Very friendly greeting as we entered by the shop owner, who we engaged with him throughout the visit which was nice. I brought my wife and they discussed grandkids, pop culture, and military stories while I explored the well organized and clean store. Everything was displayed nicely and clearly labeled with prices. They have a nice selection of current & past comics, some nice slabs and a couple $1 & discount bins. My wife picked up (4) Funko Pops (BTS) for our Daughter. Plenty of great stuff to look through and a little something for most fans. We really enjoyed our conversation & visit, and will definitely be back when visiting the area. Till then "We can meet on the Porch" a line from a great story shared with us about meeting William Shatner. read more

Got scammed by the dude, he forced me to buy a comic after I read it in the store. I was killing time with a couple friends, I don't even like comic books. There were no signs or anything saying if I read it I had to buy it. I picked up a random comic (he saw me do it and didn't say anything) and flipped through a couple pages. I put it back on the shelf and he said I have to buy it because it was now "Used". On my way out of the store he used a rude tone and made me buy it before leaving. Bad experience, will never go back there. If there was signage or something that explained I'd have to buy it, I wouldn't have read it in the first place. read more

Get a receipt when shopping here. I bought 4 Japanese Surging Sparks booster packs at 5.99 each. Somehow my total was 32 dollars. 6 x 4 is 24, so how did I get to 32? Only after leaving did I realize that I didn't see any tip screen, which is the only reason I can think of for the major increase in the total. The guy was nice, but be wary and get a receipt. read more

Will is great great prices low key atmosphere. Always responsive I'll miss the former owner Joel. RIP Joel. read more

Please be careful and do your research before purchasing anything from this shop. I stopped in to check out the Pokémon 151 booster packs that were available and was floored to see a price tag of $20 per loose pack. You can absolutely purchase loose packs online for $5.99 each. The justification was people are pulling "thousand dollar cards" from these packs so $20 was a fair price. To date- there are literally zero cards in this set that are worth even close to $1000 raw. The most valuable raw card in this set is, on average, worth about $300. I understand everyone needs to make a profit but wow, this was incredibly dishonest and deceptive. Shameful. read more

I am no comic book connoisseur, but my 10 year old son recently developed an interest in graphic novels and comics... Of course, anything that is not electronics related, I am very supportive of, so I took him to this store to do some shopping. He really enjoyed it. They had a solid selection from a lay person's view, and were helpful upon request. I asked about Archie comics of which they have plenty, so we added some of those to our purchases and he seems to be enjoying them. Fantastic Worlds Comics carries various collectibles as well. I've now been twice and my son is already asking when we can return. On both visits, it appeared that there were regular customers coming in for their weekly/monthly pick-up of their favorites or special orders. Grateful that a local business like this exists and is still of interest to kids (and adults) these days! read more

Okay, let me get my geek on for a moment. I've been reading comics since Nick Fury was a just a Sergeant in WWII. LOL Fantastic Worlds Comics is the most complete, well stocked comic book store I've ever seen! They have collectibles galore. Old comics, movie tie-ins, figures... from DC, Marvel, Dark Horse - if you are looking for something special, chances are it's here. They're located in the Hiro Sushi strip mall on 90th Street near Via Linda. Ohhhh btw, you get 10% Off when you Checkin on Yelp. Nice! read more

Love the place. I get nothing but the best service and always get help with the books here

I want to thank Bill over here at Fantastic Worlds comics. I have never been here and I sold my Captain America #111 for my trip to Las Vegas. He was very open and honest with me and gave me a great over so thank you so much Bill. It was a pleasure doing business on that. I needed the cash for my vacation. Bill was kind and listened to my story too along with another regular in the shop. Bill has guys that come in and help out with the shop too! They have everything from Pokémon cards to collectibles, to toys and more. They have bags and boards as well as a bunch of back issues. They got a new comic book section too. They have a ton of Funkos as well. I'm a funkos collector and they have a bunch of them! So shoutout! They have a bunch of graphic novels too. When you first come in on the right you will see them! On the left are the action figures too. There are more and more amazing prints in store such as original comic books such as the Spider-Man I'm posting! Bill gets everything and finds everything for people! I'm on the look out for a Superman girlfriend fat lol comic that I'm trying to buy locally and seeing the stuff in here I will be checking on a regular basis! Bill thank you so much for the hospitality. Thank you for the extra cash and keeping comics alive in AZ! Covid update: Everyone was wearing masks and social distancing. They had the store perfectly clean! So thanks Bill! I get stressed about everything closing early! I get stressed about money and situations and having to constantly wear a mask and they made it very nice for me! Thank you guys! read more

I'm visiting from NY state and was looking to support local comic stores. Bill was extremely nice and polite. He was able to work with me on pricing for some awesome books! I HIGHLY recommend him. I would buy from him online even once I'm back in NY. (The one store I would strongly recommend everyone stay away from is Brandon's Comics. That dude is flat out rude and makes your experience unpleasant.) read more

Great experience meeting owner and going over my pedigree collection...Honest conversation and even home visit... Really like the way business is conducted in A relaxed and professional way.. Been subscribing to a comic series here for quite awhile and they suddenly weren't able to get an issue in, and have no idea or plans to get it. This kinda defeats the whole purpose of subscribing as now I am forced to either drive around to other stores or pay a marked up price online- which is exactly why I subscribed and came here in the first place. read more

Nice selection of modern comics and a decent selection of back issues. Service was good.

Great selection of comics here. Would recommend for and collector. As with all of the collector stores the prices are really creeping up. Overall a great experience and knowledgeable staff. Will frequent this establishment again. read more

For a long time, Scottsdale did not have a comic shop. Then I heard from a friend about Fantastic Worlds and I have been going ever since. The owner, Bill, has been in the business for decades and is very knowledgeable about comics, characters, storylines, and grading comics. I love this shop so much, I now have a pull box and look forward to visiting the shop regularly and having a comic conversation with the staff and customers. Definitely need to go there! read more

Excellent selection and customer service. Istvan really knows his stuff. Wish this was a large chain. Easily my favorite comic spot in the valley. read more

I go to a lot of comic stores. If you count vendors I meet at conventions and through eBay, the number of "stores" I deal with is not inconsequential. I was very happy to find this little gem just a few minutes from my office. This is not a huge store but, by and large, it is all comics. There is a small amount of gaming materials, but the focus is certainly comics, nothing else. There is a good and constant supply of nice back issues, including early bronze and silver age books. Bill, the owner, is knowledgeable and transparent in his business. I, for one, am glad to have another good option in the Valley. read more

From the moment I walked in the door last August to this very day, the folks at Fantastic Worlds have gone above and beyond to help build my collection and gear me towards titles and collectibles I'll cherish for ages. BAM! Just like that. The boys and I have a favorite new comic book store! We walked in and were greeted mom and pop style (which is ++++++ in my comic book). They have a lil kid section, which my sons have outgrown but super cool nonetheless. The walls were painted to the T out of pages of a comic book. Let's get even more serious.... They had what we were looking for, mass knowledge of comics begin the counter, and boo-yah on the visual. "Can we go back there," said my boys every day since left. **drops mic** read more

THIS STORE IS AMAZING. I'm new to comic books and this was my first time entering a comic book store. I was greeted by the owner and was looking for some comics and all the questions I asked he answered very quickly. The hospitality is fantastic and the store has more room to grow. SUPPORT the store so it can grow and become even bigger! I will be returning much more after my first experience was such a delight. In fact, I made a Yelp account just to right this review. read more
