I've stopped by a few times, right when they open and around noon on weekdays. It hasn't been super busy and orders are coming out quick. I'm hooked on the pistachio latte. The cream on top is the perfect level of sweetness and balances the coffee beautifully. Priced at $7, really can't complain. I've also tried a classic blueberry muffin. It was fresh and a great bite. Literally, the only reason I haven't tried their borek yet is because I've gone in looking for a quick, small bite and their portion sizes are quite large! IMO, Mazra put this sleepy town on the map and is one of the few food destinations in San Bruno. With many accolades including being recognized by the James Beard Foundation, their sister bakery, Zörek was hella promising. Zörek, a Levantine Bakehouse & Café opened in early April and apparently *something* happened, they closed for several weeks and reopened again later that month (visited on their second week of reopening). This was good but I felt like the pistachio flavor was not very prominent even after mixing, and I realized that the pistachio butter didn't really dissolve into the drink that well so I was left with all that when I finished the drink. Not sure if I just didn't mix it well because the pistachio taste was definitely there in the butter. Decided to also pick up the Spinach and Feta borek! This was larger than I expected (in a good way), especially for the price. It was simple but still flavorful. I'd definitely get this again next time I'm here. Finally stopped at Zörek in San Bruno after driving past countless times saying "someday." Today was that day--and it was absolutely worth the wait. I ordered their chocolate hazelnut croissant with a small coffee ($11 total). The croissant? Yum, yum, yum. Stopped by this place last minute on our way to drop a friend off at the airport and SO glad we came. They have a plethora of different pastries and their bagels are absolutely delicious. Very simple but delicious- that's how you know you have quality food. They let us taste their tea syrups and the best cardamom syrup I've ever had was at this place. This beautiful cafe is on a very busy corner/intersection yet I almost could not find it. I said almost because I made it a mission to come here. I ordered the pistachio matcha with oat milk. The barista warned me that my drink would not be sweet and even showed me where the syrup was so I could add more myself. I wanted to try it without adding it since this was my first visit. You need to try the Ube or Strawberry Matcha at ZOREK. It's easily the best one I've had, perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and super smooth. Shoutout to "B", who made mine. You can tell he's a true professional at his craft; the quality and consistency were spot on. It's rare to find someone who puts that much care into a drink. I needed a little pick-me-up on a weekday and decided to check this place out. I love the fact that this place has its own parking lot. Be warned that you gotta have a couple of tight turns to get here. It's on a busy intersection in San Bruno. Also, watch out for pedestrians. The menu is simple. You won't get too overwhelmed by the choices. There are a variety of different boreks--flaky pastries with various fillings like zaatar cheese, beef and herb, spinach and feta, etc. I opted for the Zaatar Cheese borek for my first time and it did not disappoint! It's flaky and delicious. The sides of a boiled egg, pickled veggies and olives complement it well and make it a filling meal. Which makes the price point worth it ($9.95). It's deli style set-up so it's pretty quick service. If you order a drink, it is more of a wait. Please be patient. The barista is working hard. The drink is worth it. The aesthetic of the specialty drink is not too fancy, but pretty. I got a pistachio matcha for this gloomy day and it warmed me right up. The flavor of the pistachio definitely came through after a couple sips versus right away. I will definitely be coming back to try more flavors of the borek. The pochas looked good as well. The drinks are decent. There is seating outside with tables now. They are small so it's only enough for two people. Inside, the interior is unique and I'm impressed on how they utilized the space. I'd be willing to try it again in case the intended recipe is better than what I got this time around. We tried a handful of food items and I think they're worth a try in case they are up your alley. Greens crunchy and fresh. Mixed berry matcha to go with this made for a solid breakfast. But I also had to try the ube croissant. Very cute place, Seating only outside which is a bit of a bummer on a cold day. Standing room inside which is good but didnt work for us because we had a toddler in tow. Would come back on a warmer day. We came around noon and they were sold out of the Armenian Sujuk (which means come early to try because it's popular). We got the Zatar manakeesh, cardamom latte and the protein bagel. The manakeesh flavors were good but quite salty. Difficult to eat. The bagel filling of - scrambled eggs, tomato, lettuce was very good. I imagine if the sujuk had been included, it would be amazing. The coffee was pleasant, strong cardamom and cinnamon which was great. What was a bit annoying was that they were out of the sujuk which is part of the protein bagel offering but didn't think to proactively tell us until we asked about it. There was no offer to discount the price or substitute with something else to make up for charging us full price, even though a main component was not going to be there. There was also no greeting, no hi nothing when we walked in...we kind of stood there for a few minutes when we entered trying to figure out who was a patron vs staff. My partner and I were super excited to finally try Zorek after seeing all the hype. However, we were super disappointed by the overpriced subpar drinks. I had gotten the matcha pistachio and my partner got the pistachio latte. Upon receiving the drinks, they looked really sad and disappointing. You're getting a small drink with a small dollop of cream and a small drizzle of pistachio sauce for $8... The drinks were nothing that wowed us either. The matcha was very grainy and clumpy, I suspect that the matcha isn't very high quality. I have had better matcha elsewhere in the Bay for the same if not cheaper price point. The latte was alright, nothing special to write about but for the price and size, you are better off getting your coffee somewhere else. There was really not much pistachio flavor in either drink, the pistachio drizzle clumps and sinks to the bottom in an iced drink. We would only return again to possibly give their pastries a try but we wouldn't spend our money on their drinks again. I don't think we can justify that steep expensive price point for the quality and size. read more

Space is pretty small inside, there is a counter where you can eat with enough space for 4-5 people. Outside there is a small patio and a few chairs and benches but pretty limited. Food: Wild Mushroom Borek - good portion size maybe 6-8 pieces of pastry, served nice and hot, with a side of pickled cabbage, pickles, cucumber, tomatoes, olives and a hard boiled egg, pastry was filled with a decent amount of mushrooms, wish this was seasoned a bit more, had lots of layers but was a little soggy could have been more crisp and crunchy, loved the pickled red cabbage and all the accompaniments which really made this more of a complete meal Service was good, friendly quick and efficient. Staff seemed to have great recommendations. Overall enjoyed trying Zorek, wish pastry were a bit crisper, would come back to try some of the other dishes and drinks. Zorek used to be one of my absolute favorite spots in San Bruno. When they first opened, their börek was amazing especially with the pickled radish. It was flavorful, comforting, and honestly better than any other version I've had elsewhere. Over the past few months, though, they changed their menu and now primarily serve manakeesh. The manakeesh is good, and I do enjoy that it comes with fresh veggies and a boiled egg it's fresh, filling, and well done. But for me, it just doesn't compare to the börek they originally had. When they first switched the menu, I was told the change was seasonal and that the börek would eventually return. I kept coming back hoping to see it again, but during my most recent visit, the guy at the register told me it likely won't be coming back which honestly made me pretty sad. Their drinks are consistently great. The pistachio matcha is delicious, and their coffees never disappoint. The space is always clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is clearly fresh. That said, I live about 30 minutes away, and without the börek, I probably won't go out of my way to come here anymore. If I'm already in San Bruno, I'll happily stop by for a drink or a manakeesh but the börek was the thing that truly made it worth the drive for me. I genuinely hope they bring the börek back someday, because what they had was something special. There are other bakeries that sell börek, but none of them come close to how good Zorek's used to be. Still, I recommend checking this place out -- it's a lovely café with great drinks, fresh food, and welcoming service. I just miss the original magic. read more

My husband and I wanted a new coffee place to try out for our weekend mornings/afternoons, so we thought we'd try Zorek. It was pretty busy when we arrived around 11am, but not crazy. Had to wait about 15-20 minutes in line, and another 10 minutes for our drinks to be called. I had the tiramisu latte iced - it came with house made whipped cream and a lady finger - it was delicious! My husband got the pistachio latte - it came with house made pistachio whipped cream - and it was also yummy! We wanted a few items that they advertise on their website, but the man at the counter said all of those things are from their old menu - HUGE bummer. They definitely need to update their website then. So, we got the potato pastry and hazelnut chocolate croissant, both tasty! There's only standing room inside, so if you plan to eat there, make sure to bring a coat if it's cold out. Super cute ambience inside, lots of plants - even had a plant vendor parked outside so you could buy fresh flowers and potted plants. Coffee here is phenomenal. That's reason enough to come on its own. We tried the Mana'eesh, sausage and a cheese with lots of zaatar and both were really good. Perfect serving for one. And had a nice little salad on the side with a hard boiled egg. The cafe was really cute and cozy with a good amount of outdoor seating as well.
