If your bringing books here think twice. I brought 14 hardback books in perfect condition and they offered me $2.31. If it wasn't so hot I would've taken them back and donated all to the local library. The attitude of 3 employees was unkind.

Crime and mystery... mystery and crime.

I've been obsessed with reading as of late. There's no reason to pay full MSRP for a gently used books. There's so many used books in available just like kitties and puppies. Don't buy new. Buy gently used. This location of Half Price Books is located right off the 51 & Cactus. Super convenient location and relatively easy to get in and out of. There is plenty of ample parking as they're adjacent to a Target store. The entryway is clean and the employees are so friendly! Just about everyone greeted me and a few asked me if I needed any assistance. I found the crime, mystery, thriller and horror sections and was left to browse for almost an hour. The store itself is also quite clean, well organized and so reasonably priced! I picked up a few Stephen King novels to add to my collection and a Joe Hill novel. There were several other books on my TBR list I found. I could have filled up my trunk with books, but I opted to just take home a few titles. Juliann (sp? sorry! I didn't catch the spelling of your name. I'm so sorry!) took my hard-earned cash and her friendly demeanor added to my pleasant shopping experience at this Half Price Books location. "So, you like Stephen King, huh?" "Yep!" "Meh. He's pretty OK, I guess!" LOL. I signed up for their e-mail newsletter which means I'll get coupons and I shall definitely be back! I am looking forward to completing my TBR list reasonably with the assistance of Half Price Books!

People who work here are miserable and rude. Selling books shouldn't be uncomfortable or difficult; won't be back.

This spot truly is an indie bookstore, there is a little bit of nostalgia here and of course books. I love hole in the wall indie book stores. There aren't a lot of them out there so I get excited when I find one. I read a mix of genres. In the horror section I saw that they had a Dean Koontz special. I've always wanted to read his work and this felt like the perfect time to start. I bought my first Koontz books today because of this store. I will be back especially for the dogs and the great prices.

When we arrived, I realized I remembered this spot from when I was a kid, I just hadn't been back since I was younger. This spot is absolutely STUFFED with books, comic books, VHS tapes and more. You could spend quite a long time wandering around looking at all of the books they have to offer. It can be slightly overwhelming especially if you are looking for something specific as there wasn't really any clear guidance on where to find certain sections. We still had a lot of fun though wandering around and seeing what we could find. If you are looking for the prices, they are written in pencil on the inside of the books. You can find a mixture of mostly used books along with some new books. They have a cute shop cat that you can sometimes spot wandering around, or asleep at the front. The woman who was working the register the day we visited was friendly! They also had a cart out-front with a number of books that were free to grab. There is plenty of parking out-front.

Once I was got to the store, I had to explore. I think that if one were to regularly visit Books, he/she would find some rare editions and other gems. Also, they had what looked like reproductions of banned book announcements posted around the store: all were of classic novels that we can't imagine not having access to as students. (See photos: Charlotte's Web, Huck Finn, Fahrenheit 451...) They were quite entertaining, in a disturbing way. They had the effect of making me feel so grateful that past efforts of censorship in the US had failed. In 2024, this is still a real threat. Tiny stores like this one are real treasures. Let's keep them in business.

In fact, to be honest, Target is probably my wife's favorite store, and it's where she goes to just go for a walk, occasionally picking up groceries, finding gifts for people, and even picking up something for herself every now and then. It's sometimes scary to see what she comes up with. Even so, this Target store is easy to maneuver, has a great selection and sales, usually has items in stock, and has helpful associates. Besides the store itself, it is easy to use the app to see what promotions there are, to earn Target Circle rewards, and to keep track of what we purchase. Speaking of Target Circle, it's a free program (https://www.target.com/l/target-circle/-/N-pzno9) where you can receive personalized and automatically applied deals, earn rewards to save and spend, and even receive discounts for verified military, college students, and teachers. You can even unlock added value by getting a Target Circle credit card or paying for a Target Circle 360 premium membership both with many more benefits of their own. You can find out more about the Paradise Valley store at https://www.target.com/sl/paradise-valley/233. It is open daily from 8 AM to 10 PM. There are separate hours for Target Optical, CVS Pharmacy, AT&T and prepaid cell phone activations, Starbucks, and when beer and wine are available. This store offers all of this plus fresh grocery and Ulta Beauty Target. It also offers order pickup, drive-up, and same-day delivery. I know now that the holidays are over, it's only a matter of time before I do some more major spending at Target. But one piece of advice...don't randomly wear khakis and a red polo or other customers will come up to you thinking you work there. Yes, it has happened to me once before, and I sure learned from that experience (though I actually think I knew where the items were that they were looking for).
