Tzatziki $4.95/2.95 A traditional dip of thick yogurt, shredded cucumber and garlic. Served with pitta. *The tzatziki was wayyyy too garlicky for me and personally I thought it was too thick. I got the smaller portion and it only came with 1 small pita and there was so much tzatziki leftover. Meatball Special $13.95 5 meatballs served over rice with a tomato sauce, small salad and a roll. I am a Gyro or Kebab girl. These are my go to dishes as they are hard to mess up. Zorba's makes both and they are delicious. The portion is perfect. Service is always great. You order inside at the register and they bring you your food. I've used Uber Eats as well. The UE deliveries are always fast. Reading some of the prior reviews of this restaurant we had our doubts. We were in the Tea store next door to the restaurant and she said don't go wth the reviews on line. We didn't. The food was great. We started with the Greek Sampler. All of the items on the sampler platter were spot on. Next we had the Lemon and Chicken soup.. spot on. We followed up with the Souvlaki, very good. The portions were well sized. We will definitely be back again. read more

Zorba's is one of the fixtures of the DuPont dining scene, but my dinner was a disappointment. Sitting outside on the picturesque patio, I was bitten by mosquitoes about 6-7 times before finally deciding to move to the empty interior of the restaurant. Due to a catering mix-up (they seemed to have dropped a catering order before I arrived), everyone's dishes were delayed. Wait time was about 30 minutes. My buzzer went off and I went to the counter to pick up my combination plate, a platter of thoroughly mediocre Greek food that cost $16. The hummus was bland, both the meat and rice were dry, and it just didn't come together. Ultimately it's edible, so I'll give it a second star, but there are much better Mediterranean options in the local area. read more

This. Place. Was. Amazing. I'd bookmarked them on yelp before my trip to dc and I happened to pass them the other night when I was on my way to the watergate hotel. Well watergate didn't have anything I wanted so I ventured back towards DuPont and decided to try Zorba's. Best. Greek. Food. Ever. I got the appetizer sampler, the dinner sampler, a side of olives, and a baklava for dessert. The lamb and kebabs were the most flavorful I've ever had, and I don't know what they heck they do to make their hummus taste so delish. The baklava was dripping with honey and I wiped it out quickly. We enjoyed both. for entree I enjoyed mousses and she enjoyed the combo plate with chicken. the salad was very tasty. Went here for drinks and food. We ate outside on a Friday night, and was pleasantly surprised. The whole street is blocked off by the restaurants there with seating outside. I had a chicken sandwich (which was basically a gyro) and my boyfriend had the vegetarian plate. All very good and I would have again. Good beer and wine selection. read more

First time eating here in a while. Really disappointing. Food was very dry, small portions, and poorly seasoned. Soup was watery, baklava was almost inedible with the amount of sugar, and gyro was almost inedible it was so dry. Tzaziki was also watery and gross. Interesting hybrid setup at this joint. Walk to the back to order, seat yourself, grab your food when ready, and they bus the table. Somehow, though, it felt more upscale than many restaurants with this style and I wouldn't hesitate to bring a date here. It seems like they're focusing on the food more than the pizzazz and I dig it. Happy hour includes half priced hummus and tzatziki (making them just a few bucks) plus $3 wine and $3 beer. It's offered from 4-7 pm Monday to Friday. We ordered a bunch of snacks, including 4 dips, a village salad, fried zucchini and these fabulous potato things - a hybrid fry/chip. We also tried two kinds of wine. Oh! And they have a gluten free pita option, too. I also asked for a plate of carrots and cucumbers and they obliged with no attitude. It was nice to be able to go to the counter and get something else whenever we wanted, and that our meal was uninterrupted otherwise. The system makes it easy to split the cost - you either order and pay independently, and it's set up in a way that makes it less awkward, or, like us, we each got up and got a round of snacks and drinks and shared everything. Counter service was very friendly and efficient. They have a simple system that seems to involve an old computer and a lot of hollering, but they cranked it out perfectly. read more

This was my second time eating at Zorba's. A group of my friends were all in town--the first time since before the pandemic--and we decided on this well-known casual Greek restaurant. We pulled a few outside tables together and went up in pairs to order at the walk up counter inside. There was nearly no line that early on a Tuesday evening, so we put in our orders right away with the friendly middle aged man at the register and took our numbers. The food came out at a good clip, with one mix up (the waiter mistakenly brought one of us baklava instead of the dessert they ordered, left to bring the right dessert--and returned again a couple minutes later with the same baklava; fortunately, we straightened it out. The restaurant was out of the dessert they wanted, so a substitute was selected instead). I had the chicken souvlaki plate, which was tasty. However, the portions were far too small for dinner, and I left still hungry. It looked like Zorba's was making up for the three tiny skewers of chicken with a lot of French fries (not even rice or something arguably more authentic cuisine). The pita was tasty, though there was more in that one thick piece of pita than there was chicken! A cute Greek fast food restaurant. Located right next to Q exit dupont circle metro. Very cozy spot for a quick lunch/dinner! Pretty cool indoor space and a Lovely outdoor seating! The ambiance is very casual! You order your food at the register, pick your seat and once they call your number you go and pick it up! Once you are done. You leave your tray on the the table and they come clean it up. It's kinda order and serve your self! The food is absolutely delicious! Of course I don't like everything on their menu but I'm definitely addicted to few items... My number one favorite is their Greek burger and the chicken souvlaki platter! I can never get enough of it! ..and many more like Their home made french fries, their pita bread, fresh bread rolls, great Greek salad, kofteh, grape leaves, humus, babaganuch, spanakopita and their home made wine. Service: always friendly and fast! Although, 2y ago I've had an issue with them as they over charged me 3-4 times in days I haven't even ordered anything from them. And that happened twice within one month. It was very hard to get in touch with the manager and dispute the charges... anyway my bank ended up disputing them. Just be careful when you pay with CC or just pay cash. That's what I do! I always pay cash when I go to zorbas! They have vegan options which is great, but when the menu says dairy-free that doesn't actually mean dairy free. It means it's available for request in dairy-free which is confusing. I got the meatball dish, the food was yummy and relatively quickly made. The atmosphere of this place is adorable!!!! I didn't go upstairs but it was a perfect little spot for loner-lunchers like myself, especially on a rainy day, the view from inside the cafe is romantic and cute and just wonderful. The only reason I gave 4/5 stars might be a personal preference thing but the meal I ordered turned out to be more carb-heavy than I expected based on the menu description. As pictured, the meal comes with a salad so I was hoping it would have been larger and a tad more substantive. As you can see on the right, the whole plate is full of rice and bread with a very small proportion of the meal being veggies/meat/protein so that was disappointing but if you are loading up for a race, you might enjoy the plate full of carbs. All of this being said, I will be returning to try something else like a salad or their version of an empanada with one of their soups. read more

Easy, quick and tastefull. While walking back to our hotel we accidentally stumbled upon this place. The music and full terrace attracted us. You have to go inside and downstairs to order your choice @ the counter. There is a device offered to you which alarms when the food is ready. Easypeasy! Zorba's café is one that can easily be missed if you're not careful. This "hidden" gem was well worth the search. My friend & I both ordered the "Yéro plate" which came with a Yéro, side Greek salad, & fries. I also had a glass of white wine & she ordered the baklava. The Yéro was fresh & contained the tastiest lamb I've ever tasted. The Greek salad was a typical salad but the dressing definitely set it apart! House wine was ... well your traditional house white. Pretty mediocre for the price point. Forgive me since I am a Greek food stickler but seeing that dc was at one point dominated by the Greek diner (rip all my favorite diners) it should set the bar high for Greek food in the district and somehow Zorba's slipped through. The slouvaki sandwich was so sad for the price, you swear you got it on a 5 dollar weekly special. Scratch that - I've ordered 5 dollar special, 2 dollar HH pita specials that are much more impressive than the one i got delivered from here. It had a few puny chunks of chicken, slathered in tzaziki, then bits of veg. It was like a half portion of chicken compared to other joints. The gyro was much too crusty and salty. I'm sure they didn't make the gyro meat themselves (could be Kronos for all I know) but it was unusually crusty and despite food gyro being thin sliced this was way too crusty to be thin sliced. I instantly regretted putting the tzaziki on it because it made it saltier. And the avgolemono was interesting. it didn't have rice or orzo, but potato. And there was celery and carrots like chicken noodle soup. No dill unfortunately. Not a bad price so I can't complain and the only thing I would like to order again. read more

Great food for affordable price. You sit where you want to - no hosts directing you to the tables that they choose for you. Just order the food you like, pick a seat and enjoy the great atmosphere. Variety of seating available on the ground and second levels. Once the food is ready, you'll have to pick it up and then stay as long as you want to without being rushed by the staff. Alcoholic drinks are also available if you want to sparkle up your meal. Awesome place, I wish I have visited it before. Now I definitely know where to go when I'm in Dupont Circle area! read more

At first we were a little confused on how this restaurant works, but then saw a nice little sign on a cardboard telling us to order inside. You go in, order at the counter, listen to your order broadcasted over the loud speaker ( that's how the front counter communicates with the kitchen and I couldn't be more tickled pink with this idea), get a buzzer and choose your table. The restaurant is in the basement of a building, probably formerly a rowhouse. There are two floors, the main one where you enter and an upstairs area for additional seating. The seating is cramped together so you end up bumping into the tables next to you when getting in and out. This is not a romantic place or a first date place. It's loud, there's limited seating, and there's some art on the walls for decor, but apart from that not very glamorous. I've been here a few times over the past couple years. The food is consistently good and the staff are friendly. For a fast casual restaurant, I wish that the food was cooked and ready faster than 15 minutes, but my friend ordered lamb kabobs and I ordered chicken kabobs, so I am assuming it just takes that long. The busser came quickly (almost as soon as we got up) to take away our empty plates. There's no line for tipping on the receipt that you sign, but you could leave some bills on the table for the bussers if you are inclined. read more

A forgettable place that lives on because of its Dupont Circle location. I ordered the combination for $15.95 and a small babaganoush for $3.95. I was quite hungry and figured I would be stuffed after this but the portions were, well, skimpy. In terms of quality, the gyro meat was like anything you've gotten at Mediterranean places all over...the chicken kabobs were okay but nothing special...overall it was quite average. I particularly didn't like their baba but to each his or her own. With a bottle of iced tea, total was a little under $25 for my solo dinner. Certainly not pricey given other Dupont Circle options but exact meal elsewhere would have run 25 percent lower cost and entailed 25 percent more in quantity. I think you're paying for location here without much of a notable return. It certainly wasn't bad but I would not likely return. read more
