Much like others here, I've found Greg's to be my favorite store around for comics. It's loaded with back issues and the staff is always extremely helpful. When asking about a specific comic, you don't get a "point" in the proper direction -- they walk over to the section and hunt down your comic with you and if they don't have it, they offer alternative solutions for you. On top of the great service, they also have great prices. Most of the time they're offering lower-than-cover-price deals, which makes buying here a real treat. To me, Greg's has a real incentive to make me want to drive the extra distance past some other closer comic shops. read more

Friendly Staff in a convenient location with plenty of parking. Nice posters on the windows to get you excited as you walk up with some comic nostalgia. "I had this one, wish I kept this one, cannot afford this one" - LOL Greeted as we walked in and told if we had any questions let them know, after that I was left alone to look & bin dive in peace (wife left to go to next door Dollar Tree) . "She really liked the Dollar Tree" so I actually beat her up the car. Just FYI in case your significant other is not a comic nerd. Store had plenty of old stuff & wall items to browse, along with current/new releases. There was some decent bargains to be had. I picked up some not so common books for a $1 so made my experience very good. Friendly Staff who interacted with customers as much as the customer wanted/needed. Probably a great place to buy, but I'm not super into comics. I came across 100+ vintage/retro action figures when helping my parents move out of the house I grew up in. DC, Marvel, Ben 10, Star Wars - you name it, all from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. A friend recommended I try Greg's because they also buy and sell old figures. I brought three boxes in and met the owner in the back to look through everything. He spent 10-15 seconds browsing through each box and told me that there's nothing of significant value and that "he has a warehouse full of figures like mine" and offered me $40 for the lot. I wasn't expecting much but I was shocked at the small sum and respectfully decided that I would try and sell these on my own. A month later, I've sold maybe a third of what I brought into Greg's and I'm at $150 and counting. And I'm selling local via Offerup, not even via collection websites or whatever people are fond of using. I understand shops like these have to leave a margin so they can make a profit, but please don't take advantage of customers who don't know the market well enough. read more

I've been reading and collecting for about 40 years. Having moved to AZ a few years ago, I needed a spot. Not "a"spot, I needed "THE" spot. I went to every comic book store within 50 miles. The last place I tried was this hole in the wall shop- Greg's, "THE" spot. First, the $ is second to none, on everything in the store. 2nd, they have the largest selection I've seen around, and it not in the store, just ask and it'll be ordered. Lastly, and the nail in the coffin- Erik. I can't stress how fantastic Erik is. Hands down, there is no one in any other shop l've met ever, like Erik. He has far exceeded every need and expectation l've had since the first day I walked in. He's the reason I have had a 30-50 issue a week pull list there the last couple of years. If he doesn't have it. he will get it. If he doesn't know something (and he usually does) he will find out. He is there for you, simple as that. I'm not a review guy, but again after 40+ years of collecting comics, Greg's and Erik deserve the review and endorsement. read more

Not in the southern phoenix area but happened to be out that way with my wife. I made an unexpected pit stop to Greg's without her realizing just for a quick stop in. Now, I don't know if it was Greg himself or an employee there tonight (6/19) but in the little interaction I had with him and the show it had great vibes and great comics. I've hit up a lot of the comic book stores when I can, but haven't had a chance to make my way to Greg's comics. I was nicely greeted, coming in, but on my way out, as he finished with a customer, he politely asked if there was there anything that he could help me find? I was specifically looking for 50s horror, but they didn't have any at the time. Regardless, if I lived closer, I would definitely go back... very welcoming experience, great vibes and great books. I've had a lot of rude encounters and overpriced books at some of my previous stops so definitely check out Greg's comics, it's definitely somewhere you want to build a collection off of. The owners have an I don't care attitude. They don't use social media which is pathetic in this day and age. Go to Monster Comics and you can get the same comic books for $1. Go to All About Books and Comics and you can get a better deal. This place sucks and they're assholes that think they know everything about comics. About 6 years ago I found Greg's Comics while looking for a comic book shop. I had been to 2 other shops in Mesa where I did not feel welcomed. When I walked in Greg's, I was greeted with a hello and to let them know if they can help me find something. After perusing the wall and some boxes, I asked the guy behind the counter for 2 specific books. He knew immediately where to find the books. One was not there so he magically found one behind the counter. This began my weekly visits. A few years ago I moved out of state but do return to the valley to see my family and this shop. Dash and Howard are like family. They are very knowledgeable and honest. If they can get a book for you, they will; if they can't they'll help you figure it out if they can. The shop has SO much stuff! Back issues galore!!! They're inventory is the best there is and they really do care about their customers. So if your looking for a comic shop, this is the place. read more

I always wonder how this place has stayed in business so long. Greg must be loaded and just do this for the passion of it. Last time I came in here the man working gladly helped me find what I needed and ordered what I wanted. He even had them waiting for me when I went in again. He was also really knowledgeable on his stuff. He wasn't some breathy creepy neckbeard working in a comic shop. This place is great. It's one of the best comic book shops in the valley. They are really concentrated on current and back issues of comics. There are a few toys and collectibles in the shop, but the true love is comics, and it really shows. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. I have never been treated with disdain for asking questions (even if they are silly or ignorant). They always have a sale of some sort going on, and it's really appreciated. If they don't have something that you want, they order it. I've been in there a number of times when a regular has come in, and they've had a stack/box waiting. It's been six years since my last visit to Phoenix and since I was last here. Not much has changed in the store and that's not a bad thing. I'm an X-Men nerd, and I found a copy of Uncanny 130 (Introduction of Dazzler) for $10! To the non-nerd set that doesn't mean much. But for me to find a $30 book got $10 is an awesome thing. To make things even better this store gives an extra 20% off of all purchases, and it's not one of those "we'll give you 20% off of the 20% mark-up we do to give you the illusion of a deal" type places. Sure the place could be cleaner, and sure it could use an update, but it's a comic shop. Go there, look around and have a good time. read more

i started collecting comics about a year ago (specifically nightwing/dick grayson comics) for the last year i have been searching all over the valley for the next piece i need within my collection. a lot of the times i ended up going to ebay and buying sets/runs or even whole collections and the. having to wait a month to get the shipment in (BRUTAL) i then moved to Chandler AZ and was looking for a Comic Home! The closest Comic shop to me is Samuari Comics. with that being said i buy all my new stuff from Samuari comics just because it's closer to me and it's more convenient to drive 5 min rather than 15 minutes to greg's. BUT!!!! if i ever need/want to buy an old comics from the 80's, 90's, or early 2000's i have a (almost) 100% success rate on finding what I need by going to GREGS COMICS! for the last year i wished there was a comics store here in the valley that sold a lot of back issues and i thought i searched the entire valley. but then i find this absolute GEM of a place. if you are a comic lover as much as me and love to collect single issues (from years ago) go to greg's comics. even if it's a 45 min drive. it is totally worth the drive if you are in the valley! read more

Great little shop. Little dark and very cramped , but I found stuff I was told would be impossible to find short of ebay as well as small novelty items you usually only find at the conventions. The staff was great. As a lady in the comic world it's usually hard to find places that won't blow you off, but the staff asked what I was looking for, had some good recommendations, and had no problem carrying a solid conversation about other things in the nerd world. Can't wait to visit again and pick up the next issues of the series I read. read more

The best place to experience comic book culture. It's crammed with books, comics, and toys. You have to explore every nook and cranny to see everything they have. The owner "My name is Howard not Greg" is super friendly and funny. I'm not sure if this is true, but if he likes you and you're not a doosh, he'll sell you stuff less than cover price! I was buying comics when cover prices were 50 cents, so discounts on these $4 comics is awesome. Oh yeah, no one knows about this: Ask to see the HELLBOY mural in the bathroom! read more

Unbelievable. This shop is absolutely fantastic!!! The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is great, the back issues are VERY well stocked, and most of all, the prices are LOW. I absolutely love Greg's Comics. If you are in the East Valley, don't set up your subscription box service anywhere else. Greg's is the place to be. No other shop in the East Valley will give you a better deal! My favorite part about this shop (other than the incredible prices and the amazing staff) is the way they display the weekly new issues. Every week, the issues to be released on Wednesday are displayed on a very long buffet table. Many other stores I've visited have a 'new issues' section, but none are as easy to navigate as Greg's. I drove to the two closest comic book stores actually looking for a Deadpool shirt to wear to the movie premier. I didn't find any shirts in here unfortunately, but I still walked out with two comics because I couldn't believe they had these two. "The Dark Phoenix" saga and "Days of Futures Past". I didn't plan on buying any comics but I couldn't pass up these two epic stories staring me right in the face. Both of them together we're only $33. They had a LOT of comics to choose from and I was welcomed to look around. It was a pretty small store but it was PACKED with comics.
