So I am a retro game & system lover but also a novice at least compared to some of my friends. I really appreciate the fact that stores like this exist & I like supporting them by buying from them. The staff I've found is hit or miss some friendly & helpful others not so much. My issue is on 2 separate occasions I purchased a Sony play station 3 controller and a SNES controller and both turned out to be fakes after I was told by staff they were real Nintendo or Sony products. So either they are knowingly lying or don't know the products they sell the way one would expect them to. If you buy from them Be careful and don't take their word for it. Fakes are abundant and it's hard to tell if you don't really know retro stuff. read more

I like trying to support places that aren't national chains when I can and fallout games has a nice selection. For the most part their prices are reasonable and employees are friendly. If you are looking for more retro games and consoles I would definitely check this place out. They have a lot of older stuff that really brings back the nostalgia, plus the usual suspects for newer consoles. I haven't tried to trade or sell anything here so I can't speak to that, but I'd recommend stopping in if you are on the hunt for something specific and don't want to go the internet route. read more

Would highly recommend Fallout Games. Brought over some Xbox and Wii Games and the guy was very friendly. Only offered around $170 for 30 games, but it's still much more than you would get at GameStop. The worker said they pay the most for trade-ins and I believe it. Yes, you can make double the amount of money on eBay but if you are looking to trade-in games, it's better to support a local business than a corrupt chain where they'll give you $1 per game if you're lucky. read more

I have been stopping into this location for years. All of my previous experiences have been great, but recently, Fallout has far exceeded my expectations. About a month ago, I purchased a modded gameboy SP and a few games. I hadn't used the device prior to the return policy expiring. I went in last week and spoke to Chris about the life of the battery. No questions asked, he held aside a battery for me. Today I came in and Chris helped me install the new battery. He also said that if I had any further issues, I could call in and he would get another battery from another location if needed. This is the epitome of quality customer service. Nice employees wide variety of games & consoles for cheap prices ( I got a psp for only 70$)

Bought a $25 Dualshock 3 for my PS3. The owner had a three more in a plastic bag in the back. I finally tried the controller. It didn't work right. I called the store, and the same owner said he would clean it later. It was too late to bring it in; so, I decided to clean it myself. I took it apart, and it looked like it was previously disabled [even had a recycled battery pack with made by an Arizona company]. The controller was a laborious process to reassemble, and then I just said hell with it. The $25 was a lesson to never shop at Fallout games again. I should save the critique on their selection being overpriced, but why bother? I am not going back there again. read more

I went in to buy a few GameCube controllers and some games to enjoy my off day. We started talking about games and systems and how much I enjoyed my favorite franchise, Metroid. Well the manager stumbled upon a copy of that game and it was a fairly decent price! It's so crazy how I wasn't even really looking for the game, it ended up being at Fallout Games of all places! I bought a SNES clone system from Gamerztek on eBay for $42. The ebay seller/manager of Fallout Games, Scott, called me and told me that he was located in Phoenix, and he had noticed that I lived nearby. The SNES clone I bought was on sale for $25 in the store. He said he'd like to save me some money. How nice, right? He cancelled my ebay purchase and told me if I came in and mentioned his name and offer, I could get it for the Black Friday sale price. I was too sick to come in for a week, but when I came into Fallout Games on Tatum, Aaron, the guy running that shop, called Scott, and sure enough, he honored the price. I was impressed by the selection of games, consoles, and accessories. l'm so glad I discovered FG! read more

Been to three different locations in the valley, this one the most frequently. Staff is almost always friendly and helpful. I've been here to buy and sell games/systems. They actually tell you how much they'll give for each item (unlike other used places in the valley). Usually has better prices than most used games at other places. read more

If you're coming here to trade or sell anything be prepared to wait. Apparently their policy is to serve every paying customer first. like they will stop in the middle of your trade to service a customer or answer the phone or answer any questions than anybody has in great detail. you know if it wasn't for people trading in used items they wouldn't have any inventory to sell they should consider that. read more

Employees are totally clueless. Asked a very simple question about the trade value of an item and it took 20 minutes and 3 employees to answer my question. I have been a gamer most of my life. Fallout has systems and games dating back to the 80s. They have a great selection of games, consoles and accessories most competitively priced. I am able to find all of classic Nintendo and Sega games and consoles in great condition with a warranty that stands behind it. I am able to trade in my games at a fair price. In addition they also have the newest products on the market. A great place to shop and receive expert advice at no charge. read more

If you thought GameStop was a rip off then avoid this place. Strictly only sells used items and the prices are usually higher than GameStop and from my experience the trade ins are about the same. Except you do get better deals at GameStop if you do store credit. Soo...yea..sucks read more

This place was recomended to me when I asked someone about game guides. I spend a lot of money on games and I especially like the older ones. I was very excited to check it out. My expectations may have been unrealistic. At first, it was exactly what I expected, a hole-in-the-wall with stacks of old games. I was immediately hit with the smell of wacky smoke (yes, that kind). I don't really care about that, but it colors the rest of the experience. Everything in the shop was dirty. I had to wash the ick off my hands after leaving. The books were arranged in a piling method that could be described as "arranged by a tornado." You would have to move every single one to find the one you need. That's only if it's there at all. The games are only arranged by system type. They aren't alpha order or even grouped by series or anything. Again, have fun searching through every single one. That's only if it has a jacket. The ones with no case are in untouchable piles under glass in the, now familiar, tornado style. If you are a collector, don't bother. You will not find anything in decent shape here. Everything is dirty or damaged. You can find a Color Gameboy with a sticker that says "color does not work" or a Dreamcast that's cracked down the top. 99% of the game cases I looked at appeared to have been chewed. At the register with a couple games, I was told they wouldn't take my AmEx. The woman behind the counter tells me, "We literally take ANYTHING else." What a slap in the face! You mean, you will take a check in 2015, but you won't take an AmEx? Is that supposed to make me feel better about being refused business? It doesn't. I glanced down at the register sign which says "no refunds." So you want me to take a risk on your shady, used games, but you won't take a credit card from the highest rated credit card company in the world? Good luck with that business model. At least put a sign on the door or something so I know not to bother entering. I'll go back to this store when they have joined the rest of us in the 21st century and want to be taken seriously as a legitimate business. For now, I'm going to stick to the 1000+ other stores that sell games in the Phoenix metro area and the endless online options. read more

The guys that work here are always friendly. What I like best about Fallout is that they carry a huge selection of vintage Consoles, Games and Accessories. I have several older gaming systems and have a lot of fun playing games that I loved growing up - I've been able to get all of them here - as well replace games and accessories! They warranty all their games for 7 days - so you don't have to worry about it not working (unlike purchasing used off of the internet). They have fair trade-in values. The store is organized by gaming systems so it makes it easy to find what your looking for - or just ask! They really know their stuff. read more

I just left this location, and have to leave a horrible review for the worker at this location. I told him I had driven 45 minutes and his response was yeah so did I. I offered to wait while he processed a new game so that I could buy it and he said he hast to keep it at least one day and sent me away. I was ready to buy about $100 worth of cartridges and I refuse to do it at this location. For the record the other locations are great and I've always had great customer service there. read more

I bought a wii, controllers and a whole bunch of games a couple of days ago. Today, We just realized that the controllers didn't match. One was motion plus and one wasn't. I know nothing about video games and systems, but had asked the sales lady if the controllers matched when we bought them because i knew if they didn't my kids would fight over them. Long story short, I went to exchange the wrong controller for a motion plus remote. The people at fallout games explained that the system normally comes with the normal remote and not the motion plus one, but they exchanged it for the motion plus one without charging me. They apologized for any confusion and were extremely helpful. This is such great customer service and I will now shop there more often. I'm seriously impressed!!! read more

They have a standard amount of stock in this store. I didn't stay and look for too long because I was only picking up a Sega Gen 2 system they had on hold for me. The customer service was good but nothing really exceptional. They had old ColecoVision games, Atari, etc. However, no Jaguar system :( My biggest gripe is that they didn't know anything about the 10% off coupon from the Yelp app. When you check in, a coupon pops up for 10% which you are then supposed to show to the cashier. They didn't know anything about it, but gave me the discount in good faith. This is not the first time this has happened with a business, management really needs to communicate with their staff better. read more
