Always nice to know that there is still a physical bookstore to go to, when you're just trying to find that one special good book, the perfect cookbook and that hard to find magazine that no one else seems to carry. I've also gotten lots of really good little gifts, cards and toys as well, not to mention, a great place to meet a friend for a cup of coffee at the Starbucks. Not always a lot of people around to help you with the books, but when you do find one, they are a wealth of information.

The Barnes & Noble inside Desert Ridge felt quite old and dusty, but it had a great selection of food in larger portions. The Starbucks inside wasn't clean, and the dark atmosphere didn't give off the best vibe. The whole place could really use some innovation, but the customer service was excellent. Everyone was super friendly, and they offered a wide variety of everything. As a Barnes & Noble enthusiast, I appreciated the unique small items they had, in addition to the huge selection of books. It was nice to walk around, get warm, and enjoy the cozy, chill atmosphere. Plus, it gave me a chance to explore and grab some great books for my flight back home. The value of the books was similar to California; not much different. The only real difference was the tax.

I don't see many Barnes and Noble anymore. I used to go to a really nice one(Westside Pavilion, Pico & Westwood) in LA in the 90s that closed down. This store is in a nice, upscale mall in Desert Ridge(far north phoenix). The book selection is great and I also enjoyed a hot cup of Starbucks Java at their cafe. The atmosphere is nice with nice outdoor mallcourt seating as well. I subtract one star for no electric to charge my smart phone. Note: I did find some outlets to plug my phone next to the lit up palm trees in the outside mall court. Recommended bookshop and coffee/tea cafe.

I love books, and I love them on my kindle (downloaded from my local library for free). Yet, there's something about going into a bookstore and opening a physical book, turning it over, thumbing through the pages, which the digital version just doesn't deliver. That feeling can still be found here. I picked up several titles of interest (checked my Goodreads to verify that I hadn't read any before, checked my library online to see if they could be found there--not everything is perfect in my digital world, and breathed deeply the aroma of ink on paper). How refreshing to still be able to do this plus the a/c in the store was awesome.

    Big, beautiful bookstore with coffee!!!

I came in to hopefully find the Obama in pictures photo/ biography... David appears to help me in my quest, THANK YOU DAVID! the only reason I gave them four stars instead of five is because they didn't have it in stock and it would take 5-7 business days, i went ahead and ordered and can't what to receive my call that it is ready for pick up! David is the man!!!

I can spend hours in B&N! This location is always clean. Inventory is stocked. The entry displays are good representations of what has been recently released. Staff is helpful. Doesn't hurt to have a Starbucks inside a well.

This is definitely my favorite B&N in the Phoenix metro area. Be it book releases, store events, or the holiday rush, they are always organized and pleasant. An employee finally talked me into becoming a member, and it has really paid off. The 10% member discount, combined with the email discounts, which range from 20-30% off, for a total of 30-40% off your purchase. You do have to pay attention though. Sometimes, they don't take the right amount; for example, Christmas Eve, the cashier took of 25% instead of 30%. The difference was less than $2 for my purchase, so it's not a big deal, just remember to make sure you get the appropriate discount. The employees are always helpful and they've always been well stocked for the things that I've needed and wanted, which is typically comic/Marvel/DC, classic novels, Harry Potter things, and vinyl. They have a nice vinyl selection. There is a Starbucks inside this location and they have no problem making the secret menu items, like the Pokemon Go drink.

A great Barnes and Noble with a fantastic book selection. My only suggestion would be to add more food options at the cafe.

I took the time to stop in a few weeks ago to pick out something for my daughter's birthday. The staff is delightful and incredibly helpful. They specialize in mystery, crime, thrillers, fantasy, & fiction, with several autographed first editions (including a hardcover copy of Twilight I noticed behind the glass doors of a small bookcase). There's a featured Diana Gabaldon section with everything Outlander-related you can think of including Scottish cocktail and cookbooks. They have a few very cool book clubs, including the Hardboiled book club, Croak and Dagger book club, and Sci-Fi book club. They also have author readings and signings often. You can attend these events by Zoom if you don't want to come in person. Their website has an extensive calendar and list of all activities and events. You can also join their mailing list and receive emails which I did at the counter. My first trip in I got several classic books and some ACOTAR books for my daughter that she had on her list. I also got a few fun ones from a special Jane Austen table set up near the front entrance. My daughter wanted to return to check out the selection a few weeks later and ended up getting additional classics, including Dostoevsky, and an anime tarot card pack. There's also a small selection of journals, literary themed merchandise and socks, and a small beverage case for drinks. Restroom for customers inside.

When we arrived, I realized I remembered this spot from when I was a kid, I just hadn't been back since I was younger. This spot is absolutely STUFFED with books, comic books, VHS tapes and more. You could spend quite a long time wandering around looking at all of the books they have to offer. It can be slightly overwhelming especially if you are looking for something specific as there wasn't really any clear guidance on where to find certain sections. We still had a lot of fun though wandering around and seeing what we could find. If you are looking for the prices, they are written in pencil on the inside of the books. You can find a mixture of mostly used books along with some new books. They have a cute shop cat that you can sometimes spot wandering around, or asleep at the front. The woman who was working the register the day we visited was friendly! They also had a cart out-front with a number of books that were free to grab. There is plenty of parking out-front.

Once I was got to the store, I had to explore. I think that if one were to regularly visit Books, he/she would find some rare editions and other gems. Also, they had what looked like reproductions of banned book announcements posted around the store: all were of classic novels that we can't imagine not having access to as students. (See photos: Charlotte's Web, Huck Finn, Fahrenheit 451...) They were quite entertaining, in a disturbing way. They had the effect of making me feel so grateful that past efforts of censorship in the US had failed. In 2024, this is still a real threat. Tiny stores like this one are real treasures. Let's keep them in business.

I walk in to Bookman's and often find displays that are Arizona focused in a way that makes you feel and know this place is home town friendly. No big box impersonal feels here! I frequent this store and stop in just because I'm passing by. As an avid reader, I read about 50 books a year, Bookman's is a great place to buy paper books at a cheaper price. My favorite part about local shops like Bookman's is how they don't shy away from displaying banned books all year long! I have to read at least one banned books a month! There's gotta be something in the banned books they don't want us to know and I'm determined to read as many as possible. Interestingly enough, this store is full of "entertainment treasures" too. Music, musical instruments and even gaming equipment can be purchased here. The only thing missing is a social lounge with a coffee bar. We'd probably go even more often if there were a coffee bar inside. Return Factor: 100%
