Our first time here. Food was good. I got green chicken enchiladas. The service was on top. The guy refilled our water without us having to ask. The salsa for the tortilla chips was amazing we finished them and got both refilled. The size of the restaurant I'll guesstimate seats like 50 people more or less. Today I visited here on my way to work and I'm very happy with the service first of all ordered over the phone and requested the Arroz Con Pollo with extra vegetables and asked how long it would take. I was very happy when he told me it would only be 10 minutes because that meant I had enough time to stop and get it before I had to go to work then called back, and I asked for the exact total so I can have the money ready for him when I arrived, so I was already being a bugaboo as it was if that wasn't enough when I arrived, I said, can I please have a Pepsi really quick to take with me as well which I should've ordered on the phone but he still was very quick about the process he had my order ready for me when I walked in the door and had my drink for me within seconds and then I was out the door off to work. It may not seem like that big of a deal but it really is a big deal when you're in a hurry to get to work on time it means a lot to have great customer service like that a restaurant that can help you be on your way as fast as possible, it's not their job to make me on time to work so I really appreciate it. read more

I have been told several times by my parents to try this place as well as my boss. One day my boyfriend and I were trying to figure out what we wanted to eat and I said how about Mexican let's go give this place a try! The ambience is mediocre and the seating area is a bit small. However the food really makes up for all of that! The fajitas were very tasty and seasoned well. The chips and salsa alone were phenomenal. The young man server was great. We moved into the area almost 10 years ago and around that time we are there and it was ok. Well once the owners son took over he made changes that included revised menu re introducing family recipes and found the right cooks who know their stuff, plus he cooks as well and it has been soo good now for awhile that it's my favorite. The homemade salsa is on another level always consistently tasty that people take out a large container for home. The Carnitas are well cooked and crispy, not like other places where you see pink or a lot of fat. To sit at the bar watching sports with a beer and Nachos is the perfect setting when I'm by myself. The staff is awesome and looking at the amount of customers is one way you know it's gotta be good! read more

The food was outstanding and hospitality very generous!! The chips were fresh, hot, and thin. The salsa mild but flavorful. We ordered two items: The carne asada taco salad and the smoked chicken kale bowl. Both bowls were beautifully decorated. The two different types of meat were grilled and deliciously seasoned. The veggies were firm, yet tender. There was a generous portion of delicious guacamole on both dishes! Overall, each item and it's components were exquisitely seasoned and perfectly cooked. Definitely among the best Mexican food I've ever had. Bonus: the owners were very accommodating to us! It was 96 degrees that day, and the air conditioning in the restaurant was nice and cool, but we sat on the outside patio in the shade with our elderly pet in his carrier. There was a chili garden (and they offer the guests fresh chilis!) with other tall green foliage surrounding the patio. With a slight breeze, the ambiance was inviting and relaxing. Pretty good food. I ordered a relleno and shrimp enchiladas and enchilada was bomb. The relleno didn't taste like a poblano pepper but more a canned pepper. Otherwise I would have given it 4 stars. Hubby got a fajitas platter and he said he'd get it again, minus the cheese. He's just not a cheese fan. We had Cadillac margaritas and they were pretty good. They got served in a pint glass and a shot of grand mariniere on the side. Server was nice and as quick as he could be, serving an entire restaurant by himself (being the server and bartender) We will definitely go back again. If you want good home cooking, this is the place to go. Every time I've been there, it's like walking into your Grandma's kitchen. The smells that greet you as you walk in are amazing! I love their arroz con pollo, Chile Verde, tamales, chili rellenós, and then there's the smoked meats...fantastic! Their salsa is very good not too hot and not too mild, just a nice medium heat and very flavorful. The staff are very friendly and efficient. The restaurant is always clean. Went to this place for the first time, neighbors told me the food was good. We went on a Sunday night to place a takeout order and have a margarita. When you drive up the awning on the front is completely torn up and the place just looks like it needs some up keep. But don't judge a book by its cover. We walked in sat at the bar, explained to the lady that welcomed us that we wanted to place a take out order and have a drink while we wait. She was very helpful answered our questions and took our order. The margarita was marginal they use the gallon sweet and sour mix, nothing special or fresh. She informed us when she brought the drinks it would be about 30 min they were busy, we said ok and she brought us chips and salsa. The chips were warm and the salsa pretty good. The 30 min wait however took over an hour and honestly the food was not worth the wait. We ordered smoked pork enchiladas that were so salty my dad could barely eat them. A cheese quesadilla that was nothing special to write about, a chicken burrito again it was fine but not worth the wait. A chicken and pork taco that were smoked and pretty salty. So not sure if the wait ruined the food or just marginal food. Probably not going back. read more

We eat here all the time - it's a Lockeford staple! You'll get chips and salsa with your food and they'll actually refill them for you - no small consideration since we usually come hungry and go through a basket or two before dinner. The house margaritas are a great blend of tasty and strong - with excellent value. Lots of vegetarian options, including entrees that are filled with vegetables, instead of cheese. This place was a surprising gem found when we stayed near Lockeford for a night. The food was very good and the service was quite friendly. They even had a nice patio where we could have our dog with us. This was much appreciated! Our favorite was their spicy cucumber margaritas.
