Amazing from start to end. Initially was a bit turned off by the policy to pay a fee to hold our reservation. After experiencing the restaurant, the food, hospitality and stellar service, it all washed away. This was a truly memorable meal. I can't recommend Zaza's enough!

We enjoyed a fabulous meal at Zaza's replete with all manner of beautifully plated deliciousness, including a delicate and tasty amuse bouche, excellent bread with an aubergine dipping sauce, a gorgeous tuna tempura dish with wasabi mayo, and perhaps 6 martinis (each), I can't remember. What I can remember, is that Zaza's is staffed by the NICEST PEOPLE EVER. Of course, they are attentive, knowledgable about their menu, and as courteous as can be. But they also go above and beyond. For instance: The table next to us was headed to the airport after their dinner, and as out-of-towners, they were extremely concerned they were going to get ripped off by the cab driver. The lovely waitress promised she would not let that happen. True to her word, she actually ran out when the cab arrived and had a lengthy conversation with the driver, presumably guaranteeing a good rate for the couple. I don't know if it was necessary, but she didn't have to do that. Also, on the dessert menu, there is a complimentary "Ab-Fab" memory of your evening. SPOILER ALERT: They take a picture of you and print it out. A truly thoughtful touch that was much appreciated, even if I looked stoned in the picture. I wasn't. Seriously, I wasn't.

This place is fantastic, from the time you make a reservation on line to the time you leave the restaurant. IWhen I made the reservation, I mentioned that it is my husband's birthday and they had balloons and decorated wine glasses waiting for us on the table, in addition a special amuse bouche place in a cute birthday box. The food is outstanding, the chef combines French gastrique techniques with fresh ingredients, this makes every dish special. The scallop appetizer is divine, tuna tempura starter is fresh and delicious, bread served with mint aioli is extremely light with a crispy crust. For main courses duck with a berry hazelnut sauce cooked to perfection and the sea bass served in a delicious white sauce. Dessert bread and butter pudding served with a white and dark chocolate sauce. A must try in Amsterdam.

From the google review, it's one of top two restaurants in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, I wouldn't agree with the google reviews, but their food are still good and fun but I expected more from them.

A cute, little French restaurant in Amsterdam! Definitely a must! We randomly stumbled in here walking up and down the streets, and we're so glad that we did! First of all, the service is amazingggg! Absolutely superb! They took the time to explain each dish, make recommendations, and just chat with us! Super friendly here! Meal started with an amuse-bouche that was delightfully presented. Then, our appetizers & entrees came out. Food: -STEAK TARTARE · €9.50 - with Grilled Brioche, Celeriac Chips and Balsamic Mayonnaise - the steak tartare was fresh and delectable! really enjoyed this dish! -TUNA TEMPURA · €11.50 - filled with Cucumber and Marinated Ginger with Wasabi Mayonnaise and Soy and Sesame Dipping Sauce - serve like sushi rolls; I really liked the sauce! overall, great dish! -PAN FRIED SCALLOPS · €11.50 - with a Fennel Tart and Tarragon Beurre Blanc - mmm, so fresh! My friends ordered: -JUMBO PRAWNS IN KATAIFI · €22.50 - with Saffron Risotto, Cherry Tomatoes, Petis Pois and Fennel Foa - beautifully presented, decent portion! -CHAR GRILLED RIB EYE · €24.50 - with Homemade Fries, a Parmesan filled Onion, Red Wine Jus and Horseradish Cream - the onion was really unique!

After reading some great reviews of Zaza's, I couldn't resist for not checking it out! And yes, all the reviews are truly great, because Zaza provides really delicious food and great service. All the tables were reserved and luckily I was on time to reserve the last table! When I entered the restaurant, it looked very cozy but also trendy. We ordered for starters delicious coquilles and crispy gamba's with tasty risotto! For main course we have chosen for rib-eye with home-made fries and beef with mashed potatoes and filled mushrooms. Before we received our appetizer we even got a free appetizer and fresh warm bread with delicious sauce before your appetizer! ;) This is what I mean: awesome! The service was very friendly and asked us many times whether we liked the food. We definitely said: YES! There are even oysters on the menu and cocktails! I haven't tried these yet, but I will be back for sure some time soon ;)

Walked in with no reservation and they happily sat us....had one of my best meals here while on vacation!

Best service I've had in Amsterdam and the recommendations regarding wine and dessert wine were top notch. The food was good but not amazing. The place is quite modern and fashionable and not too big, which makes a bit more personal.

    Fillet of venison, delicious!

Top Notch Breakfast and Dinner…read more.. Brasserie is the restaurant inside the Ambassade Hotel. My wife and I...along with another couple...had 4 breakfasts and 1 dinner there so this review reflects our experience. - Overall: 5 - Location: 5 (for Old Town and the Jordaan) - Exterior: 5 - Interior: 5 - Atmosphere: 5 - Menu: 5 - Food: 5 - Service: 5 (though the head waiter at dinner was full-of-himself) - Price and Value: 5 Pros: - Location: Convenient to the Old Town and Jordaan parts of Amsterdam. - Exterior: Handsome. A beautifully restored and maintained property. - Interior: Contemporary. Brasserie is a high end spot across 3 rooms, yet remains comfortable where conversation is easily accomplished. - Menu: Very healthy buffet at breakfast plus some items which can be ordered. Dinner offers French fare with a relatively light touch...though very different from the wellness-oriented breakfast. - Food: Excellent. The breakfast buffet is not huge, but full of healthy high quality items. I had 3 unbelievable versions of granola spooned from large jars and covered my bowl with the best tasting light Greek yogurt. Fruit and fish was super fresh...bread and pastries baked on premises amazing. Others in our group chose made-to-order egg dishes. It's all part of staying at the hotel. Dinner transformed Brasserie into a bistro with a French twist on many favorite dishes. Check the menu online. Portions are small - as expected - but quality was high. However, prices were very reasonable with most items under $30. - Service: Homey at breakfast..."French" for dinner. Everyone could not have been more friendly and helpful in the morning. Things were a bit more formal at night with a different crew. The chief waiter was very knowledgeable, but we agreed a bit arrogant. - Price and Value: Worth it. I believe the breakfast buffet is only for guests of the Ambassade Hotel. Brasserie is open to the public at night and quite reasonable. - Parking: None. Who has a car in Old Town? Cons: - The only one readily apparent was the brusque, off-the-cuff nature of our main server at dinner. He wasn't over-the-top, but not in keeping with the friendly vibe of the hotel. And that's coming from 2 couples who grew up in New York City and lived for many years in San Francisco and LA. Anyone can...and should...get dinner at Brasserie. There are many reasons to make reservations for a stay at the Ambassade - including access to their breakfast buffet.

We were able to get seated right on the window area. We chose menu 5, which was just enough for two people. Everything was delicious! Their pea soup is out of this world. Don't know why as it is a simple dish but wow! I also love their herring. It was so delicious that I wanted seconds. It paired so well with their onions and mustard. And their bitterballen was just enough bite. Creamy and crispy! We also got a combination of the hutspot. They were all delicious! Although for me the meatball was just a tad bit salty but it is probably just me! Everything else was spot on. I love their dessert at the end. It was a great way to end the night. We did not have one but they were happy to seat the 2 of us and invited us to switch tables once another couple left (they were checking out). Small space, can accommodate groups of 2-4, cozy atmosphere, lots of the traditional blue and white ceramics on the wall (dishes and tiles). Traditional Dutch cuisine: we ordered the Boerenkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and Zuurkoolstamppot with smoked sausage and a slice of apple pie to share for dessert. The food arrived piping hot in about 20 minutes. It was sooo delicious--the tasty juicy sausage pairs perfectly the mashed potatoes with either sauerkraut or kale. The apple pie was also tasty--larger chunks of apple and more spices less sugar than American apple pie from what I can tell. Perfect with whipped cream. A must visit if you're in Amsterdam and want to try traditional fare. Highly recommended!
