Zipmin

Classic zipmin meal post hike on a rainy day... it doesn't get bettah than that brah. Throw in some hot mustard while ya chow down. Maybe grab a side of rice and chili, too. Mmmm chef's kiss.

Zippy's on the Nimitz is my favorite spot to get food to go for my flight home. Little crackers and a couple of cookies on Southwest isn't enough to hold me on the flight home. This review is more of a price update than refreshing my last review. I grabbed a spaghetti and garlic bread meal to eat on the flight home. It was good as usual. Staff was nice, ordered my food, got out and to the airport early. If you have time or not a lot of time, this location is on the way to the airport on the Nimitz. A quick 10 to 15 minutes and you'll have yummy food to eat on the plane. Lots of choices to choose from so plan ahead.

Korean Fried Chicken Platter mini

Always a must when we arrive in Oahu after leaving the airport. The local diner to check out if you wanna try something different and a local favorite. It's always a comfort of home feel when you dine at this place. I get the korean fried chicken mini plate (because i cant eat like i used to anymore) but its just the right amount of food for me. The favorite of my family is the oxtail soup and the zip pac with chili. Try it. The service was good and the part that got us this trip was the extension of seating we got For our party. The booths dont look big enough for our party but auntie made sure to remove the partition of the booth so we can sit with together with our family.

Really glad we came here. It's hard to describe the food in one or two words if you haven't been Zippy's. As someone from Florida, if I could sum it up in a couple of words is comfort food. We got the triple chicken, the Zip Pac and oxtail tail soup, along with a side of Portuguese sausage. I think the triple chicken was the best one of the bunch but you can't go wrong with anything here. It's also worth trying desert too. The atmosphere has a sort of diner vibe that's really cool and laid back. Our server was helpful and friendly. I would definitely repeat!

It wasn't exactly lunchtime, but I didn't feel like eating an omelette. I go to this location quite frequently there are a lot of things that I could eat, but Zippys especially this location is my favorite go to because of the staff.... It's so important because my parents really like the women that work in the mornings... Tess, Marianne, Wendy, and Arlene. These ladies are so accommodating, and they're so good at their job... The veggie tofu burger is really my favorite item. It is as good as the rest of the Burgers. I've had a chance to try most all the burgers at one point until my diet changed ... lol. I like the veggie- tofu burger most cause it's not heavy. When you get a chance to go to this location, make sure you're there between 10 to about 1 PM. That way you can get help by one of the four waitresses that I mentioned. I do recommend a lot more dishes that I've eaten there as you can see the post with a lot of photographs but I really like the veggie tofu burger. It's absolutely agree midday lunch, brunch type of item. Especially when you eat indoors for this location, it's really nice it might have a bit of a chill for some people so maybe bringing a small longsleeve jacket or some thing but other than that it's really nice location for a sit down in door restaurant ...

They have turkey packages. Front is the prices. Back is the details of what is included.

Came here once we landed in Hawaii. They had two sides for dinning. One side is more of a dinner and the other side it like a bakery and dinning. There was so much to order and to try out. They have rice dishes, chili, noodles and breakfast items. I chose the surf platter that had chilli, rice, spam, teriyaki chicken and fried chicken. Everything was delicious and amazing. I was so full for the night. I and interested in going back to try out their noodle plates.

After seeing an amazing live performance at TAG, we walked over to Zippy's for an early dinner. It wasn't too busy so we were able to get a table right away. It had started raining and the air was a bit chilly so I had my favorite Won Ton Min, with sriracha sauce. Hit the spot! Our server, Theresa, was a class act, fun, efficient and very accommodating. Give this woman a raise!!

Nice greeting. Friendly staff. We had the Zippy's Chili Chicken Mix Plate , Beef Stew Plate and Chili Korean Chicken Plate. Super Ono!

About a 2-2.5: Think of Zippy's as like an IHOP of Hawaii - they offer an extensive menu of breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, noodles, soups, daily plates, and bakery items. We came here for an early dinner, and we tried: +the Hamburger Steak daily plate - this came with a hamburger patty that was topped with grilled onions and brown gravy; served with two scoops of rice and a mac salad; the hamburger steak was actually juicy, savory, and yummy, especially with the generous pour of the gravy +the Chili & Chicken Mixed Plate - this came with 2 pieces of fried chicken thighs and chili; usually the chili is served on a side of rice, but I substituted it for fries; the chicken was over-fried and wasn't seasoned well; the chili itself is slightly sweeter, and the taste was just mediocre; I was disappointed that they forgot the mac salad, but after sampling it from the Hamburger Steak plate, I'm glad it was not included as it had a slight off taste to it I tried the Orange Bang, which was their version of an orange creamsicle/orange float - it was okay, but I did like the fact that they serve beverages in a larger cup. Service was a little slow, but friendly; I was surprised at the space of the restaurant, as it was larger than what it seemed from the outside. There is a small lot to park your car in front of the restaurant. +avoid the chili and the mac salad +slow service +parking available in lot

We decided to come here right after our flight of course, and it was pretty good. The fried noodles were good. Everything was pretty good besides the chili moco. The chili moco was good but it wasn't as good as it usually is. The patty was burnt with no taste... The service was great. The wait time was non-existent and the parking was easy. Ambiance is casual as usual.

Special request- lettuce instead of a bun
Jeanette E.

Took a wrong turn and ended up here. It was pretty random, but we figured we could find something to eat with very little time left. I didn't see any salad on the menu. I would suggest that they put that on the menu. Ordered the burger and asked for a "lettuce wrap " instead of a bun/bread. The cashier looked at me like I was from Mars.... She called another cashier over to ask for help. So basically instead of a bun, I just wanted lettuce. I was told the lettuce was pre cut and small so they might not be able to do it. I asked if I could just have the lettuce and I would eat it like a salad. She said they would figure it out. To my surprise, they were able to make a lettuce wrap. It looked cute and was probably the 1st time they got this kind of request. Or at least that's how it seemed. The cheese was gross so I didn't eat it.

It was a pretty good first time visit despite the very small seating in the restaurant. And now the food... I had to pick between the BBQ sliders and the Chicken biscuits and gravy. And, for the price, they definitely gave me a good amount of chicken in correlation to the biscuit. The bites I got from the chicken and the southern gravy were really delicious. Eating the chicken with the biscuit and the gravy, a lot more pleasant there. I didn't really need the Louisiana style hot sauce. Chicken, spot on and crispy...the biscuit, light, delicate and soft... There's not really much I can find a complaint on, and the presentation looked so inviting to eat. I can definitely tell they put so much heart and soul into their food, and it comes out presented well. Next time, maybe I can try the BBQ sliders if I ever come across this place again. Thanks, Southern Love, you really made my day.

This is the furthest from fast food, and you cannot come here with the expectation of fast food. I enjoyed the best fried chicken in my life here. Freshly battered and fried. Accompanied by a beautiful potato salad, collard greens, and a tasty piece of cornbread. I would order an entire pan of that cornbread if I could. And you should definitely get a side of that potato salad. My boyfriend enjoyed their mixed plate which had rib ribs and a few other items, but I was too concentrated on my food to care about what he was eating. We came around 6 PM on a Saturday night and were served our food just after 7 PM. We were incredibly lucky because while we were sitting at the counter, we saw numerous parties try to come in to dine in, and there was no space available. Takeout is always an option, but you still need to wait for your takeout so be patient, walk around to the Sake shop down the street and come back in an hour to pick up your piping hot food. Parking is extremely limited so pray to the parking gods that you score a stall in front of the restaurant or try your luck on the street and take a short walk down.

I found so many things that looked great on the menu, to include fried gizzards, boneless Kal Bi ribs, fully loaded fried rice, Mac salad and other stuff I can't recall! So the TWO of us ordered way too much! We tried to eat as much as we could and ended up taking the rest home! Everything we ordered was delicious, so we knew we were going to eat good leftovers! The restaurant was a great place to go with a group to eat and watch sports! The staff was super nice about it and was able to accommodate us, with only a small request that we be out by 8pm since there was another big party with a reservation coming in. Absolutely reasonable. They sat us right away at three large tables, which gave us plenty of space for food and didn't force us to sit super close together. Menus, waters, plates, napkins, and forks were all brought out immediately, and our waiter was quick to take our order. We started with the prix fixe menu for 8-10 guests and were going to add other items à la carte, but a handful of our group accidentally went to the other Side Street location (make sure your group is all on the same page), so what we ordered ended up being more than enough. We left stuffed and with 5 boxes of food still. Edamame was nice and steamy, and large enough to easily pop the beans out with your mouth. Wish there was a bit more salt though. The farmer's salad had everything going on from citrusy to salty to crispy. Avocado had a little bit of oxidation but the capers, dressing and potato curls provided plenty of reasons to overlook it. The fried rice came in a hefty portion, with sizable pieces of bacon and sausage. The chicken I didn't realize was boneless based on the shape of the deep fry, but it was nice to freely bite into it without worrying about hitting anything with my teeth. Probably a bit too much on fried bits but still good. Pork chops had a better meat to crisp ratio in my opinion, as well as juiciness. They even came with ketchup on the side, which I love as a pairing but don't see much of at restaurants. My favorite meat item was definitely the sizzling boneless kalbi. The presentation on the sizzling plate with a side of kimchi was spectacular, and the meat was full of flavor. We also ordered yakisoba, which wasn't part of the prix fixe. Tasted good but nothing past standard expectations. We let the waiter know we had a 30th birthday at the table, and they brought a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream with a candle, and did a decent job getting the whole room to participate in the singing. It could also be the type of crowd this place attracts, since it seemed that everyone was so friendly and approachable. Thanks to the quick and consistent service, we were out in a little over an hour with no complaints.

We had a 7pm reservation that I booked through Yelp. We arrived a few minutes before our time, and was quickly seated in a "cozy" little table for 2. This place is crackin' though. It's loud and energetic. Mostly because it's a small little place down a side street on Beach Walk. The staff is super friendly, and the food is even better. I had the pork and shrimp katsu set, and my husband had fancy pork katsu set. We also had edamame to start. Everything came out sizzling hot and to perfection. I should also mention, this place is clean. The staff was constantly cleaning tables and menus. I'm giving Ginza only 4 stars because no one ever came to refill our drinks. I know it's such a small thing, but I accidentally ate some of the spicy mustard that was buried on my plate under the salad. My mouth was ON FIRE! I drank all my Diet Coke and my husband had already finished his drink too. So ya, I was dying...lol! Overall though, I would 100% eat at Ginza again

When I say relocated, they really didn't move far from their original spot, being a short (less than) 5minute walk away. There's also a large parking lot next to the new location, instead of the old drive in and metered lots, this one has like a parking ticket to use to access the lot. I feel like compared to the OG location, the new location's inside seating is significantly smaller, with around 5-6 tables and 2-3 of them being very small ones meant for just one-two people. They do have seating outside which, when totaled up, likely matches the amount of seating their OG location provided as well. Also very similarly to the OG chubbies, the water, sauce and napkins are self service. It feels very much like a fast casual spot. I got the OP style double and fries to share. It was very good, and I enjoyed both. I would come back again but in my opinion there are also a lot of other better/ more affordable spots out there.
