About 5 years ago I purchased several window coverings for my home. I invested a significant amount…read moreof money in all of them, with one in particular. A motorized Luminette shade for my living room. I wanted a high quality shade, so I was willing to pay more, much to my dismay the Luminette fell very short of high quality. In August of 2023 the motor became inoperable, they replaced it but I still had to pay $300 for a tech to install the replacement motor. At present, March 2026, the 2nd (replacement) motor first failed. When I contacted Hunter Douglas, I was informed that this motor is discontinued. Additionally, I was told that my only option is to replace all other parts for the Luminette unit to the tune of $2400, as it's out of warranty now. I tried to source the discontinued motor on my own online and with independent repair people, only to find online that this is a widespread problem, impacting many people (ripe for a class action lawsuit). And the independent repair people that I spoke with, validated this common widespread issue and acknowledged this issue is making many people very angry. Currently, I can no longer open or close the Luminette on this particular window, which is a sliding door to my deck. For a so-called "premium" product at this price point, I expected at a minimum a sustainable product, with better customer support, including the ability to maintain or repair the system for a reasonable cost. It's clear after all my research that the Luminette is a defective product, much of the issues stem with parts that Hunter Douglas sourced through 3rd parties, clearly to cut costs and make more money. And they figured out how to monetize a defective product, by charging their customers for the inadequacies of their sourcing strategies. Stay away from Hunter Douglas, unless you want to pay thousands of dollars to service your shades every few years.

I recently attended the Certified Installer training here and it was excellent…read more In the two day intensive training they take you through almost all of their products showing you how to do basic repairs and give you tips and tricks for installations. After a demo of the repair you go out to a lab of sorts and try it yourself. This gives you the chance to not only sample situations you might run into in the field, but a chance to tinker on products that you don't have to worry about damaging or replacing. The instructors are great and exactly the same in person as what you see in the webinars and online videos. You are well fed and they provide snacks and drinks throughout the day to keep your mind from wandering. The program is constantly changing with the development of new products and updates so its never the same twice. Its also very helpful to have 40-45 other installers in the same room to share horror stories with and swap experiences. Great job everyone.

The staff don't have a clue when you tell them what you want and they get you the wrong stuff. You have to tell them over and over explain it real good. I'd rather go to mcmillan than ferguson.

YES, YOU CAN BUY A MATTRESS DURING THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE…read more So I moved into a new house and badly needed a mattress, just as the whole virus thing happened. You can't, like, go to a store and lay down and mattresses during this thing -- at least not during lockdown, when I happened to need a mattress -- so I decided to try calling Andy to see if he'd be able to coach me through a purchase by phone. I wouldn't think that "mattress-by-phone" would work, but Andy is freaking brilliant. We spent like an hour on the phone, talking through my wife and my sleep preferences, and he explained how all of the different materials worked, sent me links to a few options, and then helped me make a final decision about how to customize the firmness of the mattress. Frankly, he nailed it. That's the wizardry of a nice guy who knows how to listen -- and who has been helping people find mattresses for a long, long time. Yeah, the mattress is awesome and organic, and that's great. We chose one that has three layers of foam, so you can continue to tweak the firmness over time. That's also great. But Andy is the real star here -- he's a great dude, and he knows his stuff.

Awesome place! I was in the market for some decent but affordable furniture, and stumbled upon this…read moreshop. Nathan and Josh were great--they showed me around the place and gave me lots of good recommendations based my needs and use for the furniture. They also don't hide minor flaws of the items--Josh pointed out that one of the sectional couch I bought has a minor issue with the zipper, which still works but explains the steep discount. Finally, they offer $100 delivery regardless of the amount of furniture you buy. This place is a total bargain for people who want affordable and quality furniture: for example, I stumbled upon $200 electronic standing desk (second hand). I would have taken it had I not invested in an uplift one two years ago which cost me around $1000. They also have brand new dining set (table + 4 chairs) for $375 or $350. I just bought a set from Costco with a middle leaf and six chairs at $850. Had I seen this one earlier, I'd probably opt for this over the Costco one given how affordable it is. Overall, very happy with my purchase. I'll come back to update my review if there is quality issue. If there is no update, that means the quality is also satisfactory!

I finally landed on my final choices and I just picked up my piece the other day...it looks fantastic in my office! I am extremely pleased. A few nice touches was the inclusion of the hanging hardware and just this afternoon, I received a lovely thank you note in the mail.
