A must visit for book lovers, music enthusiasts, and creative types in general. This place is seriously a haven! My first visit was over an hour and I barely scratched the surface. The metaphysical and esoteric section was particularly intriguing but there's truly something for everyone. They offer a great buy back program as well. Such reasonable prices! Price: amazing value Food: none Drinks: none Service: super friendly staff Ambiance: rows upon rows of books, music, memorabilia, and Sanrio gifts Good for: gifts, book lovers, musicians, and vinyl

Wow, what a place! How is it I've never been here?? Only thing missing is a cafe! Sell, buy books, Musical instruments, dvds, magazines, games, gameboys, you name it. The store is huge and they even sell jewelry (used) and Knick knacks ( also used). You could easily spend a few hours here and some serious cash. Great selection!

What an awesome place. Don't let the fact that it's a trade and resale shop fool you--the store is clean, organized, and full of high-quality finds. We were especially excited about the huge selection of books and board games, which is what originally drew us in. There were also some really cool instruments to check out. On top of that, the customer service is always friendly and helpful. Bonus points for being dog-friendly too. Well-behaved, leashed pups are welcome, which makes it an even better spot to browse and spend a few bucks on a hot summer day.

A great welcoming sign inside BOOKMANS, Phx, AZ.

Epic and plenty of books to hide away and freshen up on your literature skills. This place has everything music related, comic related, eclectic findings, retro related, magazines, maps, jewelry, game systems, band systems, vinyl, CD's, DVDs, Bluerays, players, hardware, software, and and all books ranging from the early ages to more contemporary ideas. One could imagine themselves with any question in their mind related to space, science, the human body, plants, death, life, spirituality, psychology, humor, food, philosophy, medical, ideologies, animals, lifestyle, legalities, governments, religion and sooooo much more. One can literally find all the answers in this one location. FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN: There are several sweet spots for families which include a children's area where kids can explore their inner desires for reading. Those into anime can get their fix with the various rows upon rows of toys, books and magazines. Comic fans will absolutely find quality here from the early hero's to todays newest and upcoming hero's. Literally, if you can think it, you can find it here. The staff is amazing and this place is ran like a well oiled machine with a cozy atmosphere - got questions; folks here are happy to answer. Bookmans is always accepting new and used products (all of the above) and you can either get store credit or cash on the spot. Large backpacks are left at the counter, food and drinks are welcome as long as patrons are courteous and clean up after themselves. Restrooms are assigned male and female and are pretty clean. Overall, I would recommend and give yourself time to browse, you'll be glad you did.

Great used book and entertainment store in the Phoenix area. We stopped in to see what it was like and walked away with a ton of books for a fraction of the cost. They also purchase used items and I plan to see if they might buy some stuff soon. We will definitely be back.

I've been to the different Bookman's many times. Yes it is dusty and somewhat eclectic but if you are looking to get used DVD's like British Tv series at discount prices it is the place to shop. Used books that may be out of print or if you just don't want to pay new prices and shipping on Amazon is also a good deal. I also like to peruse the gallery, most of the time I don't see anything I need to buy but once and a while I do buy something interesting. It takes a bit of time to look and you do need to be patient but if you are a voracious reader you can rally save a good deal of money. Plus they buy back books and sometimes decor. I have taken many boxes of items there and gotten store credit, do check it out if you haven't already been!!

Bookman's is an ethical business and I always felt that a fair price (in store credit) was given for my books.

When we arrived, I realized I remembered this spot from when I was a kid, I just hadn't been back since I was younger. This spot is absolutely STUFFED with books, comic books, VHS tapes and more. You could spend quite a long time wandering around looking at all of the books they have to offer. It can be slightly overwhelming especially if you are looking for something specific as there wasn't really any clear guidance on where to find certain sections. We still had a lot of fun though wandering around and seeing what we could find. If you are looking for the prices, they are written in pencil on the inside of the books. You can find a mixture of mostly used books along with some new books. They have a cute shop cat that you can sometimes spot wandering around, or asleep at the front. The woman who was working the register the day we visited was friendly! They also had a cart out-front with a number of books that were free to grab. There is plenty of parking out-front.

Once I was got to the store, I had to explore. I think that if one were to regularly visit Books, he/she would find some rare editions and other gems. Also, they had what looked like reproductions of banned book announcements posted around the store: all were of classic novels that we can't imagine not having access to as students. (See photos: Charlotte's Web, Huck Finn, Fahrenheit 451...) They were quite entertaining, in a disturbing way. They had the effect of making me feel so grateful that past efforts of censorship in the US had failed. In 2024, this is still a real threat. Tiny stores like this one are real treasures. Let's keep them in business.

Everyone I interacted with was nice (trade counter & cashier I dealt with). Missing star is because one of the cashiers let some other lady cut in front of the line of people. The two other ladies she was with walked to the back of the line. Either way, it's a comfort to have my own movie library. Zia Records recently helped me expand my collection. The store is overflowing with racks, stacks, bins and bookcases of movies, books, games, records, CDs and more. It's a little overwhelming, but I found almost everything I wanted. And I signed up for the free loyalty program when I checked out. The cashier didn't clearly explain how you accumulate rewards, but I'm willing to trust the process. The big thing is they said they don't sell your info to third parties; I did ask before agreeing to participate. As for value, I spent $15 on two pre-owned BluRay movies. I was satisfied with the prices. It was less expensive than an online site. The only reason this isn't a five-star review is because I think the store could be better organized. The sale bins aren't alphabetized, so searching for something specific would be very time consuming. The movies on the shelves are alphabetized, but some were in the wrong sections. I love the concept of this secondhand store. It's so good for consumers and the environment to repurpose and recycle. I recommend a visit and I know I'll be back. Thanks, Zia.

It reminded me I have never written a review. Well, let me tell you something about myself. I adore books. I could never go 100 percent digital. In fact, I rarely use an apparatus for reading. I love the smell, feel, divine touch of a great book in my hand. I could spend my entire life, every day visiting books stores at author visits. Author meet and greets are my happy place. I am secretly envious of these people who put words down on paper and make them come to life. I might be quick witted with the tongue but lack the talent with the pen. Sooooooo, I bow down to them. Gardner's Book Service has been good to me and our community over the years. Many people might not be familiar with them since they are more a book service than a book store. They really are the best bunch of folks! Here you will find: knowledgeable staff, great teacher in-service classes, author visits, contests at times, a great grant program generously provided by Mr. Parks in memorial to his wonderful wife Barbara, and of course, books, books, and more books. Troy is the general manager and his staff are very good at what they do. They are open to the public so stop by and take a look. Yes, teachers you get a discount too. Happy reading.
