I have just finished what may be the best sandwich I ever tasted. It was basically a banh mi French dip. The chicken in the sandwich was perfectly seasoned, the veggies crunchy, and the pho broth for dipping was rich and yummy. I love supporting local Vietnamese restaurants so I decided to stop by Saigon Beach after hiking the area. I love that I was able to look up their menu online beforehand and it was exactly what was at the restaurant. Parking was easy in their parking lot. Once I placed my order at the counter, I grabbed a table on the patio with my dog. The patio was nice and cozy with plenty of shade. Dac Biet Special Skillet (4/5) - this dish came out sizzling with two sunny side up eggs, filet mignon cubes cooked perfectly, and some cherry tomatoes. I didn't see any pate, but I might have missed it. The baguette was lightly toasted and soaked up the sauce perfectly. Thai Tea Float with oat milk ice cream (5/5) - I got this drink/dessert on a whim because of the oat milk ice cream. I am so glad I got it. I didn't even know Laguna had vietnamese food, as I usually head up to the Garden Grove area for food. The flavor profile for this place is definitely catered towards the Laguna audience, everything is much more bland than authentic vietnamese food. Everything was just okay. Soups were bland, chicken wings were too sweet and dry, and the fries are just medicore plain fries. The location itself is pretty cute and has its own parking lot. Server was nice as well. I found the outdoor seating nicer than sitting inside. read more

I came to Saigon beach the other day after checking them out on yelp, and it did not disappoint one bit! I ordered the coconut pandan waffles and the sticky rice munchies, as well as a Saigon beer. The pandan waffles were my favorite. They were sweet enough and truly tasted like pandan. The whipped cream was delicious and coconut flavored, and i normally don't even like whipped cream! The sticky rice munchies were tasty and filling. I liked how you could pick your choice of filling. However, I do wish there was a little more put into the presentation of this plate. The service was outstanding; the worker who helped us recommended beers that ended up being amazing. He also offered us water cups, and he was super friendly. I'm excited to try more menu items at Saigon beach and maybe even have a Saigon again sometime soon! read more

Visited them for lunch the other day, and was pretty happy to learn that they have a happy hour from 2-5pm (tues-fri only). This Vietnamese spot has a small parking lot, so you can easily find parking and grab a bite. The restaurant is pretty decently-sized, with ample seating inside and out. There's a sign out front that lets you know to order at the front. Once you order, they give you a number for your table, and they'll bring the food to you when it's ready. We got the crazy rich baos, lemongrass soup, and banh mi dip. The baos were actually so good, and they were part of the happy hour menu! Baos were filled with pickled veggies and grilled pork. The lemongrass noodle soup was also very delicious, and had a nice tangy and spicy kick to it. Prices here are pretty standard for modern Vietnamese places. Our total came out to around $45-50 for the three items. There are a few team members that were working, but everyone was really nice and friendly. read more

Such a nice little authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Laguna right along PCH! It's so nice this restaurant has opened up because I can never find authentic, ethnic and affordable food in Laguna. It's now our favorite little lowkey spot! We came on a Friday summer evening and there was no crowd or lines, so we were able to order our food and find a seat right away. Extremely cost effective for Laguna beach, super convenient and homemade feeling, fresh and healthy and tasty Vietnamese food. Saigon Beach is so delicious! We went on a Sunday late morning. I got the wonton soup, which the broth was incredibly flavorful and the wontons were great, many of them too. My partner had the lemongrass dry rub wings which I would say are some of the best wings I've ever had, and he had the banh mi dip, which was packed with meat and came with a great broth for dipping. We definitely recommend all of these items. The service was also great, the woman working at the front was very friendly. Will absolutely come back soon! read more

This place is over rated. A 2 or lower should be. Food is salty, esp Pho noodle soup, and not tasty. Price is much more expensive than other Vietnamese food. Server/cashier is rude. Actually really good food. I went solo, which is a rarity, and ordered a couple things that the cashier recommended. I got the Vietmanese Coffe/Thai tea combo, and it was really good. I also got the grilled pork bahn mi and the fried egg rolls. It was all good. The eggrolls were nice and crispy with a good tangy sauce and the bahn mi's grilled pork was really flavorful. I know Vietnamese food very well. This place is the worse place I have been. We ordered pork banh mi, tofu mushroom banh mi and vegetarian egg rolls.. I'm not going to go hard on the last two as they are not most typical items at a Vietnamese restaurant. I will comment on the grilled pork banh mi though bc I haven't even so many I can't count. After one bite, I wanted to spit it out. It tasted sooo soapy. There is cilantro (which tastes soapy to some) but I don't have that gene and I actually love cilantro. So I have no idea where the soapy taste came from. And if u r wondering I didn't touched any part of the sandwich so it couldn't have come from my hands... my husband also said his tofu mushroom and vegetarian egg rolls were inedible. We ordered fried egg rolls, crispy wontons, a pork banh mi, a pork vermicelli bowl, pho (traditional soup), chicken curry, passionfruit mango limeade, and Thai iced tea. The food here hits a craving when you need it. There's not a lot of these type of restaurants in the area so I'm glad that it is here. The outdoor patio seating is pretty cool with a side of hipster. The few times I've been it seems like they are understaffed because most of the tables were not bussed so we just ended up bussing our own table outside so we can sit down. Pretty much all the dishes we ordered was pretty good with one exception. I think the papaya salad is super bland so I would not recommend that particular dish here. read more

Cute casual spot for Vietnamese food in Laguna Beach! It's fast casual, so you place your order at the counter and they'll bring your food to your table. The day we visited, the kitchen was slammed. They may have been down a person in the kitchen because everyone seemed to be waiting for their orders. Luckily, we were in no rush and the other customers didn't seem bothered either. After at least 30 minutes later, we got our food, and the dishes came flying out of the kitchen to the other tables that came after us, so I guess we just got unlucky with our timing. I got the grilled pork banh mi, which was good. It had a lot of pork. It was a little light on jalapeños and cilantro, which was fine by me because I prefer a light touch with those ingredients. For post Xmas day trip decided to visit Laguna Beach with my daughter. Strolled in the beach very lovely and decided to eat Vietnamese. Check out Yelp and this place has a great review. We walked for a mile to reach this place and it's worthy. The restaurant was very casual. You order and pay and choose your own table . We sat outside and inhale ocean breeze. The outside patio was a little outdated. The dishes were delicious. Naman fried chicken wings with sweet and savory sauce were marinated well. You can taste it even up to the bone. The spring roll with shrimp and avocado were fresh and shrimp was big. The sauce made it so good. The pork belly lollipops were bomb. It was so crispy yet not too oily nor fat. The sauce and crispy onion added the final touches to your palate. The curry tofu was ok. It has a lot of root vegetables that we enjoyed. The papaya salad was good also just needs acidity and a little kick of spiciness. Overall the food experience was mouthwatering . Be back for sure. read more

On Friday, 6/19 I came in for lunch at 12:15pm. Their website and several signs at this restaurant showed it to be open from 11am to 8:30pm. But it was locked up and no explanatory notices. Not a good practice for any visitors, much less locals who eat there often. Disappointing! read more

Like the little coves and hideaway beaches this felt like a hidden gem. Spent some time at the beach away from the masses and we were hungry! The menu was limited, but had what we wanted, pork Banh Mi, papaya salad, and bao/sliders. The Banh Mi by far was the hit, 10/10. Not too much bread, loaded with delicious-not fatty pork, and a good amount of veggies. Next time I'm here I'll request jalapeños, since there was a scant amount of those and I would have liked that extra heat. The papaya salad was decent, flavorful dressing, and it made me feel healthy, 7/10. It would have been better with more peanuts and jalapeños or some kind of spicy veggie. I'm weird about Bao or Buns, I don't really like the texture of the bread, but I keep trying. The beef Bao were delicious, I loved the flavor of the meat, completely different spices and good veggies. 8/10, probably 10/10 if you're a Bao fan. I wish we could mix and match on the 2 for $12 special since I really wanted to try the Chicken, guess I should've paid the extra $2. On the whole the prices were very reasonable, especially for this neighborhood. Service was good, food came out very quickly with fun crunchy snacks on the side. The ambiance was simple and clean. Wanted to grab a bite to eat after a hike in Laguna Beach and saw this place and knew it was going to be so good! The banh mi had amazing flavor as well as the pork egg rolls, which came with a delicious sauce. I would say the banh mi is a bit smaller than usual ones that i've had. The thai tea was also delicious but somewhat of a small serving for the price. There was plenty of seating inside the restaurant as well as a patio in the front with some tables.
