This is the best pizza in Laguna Beach and OC. Hands down. They have the perfect crust. They even have a great gluten free crust. Nothing about this place is just standard run of the mill. It's a level up. We got the chicken garlic, and I loved it. The mushroom pizza is also really good! Various kinds of mushrooms. The staff is fast, efficient and friendly. I've eaten here over the years and I have to unfortunately say the quality has declined. The pizzas are bland and ingredients are sparse and the crust is very lackluster. On the positive side, if they are serving avocado toaster , that was a home run- probably the best I've ever had. Over the years, my wife and I would get a ZPizza and head to the beach to watch the sunset. Now that the weather is warming, we decided last night would be a good time to once again partake in this tradition. We had one of their Z Works pizzas and were very disappointed. While there were sufficient toppings, none of them had any flavor. It was the most bland, tasteless pizza we've ever had. The pepperoni, sausage, and sauce had no taste whatsoever. The only thing that made it edible was the addition of red pepper flakes we sprinkled on top. I suspect this bland pizza is the result of cost-cutting measures, and they are currently surviving on the prior reputation as a great pizza place. Still, with the current product they're putting out, it won't be long before the word gets out, and their revenue will also be cut, as we won't be spending our money here in the future. read more

I wanted something in the area that was quick, not too busy, and affordable. I also wanted a place to work where i wont be bothered by the noise or the crowd. This was a great choice when I came across this plaza. I didnt want to spend too much, but still get fed enough that i wouldnt get hungry again during my way home. Their gender neutral restrooms are located at the back of the establishment just past the condiments. There is plenty of parking, and lots of space to sit and dine. I sat by the windows at the high chairs and tables. What really got me to like this place was their lunch special is actually ongoing - although it says lunch, it goes on all day - so you get a pretty good deal on a slice of pizza, a half sandwich and a salad or any 2 or 3 combinations of the latter. I have had good pizza there. This is not about the pizza. This is about closing time. They close at 9pm on Sundays so I made a point to get there before that. I walked in at 8:45 and saw the chairs on the tables, counters wiped clean and full close up in progress. I was told that they don't take any orders after 8:20. Why have 9:00 on the sign on the door and on your social media, including here, if for all intents and purposes you really shut down a half hour ahead of that. Whether that's actually the policy or just the blonde curly headed kid I spoke with wanting to finish early or not, I don't know. P.S. I was going to order a large pie. As I walked out, a group of 4 walked in. I wonder if the owner knows how much business they lost tonight. read more

I used to love coming to this place until what happened last time we were there. This event I'm describing below took place before the mask mandate at restaurants was lifted. Already at the entrance, there were signs requiring the use of masks. Even the employee told us to wear masks (which we did). However, as we were waiting, I noticed that the employee would allow other customers to come in without wearing masks. And by customers, I don't mean one random individual who orders and sits outside. I mean... a huge family of 8-10 people coming in all at the same time. By then, we were eating inside the restaurant (obviously, without masks) while this group of people made their order. Not cool, but ooookay. Couple of minutes later, a lady comes in without a mask and with her dog. (Yes, inside the restaurant). She then sits to eat her slices at the table with her dog on her lap. Last time I checked, pets were not allowed in restaurants. Not only it was bothersome that the dog was yapping every 5 seconds, but it was a clear violation of the health and safety code. I approached the employee to ask him why they were allowing some people to come inside without wearing masks. When all of the sudden, the lady with the dog jumped into the conversation and began yelling at me. She was upset that I was questioning the fact that some people were allowed to come in without wearing a mask (again, I was talking to the employee, not her). She even yelled at me the following: "Get out of MY town! Go back to the town you came from!" Her yelling escalated quickly, so I pulled out my phone to record her just in case. And in case you were wondering, I never said a word to her. She continued yelling us to leave (though she ain't the owner) to the point where she ended up pushing me and trying to pull my phone off my hand. Yup! She's ready for the Maury show! Though her behavior is clearly independent to the business, the fact that nobody cared to enforce basic health rules is a huge concern. Nobody from Z pizza asked her to stop yelling, to calm down or to leave when she was disruptive to others nor to wear a mask or to leave the dog outside. From allowing a non-service dog to come in and sit at the table to letting many customers come in without their masks while the mask mandate is in full force (Like it or not, agree or disagree, believe or not believe, those are the rules) is unacceptable, careless, and discriminatory. Today I had a very enjoyable experience with some good buds at the beach. Our many adventures caused us to be quite famished. We decided to keep the good times rolling and head over to a nice burger joint recommended to us by my lifetime friend and partner in crime Cole Jensen also known as J Cole. Unfortunately this place was packed like a can of sardines so we went to zpizza. Little did we know that our lives were about to be flipped upside down. Upon entering we found a family friendly environment with a youthful looking staff. I'm all about giving jobs to the youth of our country. They are very beneficial, they can give kids job experience that is necessary as an adult, keep them from being idle, and give them some cash to go on adventures. But as many of us know, their inexperienced innocence can make them a little difficult to deal with. I ordered my two slices of pepperoni pizza without much difficulty (who could mess up an order that simple) but my friend Emily Earl didn't have it so easy. She ordered a small cheese pizza (which again, is a simple order) but for whatever reason it must've slipped through their heads. My friends Cole, Sarah, Sarah's mother, and I all got our food and were enjoying some pretty dang good pizza, but Emily still didn't have hers. We figured since she had ordered a whole fresh pizza it made sense that it was last. It became more and more apparent that something was wrong. While we were waiting for something that was too much for these gifted youngsters to remember, I had a chance to use the restroom. I discovered almost immediately that it was covered in sand. I thought to myself, "how could someone bring this much sand in here?". Later I discovered my friend Sarah brought that sand in there and I thought that made a lot of sense. Other groups had received their food by now. As we became more desperate, we gave some longing looks toward the staff of the restaurant and they soon realized that they messed up. The cashier came over and said that they were sorry the pizza was taking a long time (I think I should mention that cheese pizza is the simplest of all the pizzas) and they gave us a pizza that somebody ordered and never picked up (Thanks Krissy your pizza was delicious). At long last we got our small cheese pizza and we asked them to put in a to-go box cause we had to scurt. They felt sorry that they messed up so they gave us a $10 gift card. So even though it took us a solid 30 minutes longer we did end up leaving with almost double the pizza we ordered. Overall a solid experience. read more

This was one of my first times ever coming here. My friend used to work here and it was her birthday yesterday so we came in to eat here after hanging out at the beach for a couple hours. Staff was really patient and friendly. It was a Monday afternoon so not many people were there. The store was really clean and organized. Definitely a nice place to sit and enjoy your pizza. We ordered a large pizza with pineapple and ham on one half while the other was pineapple and sausage. It was a pretty good pizza. It was fresh, hot, and ready just out the oven so it was delicious. Very cheesy. Literally the cheese pull never stops. Although I say its good, it isn't the best pizza I ever had so that is the only reason I'm giving it a 4/5. I was working up in Laguna Beach and had a group of guys with me. I decided to order some pizzas (during the Covid-19 pandemic - so pickins we're slim) I was very happy with the store when I arrived to pickup the food. The restaurant was well organized and you could see everyone wearing personal protective equipment and being very cautious. I must have only been inside for less than five minutes. I love Zpizza! Great, upbeat service, excellent menu and tasty pizzas and salads! The prices are a bit high, but the food is high quality and the portions justify the prices as well. They also have specials and coupons which help save. I am obsessed with their salads and that is usually plenty to fill me up and the guys share a large pizza. We ordered our food online for pick up several days in advance. It was supposed to be ready by 6 pm. Didn't get it until 7 pm. Guy running the register was lethargic, uncaring and argumentative. First said I had the wrong pick up time. Then I showed him my pick up time on my email confirmation showing 6 pm. Then he said to come back in 15 min and it will be ready. I came back in 15 and he said they had lost my order. Said he found it and it will be another 15 min. Finally at 7 it was ready. The food is very good in my experience. The service was terrible. Hope to try this place again next time we are in the area and see if customer service has improved. read more
