Nice little (truly small only a few tables) wine bar in a nondescript strip mall on the heart of Lodi. Heard good things about this spot and decided to give it a try...glad we did! Servers were very pleasant and accommodating, really seemed to know their menu and wines. We were both in the mood for red meat, but got different dishes. I chose the hanger steak and my wife selected the bistro filet. The hanger steak was a bit on the rare side for my medium rare taste but the flavor was good. It had a slightly sweet flavor due to the caramelized onions. My wife;s filet was delicious and both meals came with fresh vegetables and potato. Been here a few times and this is a cute, nicely decorated little spot. It's really small inside however so a group of more than 4 can be challenging. My only complaint is that the acoustics are horrible so you can't hear the person across the table from you if you're talking in your inside voice .. you will however hear everyone else's conversations. Food is 4/5. I did ask for my lamb to be cooked well and it was still very pink but most places are that way unfortunately. Worth a try if you are in the area. read more

This is my all time favorite spot In Lodi. My husband and I eat out at least once a week and you cannot beat Zin Bistro for food quality, service and ambiance. My favorites are the Bistro Filet and my husband usually orders the pork scaloppini. Those dishes as well as the wedge salad are outstanding. Frequent & long time dine-in customer pre Covid. First time ordering via DoorDash tonight. Filet mignon entree - perfectly cooked as specified rare, but barely any bleu cheese. Dining in, you would get a basket of this delicious sliced French bread, so I assumed that would automatically be included as well, but no bread. Would've been perfect to soak up the delicious brown gravy! Really can't beat their price for an amazing steak dinner, but next time I will specify extra bleu cheese & request the bread. read more

We were going on vacation the next day and my hubby suggested Zin Bistro. We had not been in a while. It was delicious. Our server Brian is so pleasant. Walter and Melissa are fabulous chefs. Brett the bus person is great. We started with the Bolognese for an appetizer. Delicious. My hubby had the mushroom soup and I had the salad. Delicious!! I've eaten twice at Zin Bistro. I had a filet of beef once and petrale filet the second time. The beef is of excellent quality and the restaurant offers a delicious local wine selection. Pricing is quite reasonable and staff are very friendly and accommodating. The cons: 1. The restaurant lacks ambiance because of the overly bright interior lighting. 2. The filet of beef was drowning in a slightly bitter wine reduction sauce that detracts from the wonderful local wine. Is Zin Bistro worth a try ... absolutely. This was our first time here. I called and put our names down and we were sat by the window. We ordered 1/2 a wedge and bean and meat soup. Both were very good!!! We also ordered the filet and newyork steak . Bother we're cooked perfect and had wonderful flavor! Our waiter was outstanding!!!! He was on it!! He left nothing undone!!! He gave us more bread and fresh glasses for our drinks!! He was clean looking, attentive and it was very refreshing!!! It filled up fast so I recommend coming early! We definitely will be back! Came here on a Saturday. First impression was it smelled a little like the bathroom. Maybe they didn't have time to take out the garbage? Plenty of seating available. Staff was super friendly, service a little slow, food was better than average. We had the rack of lamb and filet mignon. It was tasty. Wedge salad was crispy and delicious. When more people came in, it was very hard to have a conversation because you can't hear even if you are right next to the person. It's a very small place. Our bill came out to $115 for two people. Some friends invited us to dinner to try Zin Bistro. We went with two other couples. 6 people worked but don't think 8 would have. This is a place for 2 or 4. It felt a bit cramped, but the food and service were excellent. The menu seemed small but with some great options when we received it; however, there were several specials - fish of the day, pasta of the day, soup of the day, along with other specials. We tried the special appetizer of the day - a deep fried gnocchi that i could have eaten as my dinner if I didn't have to share. It was so good. I ordered the chicken and sausage creole soup with the petrale sole in lemon butter sauce with green beans and rice - all excellent. Again, the soup could have been dinner. My wife ordered the steak Diane special and loved it. She also had a house salad that looked good. Others tried the New York steak that looked good. The service was excellent as well. Love this itty bitty place! We always plan one meal here during our annual trek to Lodi, CA for the Sandhill Crane Festival because it's not to be missed. Went into Zin Bistro the other night to purchase a gift certificate. Once I walked in almost everyone who was seated and eating stopped talking. One table stared at me up and down as I approached the front counter. Another customer who had to walk past me to exit ignored me when I said "excuse me, sorry". The environment was VERY uncomfortable and I clearly was being judged because of my skin color. Did not taste the food because again, I was just there for the gift certificate but I will DEFINITELY not be back to try the food. If you are not white I wouldn't recommend going there. Go ANYWHERE ELSE! The man who did help me with the gift certificate seemed like he was rushing me, he wasn't rude but he did seem like helping me was a bit of a hassle(no it was not slammed, there was no reason to be rushing). Do not get the "caesar salad". It's basically soupy mustard on lettuce with parmesan cheese. I ate two bites before giving up and waiting for my dining companions to finish their lunch. My companions also tried a bite and said the same "yup. Mustard on lettuce." I paid $12 for this "meal" to be thrown in the trash, and won't be back. Sorry. But the remodel is cute. Had dinner here last night and was fantastic. I had a filet with red wine reduction. Beef was cooked perfectly and very tasty. My husband had the scallop/prawn special and it was amazing as well. Our third visit to Zin Bistro was on a Friday night. We were able to walk in without waiting, which is unusual as this restaurant is packed on Fridays and Saturdays. I ordered the lamb shank and my wife has rock cod. The lamb shank was amazing, and the best I've ever tasted. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender and so flavorful. The gravy was fantastic and complimented the lamb perfectly. My wife said her rock cod or rockfish was excellent as well. Ive been coming here a couple of times and my family and thier friends come here often. Most of my visits have been ok but i do have to point things out on the judgement that they put on their customers. I have never been so insulted when i was trying to decide on the wine i would like and the server asked me if it was the "price" was a concern for me. I was kind of taken back and thought to myself. Wow. How disrespectful. If im going to a place that serves wine and i cant afford one glass then why would i step foot in the resturaunt in the first place?! Little do they know our family owns acres of old vine zin and we also case and bottle our wine! So before you judge a customer who asks for a glass of wine and you think they cant afford one ....just think twice about who your insulting. And never judge a book by its cover. I live in Sacramento and met a friend in Lodi for dinner. We had read about Zin Bistro on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It was wonderful!! It located in a non-descript row of businesses on Lodi Ave. On arriving, we were quickly seated. The interior design is simple, modern and no unlike a small French Bistro. The menu is not extensive but with good choices of vegetarian and non-vegetarian selections. The prices are very reasonable the the daily special price was very reasonable. The wine selection focuses on local wines, but had a good list from which to choose. The bread was home made and had a wonderful butter taste with a soft crust. I had the soup of the day..chicken vegetable with rice. It was seasoned well and had a tasteful base. My entree was the pork scallopini with fresh green beans and rissotto. The beans were done well and the rissotto was cooked to perfection. However, the pork was outstanding. The preparation and execution would compete with any French Bistro They had a wonderful selection of fresh desserts. The service was excellent and it was nice to see so many locals know each other in the resturant. This is a true Bistro, that does it right. Lodi has a gem....you need to support it! read more

In my opinion, THE best bistro style restaurant in county for a date. Period. Probably Sacramento and Stanislaus counties as well. Now, let me tell you why. First, cooking team is in it to win it; you come and watch them cook, and you will see what I mean. These two cook like their life is on the line, and the food is proof positive. This small place has lots of hard surfaces, and is a little cold in the winter, so dress warmly. There are my only negatives. Other than that, this place is a solid 10. Soups, salads, sides, sauces, meats, seafood - even the homemade chocolate mousse -if you didn't know better, you would think you had private chefs on a yacht making this stuff. Wines are solid and not overpriced. Must guess their lunches are stellar as well, if dinners are this good. Just as a point of reference, I spend almost all of my discretionary income on dining, my Dad owned a restaurant, and I go out to lunch or dinner 7-10x a week. Food is my deal. Seriously, If you go here and you are not impressed, I would be shocked. Disregard the couple of mouth breathers (Feedme, StephanieB) whose reviews should be limited to Chili's or Daddy's country club. In closing, I recommend this place without reservation. But let's face it, more to a book than it's cover. They are open Tues - Sat for lunch & Dinner. We arrived and were greater by a very friendly server who knew all the nightly specials and details about them all. We started with a cup of soup , tomato bisque, very good and my husbands favorite chopped salad (iceberg, blue cheese, bacon), also good. Everything sounded good but we decided on Chicken Marsala with saffron rice and hubby had beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes. Each were under $15 !! Wine and beer list, all choices very affordable !!! Friday and Saturday night they serve cioppino as well. Can't WAIT to go for lunch ! Want to try the Banh Mi sandwich (a chicken version of the Vietnamese sandwich favorite) AND my favorite all time : Croque Monsieur !! A FABulous French open faced ham and cheese sandwich with a lucious cream sauce ! I bet it will be incredible !! I'll have to get back before the New Years dieting starts - LOL !! This could be the best meal I have had in Lodi. I had the lamb shank & my husband had the beef cheeks. Both were awesome! Seriously tasty and beautifully presented. The menu is also reasonably priced. The only downside to this restaurant is that it is too small. It was packed when we went, so I anticipate that it will be slammed before long. Zin Bistro is a small space in a tiny shopping center and it's easily missed while driving down Lodi Ave. But it's worth stopping by as this is one of the best meals I've ever had in Lodi. I recommend reservations as the word must be spreading and this place fills up quickly. The seafood risotto was one of the best I've had. The shellfish was plentiful and cooked perfectly which left me with tender scallops in a rich creamy sauce. The biscotti dessert was a surprise when it came with a delightfully chewy center and a rich chocolate ganache. Today was the first time here and folks I'm not exaggerating but this place deserves some Michelin stars for excellent cuisine. We had the three course dinner special which came with a tasty, flavorful and healthy dark greens salad with crumbled blue cheese and balsamic vinaigrette. Then the main course was a pork tenderloin with Marsala sauce. Well my taste buds are still tingling. The pork was so tender and delicious and cooked to perfection. For dessert we had an apple cinnamon cake with a dab of whipped cream. My girlfriend took her time because she loved it and said it was the best part of the meal. Overall a great experience and our server, Brian, was an excellent host and so friendly and nice. This small restaurant is a hidden gem here in Lodi. We went to Zin Bistro for my mother-in-law and her boyfriend's birthdays because they really likes the place. I was looking forward to it because I had heard so many good things about the place. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. First off, the waiter was completely scatter brained. He rambled through the specials so fast we had to have him back up and repeat a few times. He forgot to bring me my drink. It wasn't until the table next to us (who arrived about 20 minutes after us) got their drinks I heard him say "oh yeah, I owe you a drink". I felt like saying, "well duh, I only ordered it almost a 1/2 hour ago". I ordered the Bistro Fillet and my wife ordered the Pork Scallopini. The food came out in reasonable time, seeing how busy they were. The scatter brained waiter, couldn't remember which dishes went where and gave several plates to the wrong people. Once I received my dinner, both the fillet and the mashed potatoes were luke warm at best. The fillet had almost no seasoning, it and the wine reduction were rather bland. Likewise, my wife's scallopini was luke warm when she got it and had a rather strange flavor to it. She ate very little of it and tried to pass it to others at the table. Nobody else wanted it either. They did bring a complimentary chocolate mousse to each of the birthday folks, which was nice. But then gave spoons to everyone else and said to pass it around, which I thought was rather strange. I had planned to order my own dessert as the mousse look rather good. However, the waiter never even asked us if we wanted dessert and we didn't see him again until he brought our check. All in all, it was a VERY underwhelming experience. LIke I said, I was excited to try it as I had read an article online raving about the place as well as the many great reviews here on Yelp. However, between the bumbling waiter and the lackluster food, I doubt, very seriously, we'll ever go back again. Sorry Zin Bistro, but we're voting you off the island. read more

This is a great little restaurant. We came on a friends recommendation, Great menu and very reasonable prices. We were greeted by a very pleasant waiter that gave us a run down of the specials. Started with a bottle of old vine zin and our wives had the drink special "Sangria". We had Roasted Bone Marrow and salads to start.
