I've been looking into lots of natural make-up lately, and unfortunately I am not impressed with Zosimos Botanicals. :( With such a wide selection of natural, vegan products, I expected more. I ordered some samples of their lipsticks, foundations, blushes, and a new brush kit around midnight on 3/14 --- and didn't receive them until 3/24. I was one day away from calling to cancel the order! They said they were 4-5 days behind in shipping, but 10? And with SAMPLES shipping from Maryland to Illinois??? My order consisted of: Eco Friendly Vegan Bamboo Brush Set Cinnamon Ministick lipstick Pristine Finishing Powder Minipinch Dahlia Blush Minipinch Hibiscus Blush Minipinch Peach Blush Minipinch Honeycomb Foundation Minipinch Bamboo Foundation Minipinch Dahlia Ministick lipstick Garnet Ministick lipstick Peachfuzz Ministick lipstick Terracotta Spice Ministick lipstick Black Cherry Minigloss Clear Minigloss Rattan Foundation Minipinch Their samples are the most expensive I've seen at $3.00 each. The mini lipsticks (ministicks) weren't even all the same size. Some contained less make-up than the others. I felt a little gypped. Also, all of the lipsticks smelled like crayons and were really drying. The Black Cherry Lip gloss that was advertised on their website as a strawberry red shade, definitely is NOT. More of a Plum at best. The foundation and blush comes in tiny plastic baggies that contained enough for maybe two foundation applications and three blush applications (this I was okay with). As far as the foundation was concerned. All of the shades I got were too light (Honeycomb, Rattan, Bamboo) and I think I'm more into their deeper tones (Toasted Almond, Roasted Chestnut, Cashmere), however I do not wish to pay three more dollars per sample and wait another two weeks for delivery. On the good side, the blushes turned out okay. The peach gives me a just tanned sultry summer look, and the Dahlia and Hibiscus make beautiful light pink/red pink looks respectively. The brush set, although expensive I liked very much as it is made from soft vegan fibers, recycled metal, and bamboo, and comes in a natural cotton and hemp cosmetic roll with tie closure. Great for traveling! Although I like the blushes and brushes, I don't know if I will order anything from this company, as they do not allow for returns and I was not impressed with most of there products. I will try Alima Pure as they have $1.50 samples, and 100% Pure which does not offer samples themselves, but has a 30 day return policy. I ordered the bamboo foundation back in January and it was perfect color for my face. It was a perfect match for my skin tone. Then I ordered the exact same product again but this time the foundation is really dark and orange. Very inconsistent. Not happy with the product. I know that they make the product by hand with fresh ingredients. So they made my foundation incorrectly. I've emailed the company on the inconsistency but haven't received any response back. Why? Where is my customer service. Seems like there is no customer service which means bad customer service. Do they not care about their customers or should I say now former customer. I've used Zosimos Botanicals products for 3 years and have not been disappointed! I especially recommend the lip balms, of which I've tried almost all flavors and enjoy the lightweight consistancy. I love the body butter in Vanilla Bean! I have not had any issue with the lip products, I've used both the lipsticks and glosses. I really like the flavors of the glosses! I want people who are serious obout their cosmetic safety to use these products. I have purchased them for a good while now. I realize that some people wish that the formulas were different. I want to talk about the lipsticks. They are not drying at all. The wonderful waxes that are used are in fact moisturizing and serve to keep the lipstick on for a good amount of time. Many of the other "safe" cosmetics do have more oils (less expensive), less of the nice wax, more slip, but they disappear very fast and melt into the lipline. They end up more like balms and you actually ingest these. If you want more slip, just put on a nice layer of balm underneath. The pictures Linda uses of the actual lipsticks and pencils are the most accurate, more accurate I have found than the color chart. The pictures are more like how the formula looks on the lips. I did have a problelm with Dahlia as it is so light, almost nothing, yet it looked colorful. For those who want intense color, the deepest really last. The soaps are incredible !!! The cheek and lip tints are lovely, but don't be afraid of color as they do disappear. read more

Hello. I have been a customer of this company for many years. I am impressed at the trial sizes that this company has. The inventory is enormous. The trial sizes last a long time. Zosimos makes you look younger with mica instead of making you look shiny and trying to look like a teenager... . The only drawback to this company is that sometimes you have to wait a few days to receive your order. The reason: your order is MADE TO ORDER: there is NO STOCK lying on the shelve.. Everything is made to order in a wind driven eco friendly shop. How wonderful! That is the only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 due to the wait time . I have a tracheostomy and cannot tolerate many cosmetic brands I am a critical care patient and am quite allergic. . Zosimos is one of rare brands that I can wear. The price points are very fair. The trial sizes are a good way to start, and you cannot beat those prices. I hope that you all give Zosimos a try. I bet you will be a long standing customer as I am... Seven years ago I could not wear ANY colored eyes shadows. Even the high end products caused irritation. I was very depressed, until I read an article about chemical free products. I slowly began to research possibilities which eventually led me to Zosimos. Not interested in wasting even more money, I was very cautious about trying products from them. I started by buying the samples offered. As I had consistent success, I tried more and more products. Now I have a fun array of colors included in my makeup and do not hesitate to try new ones. I am CONSTANTLY getting compliments on my eye shadows! The owner/formulator even accomodated a special request I had for a certain color. Amazing! I love this company and the personal service I have always received whenever I have had a problem. Buying chemical free products is like buying organic produce. I do not want them to be made up ahead of time (so I order accordingly and do not mind waiting a bit longer if need be) and I take extra care of them in the Southern California heat. I care about what I put in my body and on my body. Our make-up not only dates us, it can make us sick. First off let me tell you that I am a girl who LOVES makeup and has fun with colors and styles. So I've always used good quality makeup in the past. But in my quest for switching to natural everything - cleanser, face cream, hair care..., I had a hard time finding a good completely natural foundation that looked good and that did not make my skin itch. I found this with Zosimos! So far, I mainly use their cosmetics. I started switching over to natural cosmetics early last year (2010) - so I've been using them for just about 2 years now. I love that they are completely natural! Many other "natural" cosmetics are not. ** Face - Foundation / Color Fixer / Finishing Powder / Setting Mist ** It did take me a few tries to find the right foundation color. I found one that was very close, but the tone was still a little too red. So I also use the Buttercup color corrector and the Pristine finishing power. The setting mist really helps to blend everything together. I love that it is all natural. Although it feels light on the face it really provides excellent coverage. It provides a very natural look. Plus unlike other mineral cosmetics - it did not make my skin itch. Also, other mineral foundations got darker on my skin as the day progressed - Zosimos' did not. ** Bronzer ** During this past summer I had switched back to my old brand of foundation since I had some left from when I had more of a tan before. Once it ran out and I went back to my Zosimos foundation I realized that I needed a little more color but not enough to go up a shade. So I tried the Bronzer - it was perfect! Now I have a natural looking suntan glow. ** Lipstick / Lipgloss ** The color selection is really nice. I tend to wear berry/wine colors and the ones that they have are really excellent. I like how the lipgloss really is more like a stain. Not too "glossy." Some people might not like that, but it is perfect for the day. I love the depth of color and consistency of the lipsticks. These are great for going out and evening. As with most things - you get what you pay for. The prices are a little high - but most good cosmetics are. With Zosimos however you are getting natural quality cosmetics - to me that is worth every penny. It does take a little time for the ordering process, but with that knowledge I order accordingly. Also it might take ordering a good number of samples to get the right color and combination of foundation - but in the end it's worth it. I would highly recommend their cosmetics! read more

I love the mineral foundation from zosimos botanicals! it's really light on my skin so it doesn't clog my poors. it blends really well and gives a nice natural glow. The eye liners are also really great! I haven't tried anything else from them yet, but I love the large selection of colors they have for lip and eye make-up. I don't recommend the concealer or the liquid primer. The liquid primer doesn't see, to serve it's purpose and the concealer doesn't blend well when covered with the foundation. Over-all I love Zosimos =) I could easily get carried away trying all their samples, which last a while as well read more

I agree. You would expect their products to be much better, keeping in mind that they are not cheap at all. I only tried the eye pencils and they are too soft. They break all the time, they are blunt regardless on how much you sharpen them and they leave smudges. Too bad. read more

I will have to disagrree with all the reviews above. My shipping took about 2-3 days. I own 14 eyeshadows and their colors are very pigmented. They have a variety of matte colors to shimmer colors. I also own their blush and bronze set and I must say it's my favorite I wear it almost everyday. And on tip of it everything is vegan. Please check them out. read more

I searched for a safe, chemical-free concealer for a long time but wasn't happy with most mineral cancellers in powder form. I was thrilled when I found that Zosimos created a smooth, cream concealer that was well-reviewed by Environmental Working Group. I have been using this concealer for quite some time now and love it. Each time I order it, the quality has been consistent. It arrives in a timely manner and the shipping charge is very reasonable. I have also been happy with customer service. Any messages I have left have been returned promptly and Linda has been so nice to do business with. She even called once to make sure that someone had returned my phone call. I wish I could give this company zero stars! First, the products really aren't high quality; honestly, I'm genuinely surprised that this company is still in business when there are so many wonderful lines (and for far less). The lipsticks, for example, are extremely dry like chalk. Second, my main issue is with the owner and my experience with her. I bought a sample of the foundation and thought it was ok, I was looking for a mineral powder (now I use Bare Minerals Serum foundation because the powder-type is too drying for me, as I no longer have oily skin). I then went back to buy the full-sized product. I made the purchase in cash (got no receipt!). The owner then told me that she had changed the formula. I was shocked she told me this AFTER the transaction. I went home and tried it and disliked it. I went back and asked if I could get a refund because she told me about the change after the fact; she said no that she can't do refunds. I asked why, as she is the owner. She said I just won't do it and closed the door on me. I used to live about an hour away and drove there. VERY poor behavior, in my opinion. read more
