I've been to Sephora a handful of times and I usually don't enjoy visiting the Rio Crown location because it doesn't feel very welcoming. No one really speaks to you or offers help. I typically prefer going to the Pike & Rose or The Mall locations. However, today my daughters needed to run in and I decided to stop by despite my usual experience. I want to take a moment to acknowledge one of the sales associates, Ashley. After three other associates walked past us without engaging, Ashley came over, greeted us warmly, and made us feel welcome. Her kindness and personal attention really stood out and made our visit enjoyable. This isn't meant as a complaint about the location overall, just a shout-out to Ashley for going above and beyond. Never will I ever walk in here again. I wanted to learn how to put eye lashes on And buy some foundation. I needed help matching. I'm totally ignored and ask the manger for help. I've waited 15 minutes for a person to help me. Finally a guy who looked 15 but was actually early 20 s to help me. He says he doesn't know how to do eyelashes. I didn't feel confident in him touching my face or choosing Foundation. I'll never ever shop here again. I ran over to cvs and picked a few foundations. They let you return if it's the wrong shade. 3 out of 4 I chose were perfect. Confession : I'm a grown woman with no clue how to do her makeup as a grown woman. I had one beauty lesson as a rising 8th grader and that's been it. That's where Sephora comes in. I went for a beauty lesson with Amiee yesterday to learn current techniques and how to update my look as a 30 something year old woman. She was soooo patient with me. I didn't love all of the products used but I learned a lot and purchased some. I never felt pressured to buy anything and she asked my opinion several times during the lesson. It is located near Paladar Restaurant. It's a lot smaller than the ones at the mall. For the most part, employees are ready to help you which is good. However, most of the items I was looking for was not available at the store. However I was able to find other items on my list. The MUA was on point in helping me find the perfect foundation to match my skin tone, and suggested a new mascara to try. Def coming back to this location. read more

I had no idea there was a Sephora located in Downtown Crown but I am happy I found it. I'm giving it 3 stars because of just how nauseatingly HOT it was in the store. I stopped by today and the weather outside was roughly 55 degrees. The store was BLASTING their heat. This ultimately brought down my experience as I wanted to turn around and leave. I decided to just stick it out because I really needed a couple products. I could not enjoy my time shopping/testing products because I felt like I was going to pass out. Not exaggerating, they ended up opening the doors to let air in after multiple people complained. However: 1. Employees: Customer service was amazing! I talked to two different employees who were very friendly and happy to help. Usually I feel intimidated to ask Sephora employees for help but I was pleasantly surprised. 2. Products: They didn't have a lot of the products I was looking for in stock. This was quite disappointing. Most of the "mini's" had obviously been ransacked through as they were sold out or low stock on the majority of the products. I like to see stores with a plentiful inventory. 3. Location: The location of the store is good as it's on the corner however you are left to park on the street. There is a parking garage down the street and around the corner so it is a little bit of a walk. I didn't mind as weather permitted. The store is across from Ted's Bulletin. All in all, I was extremely happy with the customer service I received but could not believe just how hot they kept the store especially considering they stand and do clients make up. Never buying this again!! I got some "Drunk Elephant" for my daughter's Sweet 16 because I saw it all over my Facebook and it looked "trendy", my daughter LOVED it!! But the next day her skin broke out and her face was red, we thought it was an allergic reaction so we went to the doctor. Turns out there were chemicals in the product!! A positive Sephora experience! Always been terrified of being color matched to a foundation shade and being pushed items I don't want. I typically end up shopping online or browsing the store without talking to anyone and buying what I've thoroughly researched. Well, I needed help to get the *just right* foundation: not matte because of the oily parts of my combo skin, and also not super glowy for the oily parts of my combo skin (uch). Also, not full coverage, will look good in pictures (wedding!), and cruelty-free. Went in with my friend and immediately someone greeted me and asked me if I needed help with something. When I said I needed help getting color matched, she added me to a list of people waiting for a make up artist on an ipad and said they'll call me when they're ready. We walked around for maybe 5 minutes and the make up artist came to find me. She listened to what I needed, matched me, and went straight to business. We only had to test two, after the first one she listened to what I liked/didn't to go to the next one. Super quick, helpful, but not pushy. When I need to get re-color matched in the summer for the actual wedding foundation I'll be wearing, I'm definitely coming here :D read more

A positive experience at this new Sephora location! Very thankful I don't have to travel to Montgomery Mall for any last minute products or touch ups. I stopped in for a mini makeover of the Fenty Beauty before a birthday event and loved all the products they used on my face! I came in on a Sunday afternoon with a few friends. There was maybe 6 customers in the store with 10+ people working. Usually this would be a good thing so everyone could be helped quickly, but every corner I turned an associate got in my face and said: "Do you need help?" "Can I help you?" "What are you looking for?" I politely said no to each person that asked, only to have one just stand behind me and hover. Then each time I picked an item up: "Oh that product is great!" "Have you tried that before?" "Can I hold that for you?" I said no more times than I could count and still no one would allow me to shop for 5 minutes in peace. I came in knowing exactly what I wanted and it should've been a quick trip. But eventually I put down my full basket and left. She made me feel welcomed as soon as I walked in- she's super friendly and personable! Someone who grew up with eczema and dry skin, I am always self conscious about people looking at my skin. Always do a return transaction on its own. Associates do not offer full disclosure regarding returns. Young lady on Wednesday was so irritated that I needed to do a return and a transaction that she put it all on the same ticket. Came to return a couple of things today, I was given a store credit. Annoyed, I called headquarters to learn that the store credit for $41.02 is only valid for 30 days, SO SHADY!! In both cases, Wednesday and today Saturday, that full disclosure is not something Sephora is about. I immediately turned the car around to get a gift card that has no expiration date. $41 is a lot on a store credit. Luckily, it's Christmas. I dont shop at Sephora typically, but thought my daughter and I would try Fenty and The Ordinary. Reminded that they are NOT the only game in town. Ulta is much better, and shopping for The Ordinary is so much better to shop online, especially during this month @23% off until the end of the month. My last time at Sephora. Peace! read more

The customer service at this location is lacking. On my last visit, 1/2/2020, to this store there were several associates working and the store wasn't busy at all. Yet I received no assistance. Even when I was standing at the touch screen looking for a product, 2 associates came over to retrieve something from drawers that were under that tough screen I was working on. Neither one of them asked me if I needed any help. And finally the one associate who I believe was the manager who I did ask for help was extremely rude. The customer service at this location desperately needs improvement . I've actually have had to call into the sephora customer service a few times for various incidents. I've experienced employees close the store 20 minutes early, refuse to order a product online when it was out of stock in store, and also say that they do do not carry an item and 10 minutes later I find it in the store. . A manager was suppose to reach out to me and never did. I would just drive to another location. read more

I love how convenient this Sephora is, but at the moment I felt like even if this is a small location compared to the one inside the mall, I still feel like they have such way to short of staffs. I can in here the first time no one really said hi or offer any help besides ignoring me. The second time I came I wanted to try to find the new full coverage foundation and want the makeup artist to help me with this and because of the shortest of staffs I waited 1 hour 45mins and by the time I got help and be done, it was like 10:30 and I left the store at 1:05 pm. The lady who help me was nice but she seems new, she kinda doesn't really know what to do as I'm guessing! I left with my un blended face foundation with make my face look so pale like a sick person with darker neck! But she was nice and sweet though, she know that I was waiting way to long. I ended up didn't buy the foundation she recommended me because it just doesn't seem right to my face (Don't even mentions about the face coverage) I came back the 3rd time as I wanted to get the some sort of cleansing that she used on me (combination of dry and oily skin) and actually make my face feel so so good ! This is my first visit to the new Sephora store in Downtown Crown. It is clean, they have ample of natural lighting in the store which could help when you're swatching out makeup products. What I really like about this store? The staffs! I came here to get recommendations for night cream, and Amanda the Skin/Beauty associate helped me through the entire process! This Sephora location is really nice. Its good to have a close medium now that isn't Montgomery mall or Frederick esp when you live in between. The only thing I hate about Sephora in it's entirety Is the bogus use of points I can't tell you how sick I am of being able to exchange points for stupid samples as opposed to a gift card or discounts towards make up I actually already use like ULTA does especially when half of these brands are sending free samples to be given out for free as sample's anyways thats annoying, having to spend money and earn points only to trade in your points for samples? It doesn't make any sense to me the money this tore makes plus the cost of make up in generally they can do better then points for samples is all im saying other then that sephora is cool for my regular make up needs that cant be found at ulta. read more

I came in on a Saturday, lucky for me they were able to fit me in to get my makeup done (I was going to a wedding), they were completely booked. Ladies i recommended you book in advance! I was pleased with the friendly staff and the warm welcome as I walked in and happy that it finally opened so close to home. I was BLOWN away on how amazing my makeup looked, Rebecca did an incredible job! She had a great personality and made sure I was happy with my makeup throughout the entire process. She was extremely knowable about all the items in the store and what she was using during my make over and also told me everything she was applying before doing so. I have a beauty insider account and she linked up every item that was used so I could reference back to it and buy more items in the future. I usually buy most of my makeup online and stick to what I know, however I definitely will be going back and asking for Rebecca's help again and great makeup tips! read more

This store is very neat and organized with multiple options and the staff seems friendly. The reason why I gave the store only 2 stars is because no one ever came to assist me with my make even after the initial person who greeted me told me that one of her "beauty consultants" would be with me shortly. Additionally, the initial person who greeted me seemed as if she was distracted or either had an extremely short attention span as she was looking wiring during the conversation and didn't appear to be fully present. This is probably the reason why I wasn't assisted. She also attempted to throughly talk me out of the brand that I came into the store for, and was aggressively pushing another line. Maybe today was an off day as I can see this location received 4/5 stars. However, I doubt that I'll be returning to test this theory. read more

I went for color matching for foundation and there were many staff just standing and talking to each other. No one approached me. I had to look at one of them in the eye to get attention. I showed her my current foundation and that I wanted a match in either Tarte or Bare Minerals. She suggested I talk to the make up artist there. She took me to her and the make up artist was so rude and said I'm busy and that you have to wait until I clean my makeup brushes! I was appalled! I waited patiently until she was finished cleaning her brushes. Then I showed her my current foundation which was a perfect match but I wanted to go more into the natural brands because of an eye infection I had. She said I can't match it with your foundation that's not the way we do it. She used the match finder and plugged in my foundation and shade and was given the the so called "exact" shade in bare minerals and tarte. We went over to test them and neither foundations worked! Too yellow for my skin. Then she said rudely "if you choose to go natural this is all we have". I told that I am not choosing but that I have an eye infection. I left feeling so intimidated and so upset at her behavior and attitude! What customer service Sephora! I will not be returning to that store! read more
