Set-up for free comic pick-up was easy and smooth. They allowed (3) per person, and the line moved relatively quickly. Did some Bin diving while visiting, found some books I was looking for, and picked up some new issues w/variants. The best way I can pay homage to a business that was a memorable part of my childhood is to say this is one of the BEST comic book stores EVER. The store has had multiple locations around town back to the first location circa early 1990's. Atomic Comics still serves as a haven where kids of all ages can immerse themselves in fantasy and adventure and stimulate their imagination. The shop has all things comic and pop culture from figures and toys, books and graphic novels, cards and games, clothes and accessories, even a section for manga and anime. The vibe of this place is a clean, fun, safe space where kids can escape and decompress. I would even say it is a therapeutic experience and positive for mental health zoning out to comics. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and personable and willing to strike up a conversation with patrons. If you need another reason to gather here, the store hosts a variety of events and tournaments which you can explore on their website for schedules and info. If there was a nuclear fallout, Atomic Comics would be one place where I wouldn't feel bad about hunkering down. Deciding to come here is not splitting atoms. Never give your business to this store. You'll be left disappointed. I called them in February…read morebefore putting in an order for the Magic the Gathering: Final Fantasy Collector Booster Box to verify that they had enough allocation and that their online listing for it was not a mistake. They told me that if it is up then they have allocation. Fast forward to June when the set releases. I had to find out via reddit that Strange Adventures said that they do not have enough allocation to fill orders and instead would do a *raffle* vs queue order. They said they would post who won the raffle the following day. This never happened. They also said if you want to get a refund on your preorder, you need to *e-mail* them (vs them initiating the refund). There's also other reports of customers getting charged post-announcement as well. I've sent an inquiry e-mail days ago with no response. Fortunately, I finally found out that I could cancel the order from the Shopify web page directly (I don't think I saw the option via app) and was able to do so there. You can find a wide range of artsy book-related or flower-related events on their website. For this class, it was learning how to make a spiral bouquet. It was so fun learning this technique and leaving with a a bouquet that I had designed! I was immediately greeted by a young friendly woman at the front who left me to peruse the store. There's a selection of books for everyone, with sections for various genres housed on the east wall and within their bookcases and tables. I love the idea of a blind date with a book, and they had no shortage of options! There's a small area containing tees and other merch and, even tho I'm not a big sci-fi fan, I loved the setup they had for the genre! What I hadn't anticipated was the section that had the Sweet Valley Twins books! The nostalgia was HEAVY let me tell you! :) Regardless of how small the store seemed, they do an amazing job of packing in the books and I was impressed that there's literally every type of genre you could want there. Adding to the great vibes are the comfy sitting areas with plush seating, an old typewriter you can crank out 'hellos' to future visitors on, and plants and decor that add charm to some mid century modern furniture. What makes this place so unique though is the assortment of fresh flowers in the back and the flower workshops they hold each week. I haven't gone to one yet, but I plan on it, they look really cool! I highly recommend Wijaya House to any book lover, but especially those that prefer the locally owned to the big box store. I'm planning my next visit soon. :)
