outing. We went over to philz coffee after and then went to Bare Bottle Brewing for some lunch and drinks.

I only found out about this event on the local news when they did a feature on it and made it look like the coolest thing since sliced bread. You probably didn't know sliced bread was cool, did you? Anyway I was sold, so I got tickets for Jamie W. and me. At first I thought $55 was rather steep, but what do I know about virtual reality? Except that Zuck plowed billions into it with Meta and just laid off 11,000 employees because the public wasn't ready for it. I sure wasn't ready, but this experience made me think I could be ready for an hour's worth of it before I go into sensory overload. As newly designated space explorers, Jamie and I were handed our bulky VR headsets. I have to admit I was amused at the sight of headset-wearing people in a huge warehouse space doing all sorts of random movements. Once our headsets got turned out, however, we were completely immersed into a walkable 3-D model of the International Space Station. It didn't matter if we were walking inside or outside of the station, we were defying gravity, baby. There were lots of floating blue orbs which you bat away in order to see videos of the actual station with astronauts talking to us face-to-face. We also experienced a spacewalk and could see Earth below our feet. I felt like Sandra Bullock in "Gravity" before the debris hit... ...and before George Clooney unplugged himself out of fear of spending eternity with a woman his own age. After allowing us to sit down to absorb the universe around us (and to let the next group come in), we took off our headsets and headed into a Star Trek-like room where Ryoji Ikeda's "The Universe Within the Universe" was displayed in all its kinetic glory. Ikeda's artistic vision was mesmerizing as it spanned from the microscopic to the macroscopic aspects of the cosmos (video: https://bit.ly/3ts6qMq). As we exited, I have to admit I felt a bit of motion sickness, and it wasn't virtual. Regardless, I was so awestruck that I bypassed the gift shop where I noticed they were selling actual View-Masters. This was a pretty awesome experience.
