Love their selection--can always find cheap hidden gems when it comes to records. They have a really large selection of music and music equipment and lots of media which i appreciate. Staff is helpful with recommendations and honored my boyfriend's [stupid] request for the 30% off that was on a 99¢ record (there was a discount sticker on it). They had smiskis before but i haven't been able to find them which is unfortunate because that's what typically brings me in. I like their Zia merch, also wish they had more record themed stickers though. Seems like every time I go they have less and less of what I like and go in for. I love coming to Zia. I've never been to the Bethany home. I used to go when it was on Camelback. So since I was in the area, I had to go check it out. You can't go to Zia without buying something of course I love looking at their books. They always have some great deals. My husband usually goes for the records and my kids look at everything. First the store was at 7th Ave and Indian School then 19th Ave and Indian School then 19th Ave and Camelback. They have some of the coolest items in the store. Loved it here so much!!! Was shopping for records and the selection was amazing! They had tons of modern pop, country, rock, and metal. I spent so long looking at all the vinyl for pop artists! Their CD collection was impressive too. They also had a huge selection of funko pops, movies, and merch. Prices were fair too. This location is not in a highly desirable area and I am under the influence that they are moving or will be moving to a new location in the near future. Zia records is a staple to Phoenix, Arizona. Zia used to be known as the place to get every throwback piece of vinyl as well as movies. They have now moved into a space where they also offer to buy and sell new and used records, CD's, DVD's, Blue-rays, Movies, Various Games, Consoles, Vinyl, Clothing, Books, Backpacks, Incense, Toys, Action Figures, and other silly random products for the inner nerd in each of us. This location is extremely filthy so don't be surprised if you happen to slip on crumbs on the floor or opened snacks. (Like I mentioned in an unpleasant environment). There are plenty of transients outside the area, but they hardly bother the locals. If you're not used to seeing random folks do the most awkward and random things, you won't be shocked. Either way, Zia is the place to be for every throw-back you'd ever want. Highly recommended for the geeks, nerds, music buffs, hippies, tough cookies and gamers. read more

If you are a buyer you might like this place. But if you want to sell your vinyl don't expect a good price. They did not want over half of my records and it took me 20 minutes to be offered less than two bucks for what little they would buy. Not enough to pay for my gasoline to drive there. This one employee was extremely rude to me, he had long hair with glasses and little big. I was asking for help and when I was being helped he was being aggressive with the cds that I was looking for, but I noticed he was nicer to other customers. Other than that it was good, I went to look for help from another employee and he was much nicer (shorter hair with glasses). read more

Any Zia Records I've been too has had kind employees that are super chill and helpful. It's big store and I'm not familiar with vinyl quite yet. I am slowly starting my collection. I was on a mission to look for a few particular albums and found them between the three locations, so that's cool. Plus, I love supporting local as opposed to buying them on EBay. Good little record store with fun knick knacks, which of course I bought... lots of anime stuff. I bought Christmas presents here. I'd be back! love that they have rewards points too. read more

Holy new location, Batman! What a MASSIVE store! It rivals the size of the old Amoeba in Hollywood, but has better stock, because it's Zia, duh. I drag myself to any and all Zia locations whenever I'm in the area, and have been since I was old enough to have an allowance large enough to allow me to buy CDs and records. Over the years Zia has branched out into games, books, movies and ephemera and I'm not mad about it -- I myself have gotten hundreds if not thousands of bucks in trade from Zia by bringing in my gently used wares of the years. I'm also super glad that Zia has a pretty sizable online store as well, which I didn't discover 'til the dark times of 2020. Ordering weird Wii games and DVDs of cringe 2000s reality TV shows and old comedies really helped us get through the dirges of quarantine. Thank you Zia for mailing us all the dumb things. And for making a place that my mom can find goodies to mail me too, because without it I don't think my family would ever find stuff to give eachother at the holidays. read more

I really loved seeing all the novelties they had. It was a blast from the past of a lot of 80's figurines and collectables. It felt like a museum almost- very well curated from the right, all the wat to the center and then there was the apparel in the middle and records in the back. I didn't even get to look at any music because I was so captivated by all the things I saw. I wanted everything! Then on the left side there is a huge Funko Pop collection that had everything you could think of almost. I ended up purchasing a unique greeting card & my son found a CD that I bought too. The prices were affordable for the value of the items. I most definitely will be back to scour the music and dvd section and to buy some of the figures that I can't stop thinking about. read more

Brand new location that opened up not too long ago. Typical Zia merch. In line with all the others. I did not interact with any staff when I was here, but this location is well-staffed. This one is closest to my home and in a plaza with lots of food choices so shopping here makes it one of the more convenient ones for me. Even though I'm about mid-way between here and Bookman's, I'd probably opt for this Zia because of it's proximity to other shops/food. I'm all about efficiency. read more

I don't even know what to say. I'm completely perplexed of the treatment I received at this location. The employees should be ashamed of their behavior and management and customer service is a thing of distant past. The whole culture built through the decades I've shopped at Zia has been demolished notable when original owner passed away. The death wasn't just of the owner, but of the chain as a whole. Long story short the trade counter attendant got offended when I told her I wasn't accepting her unreasonably low trade offer, piled my things and told me to leave the store (I still hadn't purchased the records I found while I was waiting for my trade offer). I indicated a few of my items were now damaged and not in the condition I brought them in as, and this attendant became unreasonable, yelling at me and throwing a tantrum and just telling me to leave the store now. At this point I just wanted to leave but low and behold upon further viewing of my items, the clerk hadn't even given me all my items back that I came in with before demanding that I leave the store again. I tried talking with the management team, but they all gave blank stares and said absolutely nothing. I even asked if they had anything to say and still not a word. I was literally talking in a normal voice when one of the managers told me to stop yelling. It was very embarrassing. Mid sentence the manager walked away and sent someone new over. I threw in the towel, collected all of my items, counted my losses and left. I've been loyal to this company for decades and this is by far the absolute worst place to trade and do business with. A fair trade is a thing of the past with Zia which is what I was shown today. Tucson and Thunderbird and the realest locations this place has. read more

This place is HUGE!! I love going here and then going next door for boba. They have a huge variety of items, and their books and movies are pretty cheap. I think some of their other stuff is a bit expensive, but I still really enjoy coming here to browse through all the new stuff. Love Zia, but some workers lack common sense. I called ahead (as this location is a 30 minutes drive for me) to see if they had a particular new vinyl release. The young lady I spoke to said "yes they have 3 left". I was happy to hear that and asked if she could put one aside for me and I'll be there in 30 minutes. She said "yah sure thing". When I arrived I asked the person at the front (who happened to be the lady I spoke to on the phone) for the vinyl I had requested. She said "oh shoot I forgot to grab that for you" and then left the counter to go check. She returned with bad news. She told me the 3 copies they have are all on hold for other customers and that they don't have a copy to sell me. I was very confused and disappointed as this could have easily been verified before I made the drive. The young lady wasn't too empathetic or apologetic nor did she recognize her mistake as I had to explain to her why I was confused. She offered to order it for me and told me I could have a chance to get copy if one of these customers fail to pick them up. That's beside the point, I've worked retail, I get it, mistakes happen but this was so easily avoidable and required minimum effort to keep a customer happy. My time was wasted and I lost confidence in a record store I normally enjoy visiting. read more

It was somewhat of a bummer. I actually used to work at Zia located in Las Vegas and decided to stop in here during a recent trip. This store has no organization. One of the biggest issues with Zia is they end up having too much Bulls**t that takes away from the music itself. The best part however about these store is that it is a one stop shop'; fantastic around the holidays. If you want to buy your girlfriend a pair of socks, some old movies, maybe a record and some cute little bag, some here. I was surprised to see that they became somewhat of a "Goodwill" when it comes to their used stuff; specifically their T-shirts. This store is like a huge flew market and I wouldn't even include the word "Records" in the name. Their selection is Meh and the prices are about average though whoever is at the trade counter needs to decide if a record with dog ears and groove scratches on the vinyl is really properly priced at $89. The staff seems nice but rather pretentious; in other words: D Bags. I think I will stick to the smaller shops that don't care about carrying everything that is not related to music. read more

Even during COVID-19 Zia is still here to provide you with your music and movie needs. They are offering free shipping from their online store or you can opt for curbside pick up. They have been uploading preowned records and titles that previously you couldn't find on their online store to help you virtually browse from the safety of your home. While I miss being able to browse in person, they've been able to save my mental health a bit during this time. If you're in the mood for some new music or want to grab a few movies I would definitely recommend ordering something for Zia to help them out! read more

Called for confirmation on inventory for an item in their smallest display case to avoid a 45 minute drive and was received with immediate condescending dialogue and reluctance to help me. Wasted an hour and a half of my life getting in and out of there for a question that could have been answered had the individual taken the 5 steps required to answer my question. "A lot of pokemon cards on display" according to the individual who didnt want to check, there were maybe a total of 15 that I saw on active display. Absolutely no reason for them to be as condescending as they were and is borderline write-uppable in most places of work. Good to see Zia making good employment decisions on individuals who are eager to help potential customers. You can go here but don't ask for help i guess. read more

The selection of movies, vinyls and other little collectibles don't disappoint! Very big on the inside, employees were all kind and helpful and you could spend hours inside just shopping and looking at everything. Boyfriend got a bunch of different horror movies for his collection and I really enjoyed more of the little collectibles they had. Just be aware of the area... not in the best place in Phoenix and there's a lot of sketchy people in and around the building and surrounding area. read more

Improvement needed on service. Don't waste your time and gas trying to sell/trade here. They'll just give you a lowball offer and when you ask for a breakdown or some reasoning, they'll dodge the question with excuses. (I asked the guy if he could show me a visual breakdown of what he was offering me for each item, to which he just shrugged and said that it's all on his computer screen and he can't show me lol. They were offering me $30 total for one video game, a board game, one vinyl, one new vinyl, and THREE new exclusive colored vinyls that were both sold out online and they clearly didn't have in stock). Frankly this is an insult to the customer, especially considering the fact we have to leave and trust our stuff with them while they do "their own stock research". $30 barely covered the retail price for one of the exclusive vinyls I had bought, not including shipping lol. The fact that they couldn't even offer 80% of new items' retail value is a joke. It just shows that they are more focused on the profits/final price they want to place on the items when they flip to sell them, rather than actually seeing both the value and interplay of music, exclusive items, and client retention/satisfaction. If I were Zia, I would at least try to invest and purchase the exclusives near retail value, knowing that these are limited online gems now available at a local shop, not only saving the customer time spent online and shipping time/fees, but also giving them hope that they might come across more similar gems at Zia in the future. I wouldn't doubt if many of the overpriced non-indie/retail exclusives they sell in-store were bought at a ripoff offer compared to what their original owners had once purchased them for. It's also ridiculous how after stating my reluctance and questioning the value of the exclusive items, the employee continued to give me my receipt and money, assuming that I was still going to give it all up. Maybe I made the mistake telling them it was my first time bringing stuff in, expecting they would be communicative and somewhat helpful, because instead I was treated like a nuisance. Not to mention, I had brought everything neatly packed and arranged when I left my stuff with them. When I rejected their money, they immediately handed everything back to me without my bags and with my boxes opened. It's kinda sad because I like going to Zia, but this experience has left me disheartened with how their employees handle business. read more
