We went here for dinner based on Yelp Reviews. We made a reservation which prob wasn't necessary but we got a great seat inside by a big window looking out onto the street. The restaurant was understaffed and the servers were struggling. We could understand that but one had to ask repeatedly for something that had been ordered. The menu seemed different from the one I had seen online-no schnitzel-but I could be wrong. Ordered mussels which were surprisingly tasteless. Cooked in water with a plethora of vegetables that didn't add any flavor. Husband ordered hamburger and he said it was good. It's a pretty restaurant, cozy. May this have been our favorite dinner in Amsterdam? I believe so. Service was absolutely incredible, the restaurant is stunning but the food was out of this world. The gambas were fresh and bright, the steak tartare was flavorful and fresh, the chefs steak was cooked to perfection and served with fries, the josper roasted vegetables had so much flavor. Cute little restaurant in the Jordaan with a warm, cozy ambiance - wood, real candles, pillows, and chill music. Was able to get in without a reservation as I was one person and they have high-top tables next to the small bar that seem to be reserved for walk-ins. Large selection of house wine is very reasonably priced at €6-8. Entrees are also reasonable for Amsterdam, especially this neighborhood. Service was pleasant and fairly reasonsive given there was a table of 10 on a business dinner and all other tables downstairs were full. Honestly the only reason for a 3 was the food. It was bland. Blander than bland. I kept adding cracked pepper and sea salt, and still nothing. I'm taking the fries and Spaetzle home to jazz it up. Very un-Dutch to bring food home but I want the meal I envisioned when I ordered, and I can do that back at the apartment better than the kitchen at Bleu. read more

I hadn't originally planned to dine at Bleu during our trip to Amsterdam, but after passing this adorable restaurant and glancing over the menu we decided to make dinner reservations here. The decor and atmosphere is very trendy and modern and the servers were so friendly. We started the meal off with a fantastic beef carpaccio that was adorned with Parmesan cheese, arugula, and a truffle mayonnaise. I considered ordering the mussels, but at the last minute I decided on the pork tenderloin instead. This was a bad decision on my part. The main course I ordered was a play on "pork and beans" and unfortunately the dish tasted exactly like hot dogs and baked beans. This might have been a delight if I were 5 years old, but I just wasn't a fan. It was such a shame because the pork was perfectly cooked, but I could not get the taste of the "bake bean sauce" off of the pork. Although I wasn't a fan of my meal I would give this restaurant a second chance because the rest of the menu looked excellent. I blame myself for ordering a dish that I did not enjoy. read more

Mushrooms, Steak Tartare, Goat cheese with fresh fig, soup of the day, foie gras. Everything was very good. The mushrooms were excellent. We picked such a lovely place to have our last dinner in Amsterdam. It was Thursday evening at around 6 and the place was quiet (do the Dutch eat late or early? Six days there and I never got the hang of the timing). Anyway, the ambiance was relaxing and lovely--a bit upscale but nothing too fancy, just inviting. My SO and I got really nice g&ts, and shared the pot of moules and the Angus burger (medium). So good, all of it!! Generous portions, awesome flavors. The moules in particular were so tasty and I ended up saving some of the burger bun to dip in the broth (this wine, leek, oniony broth). I loved how the burger came with some caramelized onion and garlic on the side, which made it really delicious. The French onion soup was sweeter than I expected but rich and quite good. I am craving it today. It was served with a nice piece of brown bread with melted cheese on top. Nice to be able to dip it in the soup. Yum! For entrees I went with the shrimp and the hot cheese (two appetizers). The shrimp had great flavor. Garlic and orange and wood smoked. So delicious! The got cheese medallions were served with a fresh fig, walnuts, beets, and some crostini. Husband had the butcher steak. He said it was tender, cooked perfectly, and quite good. The interior of Bleu is beautiful - the aesthetics could make for an amazing brassiere, however there were some missing pieces. The service was poor, not just slow. The food was also sub-par. My best friend and I were visiting Amsterdam this week, and after a day of walking we were desperate to find a good meal. We stumbled upon this restaurant, and are SO happy that we did. Right off the bat, the staff was warm and inviting. We were greeted at the door and offered a sample of the soup of the day, which helped to draw us in. The decor inside is amazing, with a very rustic-modern look. There is plenty of room in the restaurant and we took a seat upstairs. Our meal started with prosecco, and our waitress was very charming and attentive. She sat down to discuss the menu with us and offer us recommendations. We love to do a tasting of many things off the menu, and split an array of starters. We had a charcutterie board that included a variety of meats and a delicious meat spread (one of our favorite things), beef carpaccio, toasted goat cheese and figs, pate, and the most delicious mushrooms with cheese / garlic / herbs. From start to finish our meal was DELICIOUS and we are still wondering if we can squeeze in one last visit before we go! read more
