Long string of Amsterdam and Germany reviews begins with a great experience at Zoldering, our first meal in Amsterdam. Upon arriving we did a boat tour and Skipper Dick was giving us all kinds of can't-miss restaurant recs (ALWAYS make friends with your tour guides, people!) and at the top of his list was Zoldering, conveniently a block away from our hotel. Knowing nothing about this restaurant, we showed up without a reservation at 8:45pm on a Friday to try our luck.
After saying they could squeeze us in for a late meal, we were delighted. We sat outside with delicious glasses of white wine and waited for a table to open. It was only as we waited that we realized we had approached a Michelin-starred, VERY difficult-to-get-reservation kind of spot unknowingly. Once we were seated, we got straight to our order after a couple of questions. We went with two different lovely toasts and every single thing on the "starters" portion of the menu. My favorite bites were the langoustine with hazelnut and the yellowtail in buttermilk, but you aren't going to go wrong with anything on this menu.
The service here is brisk but warm and I wish I inquired more about the wine list, which is truly special. Enjoy! Book a rez for ease! read more
