Checked out the restaurant week menu at Fuego Primo. It was late January but they already have their Valentine's decor up. This is definitely more of a bar type of vibe. Service was friendly. We tried the strawberry and mango margaritas, the steak enchiladas and ahi tuna tostada, and for dessert the arroz con leche and (because they ran out of churro donuts) vanilla ice cream. Total for two was $40. What a deal. But you get what you pay for. Drinks weren't super strong and the flavors were not as authentic. The rice and beans with the enchilada could use some improvement. And the ice cream was much sweeter than the arroz. Overall, still enjoyable though for a night out, especially for the price. read more

We stopped for a quick bite to eat after winetasting and decided to check out this new spot. The tables are quite small, but I think it's because it is a very small space. They have an outdoor patio as well, but it was too cold to sit outside. There is a small four seat bar inside. I ordered the steak fajitas. I really think they forgot about our order because we sat there for about 40 minutes before we got our food. Even the server came to our table and realized our food wasn't out yet so she had to check on it. By the time I got the fajitas, the meat was overly cooked. The vegetables had shriveled up, and the meat had gone a bit dry. Thank goodness for salsa! We also had a shrimp taco, but it was sad that the tortilla crumbled when we picked it up. Made it to Fuego Prime in Lodi last Sinday. Good weather that day and almost sat in the patio but we settled in the smaller dining room inside to check the Olympic closing ceremony. The service was quick and friendly. I ordered a Mexican Coke and the award winning quesabirria tacos with that hot consume for dippin' and slurpin.' We also ordered the fish tacos, the shrimp ceviche, rice & beans onda side and the cheesed up jalapeños. Those cheese jalapeños were FUEGO!!That melted cheese encased a fresh, HOT , crunchy chili that had me almost tearing' up. Some were mild but some had that scolville scale turned all the way up. My husband and I love Fuego Prime Restaurant!!! The food is prepared beautifully, the flavors are all there. My husband really enjoyed the perfectly grilled lamb chops. My favorite was the ribeye steak tacos, it was perfection, the meat was tender and the homemade corn tortillas were delicious. the Birria is also very good. I tend to gravitate to Mexican restaurants with the best homemade corn and/or flour tortillas. I always felt they have the best food if they take the time to make homemade tortillas, They could have gone to any store, to me, it says a lot. The wait staff was so kind, happy and so great at what the do, making it a fun experience. We purchased some coupons for Fuego Prime around Christmas, gave some as gifts. We were hooked after our first visit, we have been two times since in the last couple months! Nothing changed, all was perfect. Prices are very reasonable, we will be back. We also want to go in the evening so we can sit outside under the lights. They serve breakfast on weekends only, that's our next visit! Plus it feels good to support a small business! Stopped by this Mexican food spot and ordered the papa rellena with al pastor meat and two tacos to go. One of my tacos was missing, which was a little disappointing considering there wwas nobody else in the restaurant so it's not like they were busy. Partly my fault as I should have checked my order before leaving. The service was friendly and attentive, and there was plenty of outdoor and indoor seating with even bar seating. The food looked great and tasted good -- not amazing, but definitely satisfying. They did offer either green or red salsa, which I chose green and was mild. I do wish they had more variety. Also it did not seem like they have a salsa bar which would be nice. I wish they allowed you to order two different meats on the papa rellena but we were told that was not possible. Went for restaurant week today (Sunday late lunch). I was going to say everything failed except ingredient quality, but as I write this I just bit into a big piece of chicken gristle. I had enjoyed the Fuego truck in the past but have not been back there since having an unsafe experience being harassed in the parking lot. I ordered the Lodi restaurant week special. Chicken enchiladas with a horchata and churro donut. There was NO DESSERT I was so disappointed when I brought it home and so were the others who ordered specials. No mention of this or substitutions made. That's a main reason I went. The other main reason was I wanted a good enchilada. The enchilada itself didn't feel like an enchilada, but basic chicken tacos. I can barely tell if there's cheese and if there is, it's a tiny amount. The red sauce was also minimal, dry on top. An enchilada should be DRENCHED and CHEESY. These look nothing like others' reviews. This was like a rolled up corn tortilla other chopped chicken. The lettuce and tomato additions felt strange. The rice and beans are acceptable. The horchata was pretty good but aside from that I'm really disappointed. Lodi/Stockton has a lot of Mexican options with better quality and lower prices, they'll need to step up their game if they want to stick around. Went in to pickup a pastor super burrito and an asada super. Staff service was just ok. They all seemed overwhelmed. Took like ten minutes to pay for my food because there was only one person capable of ringing me up and they had to make a bar drink. Was worth it tho. I'd recommend the super burritos. Came here recently for a family birthday dinner. We were put outside, temperature was 42 degrees...they did have heaters outside, but half of them were out of propane so didn't work. It was COLD...and my mom, being a little older, was having a hard time with the cold. Food took forever to arrive, and arrived in different sections, so we were eating while some people were already done eating. Drinks took forever, and I couldn't even order a second because they never came back to ask me for a second drink. Ended up just drinking water . Service was horrible, and I don't blame the server because she did apologize for everything, we understand it's out of her control. I blame the manager and whoever is in charge, you KNEW we were coming and didn't staff correctly. I ordered cheese enchiladas, got meat. My wife ordered flautas with no sauce, just on the side. The flautas were smothered in it, and she had to scrape it off. It was too spicy for her, so an inconvenience. But we weren't the only ones, and because the food took so long we didn't want to send it back. But there were multiple orders sent back, I don't understand why the orders were so messed up. Decided to give Fuego Prime a try. Went on a Friday around 5:00. Greeted right away by a friendly employee and told we could sit anywhere. Restaurant is very small inside but has many tables outside in a gated courtyard. We ordered 4 different tacos, chicken enchiladas dinner and fresh made flour tortillas. After about 10 minutes the waitress comes back and tells us they are all out of chicken enchiladas. We decide not to add anything additional and will just try the tacos. Takes another 15 minutes for our taco to arrive. When I ask about my flour tortillas she goes to the back and returns telling me they are all out. As far as the tacos go, the homemade corn tortillas are spot on. Some of the best I've had. Taco filling was just average. We had chicken, asada, shrimp and Al pastor. Would be nice if they offered carnitas. Many taco trucks in town serve better. Training going on throughout visit on dining floor. Could be better served to do training outside of dinner time as it took away from dining experience. Not confident in a Mexican restaurant that runs out of enchiladas and tortillas on a Friday night. Incredibly nice people here. We celebrated my father-in-law's 80th birthday here after finding them on yelp. The place was empty when we came in, and I was a bit nervous it was going to be a bust. They made great margs to start, were patient with the kids and the old guy while ordering, and I was able to watch Sunday night football on multiple screens. Decided to wait to try fuego to give the restaurant time to work out the opening kinks and I'm glad we did. I've loved their truck on eight mile for the last couple years and the food at prime is the same- fresh and delicious! The restaurant is tiny, only about 5 seats at the bar and a few tables but the patio area is really nice and large to make up for the tiny inside. The bartender who waited on us was super nice and attentive. We ordered a carne asada super burrito, two pastor tacos, and quesabirria tacos. The pastor tacos were my favorite with the best fresh made corn tortillas. I saw on another person's review that the salsa wasn't good, but I def don't agree. It was sweet from the tomatoes and had the perfect amount of kick and lots of garlic flavor, soo good. Not in Lodi to often, so not familiar with the resturants, tried Fuego Prime for the first time and kinda picky when it comes to mexican food coming from southern Ca. The service was amazing was helped and seated as soon as I walked through the door. Ordered the Quesibirria Tacos and didn't disappoint at all, some of the best Tacos I've had. Got a side of rice and beans which is always too me a good judgement of a Mexican restaurants food as it's the simplest, and both were delicious. Lodi Restaurant Week on Sunday...late lunch takeout. The restaurant seemed understaffed. Each order of enchiladas was in a box. No cheese and barely any sauce or sour cream on the enchiladas, mostly diced chicken and tortillas. Each order had a box of rice and beans that were mixed together because they were in the same box. The churros were missing from all 3 orders. The portions were small and overall it was lacking. I welcome a credit to my card for the missing desserts if the owner cares enough to reply. I stopped by today to try and have dinner with my 8 year old son and that was a failure I never got to try the food at all. The bartender/waitress greeted us nicely and took our order. We were starving and sat for 35-40 minutes my son got upset and asked when was the food coming so I got up and asked the server. She went back and asked and she still said it's going to be a few minutes. I told her to just charge me for the two sodas we had ordered so we could leave and she politely said I was ok I didn't have to pay for the drinks. She also apologized for the wait. I did notice that she started making alcoholic drinks while we were waiting for our food and note that me and my son were the only customers inside by this time. She took the drinks to the back and due to that I have a feeling the cooks took a half hour break while they had our order waiting. As for me I can not judge their food as I never got my order. Where's the fire? Tried this spot opening month and I've been waiting to do a review. The lil video reels did a great job as I was expecting more and was humbled after seeing the spot. This is a tiny spot across from Five window. Parking is awful. We found a spot in the corner lot and it was full of rocks and holes. Inside it's really small all black and needs more vibrant art as it's rather one note. The menu is small but that's not bad if the food is on point and it was a miss and so were the drinks. I got the papa loca thinking it was a baked potato or mashed potato loaded and it was tiny bits of potato. The meat was good at least. My husband got tacos which meat was good again. The issue is we asked for the spiciest sauce which is supposedly their fuego sauce and it was a scale of maybe 1 notch above mild. Maybe it's because they're catering to the American pallet but they should know not to order fuego if they can't handle the heat. So that was disappointing as we love spice. Also the drinks were a miss too. They have an opportunity to bring fresh ingredients and have a good balance of flavors but syrup and over pouring isn't what I look for. I don't mind tasting my liquor but the lime marg was just gross. The passion fruit one was over powered but at least drinkable. I hope they revisit their menu as this place had mostly Mexicans and mi gente should know this ain't the spot. I will revisit possibly but it's hard when el pazifico 2 mins away is way better.
