This game store uses what is pretty much dynamic pricing, and my experience with their pricing for…read morea recent pre-release event was extremely disappointing. They charged $80 for a pre-release entry, despite the regular price apparently being significantly lower for their "loyal customers. The owner's explanation was essentially that regular customers received the normal price, while people who weren't regulars were charged a substantial markup. That is a pretty difficult policy to defend. If the goal was genuinely to prevent scalpers and make sure actual players had access to the event, there are much fairer ways to accomplish that. It's not like limiting the number of products/promos each person can receive. Is a new concept. Maybe it is for rekreations. Instead, the message being sent is that if you haven't spent enough money at this particular store, you deserve to pay considerably more to participate. And that's where I have a serious problem with this. There were still 20 open spots for the event. Considering how desirable the OP-17 promos and product currently are, it raises an obvious question: what happened to those remaining spots and the promos attached to them? Maybe this was simply poor decision-making or incompetence. Maybe the owner genuinely believed this was the best way to discourage scalpers ( some how). Or maybe the store wanted to protect its regular customers while still taking advantage of the demand surrounding OP-17 by keeping more of the promo cards that resell for 1000s online instead of going into the greedy hands of player of the game that just doesn't go to that store all that often. I don't know which one it is. What I do know is that $80 for a pre-release event, with different prices based on how much money you've previously spent at the store, does not feel fair or respectful to the players who make up this hobby. A card shop should be building a community, not creating a paywall between "regular" customers and everyone else. Regulars getting special deals is nothing new, but it's typically not at the cost of literally every other customer that walks through your door If your business model is essentially "spend enough money here and we'll treat you fairly," that's your choice. But customers also have the choice to spend their money somewhere that treats everyone fairly.

Not only was the place clean, but they had good pricing, and the most pleasant staff I've ever interacted with in a game store! My wife even informed me that this is the most comfortable she's felt interacting with folks in a Game Store. My most favorite thing they sold, that my wife and I bought 3 of, was custom pre-made decks, one for MTG Commander, and two for Star Wars Twin Suns. I've never seen a Game Store sell custom pre-made decks constructed by the staff. Really cool concept that more stores should do! I hope to come back to Arizona just so I can give them more of my business.

When asking about a specific comic, you don't get a "point" in the proper direction -- they walk over to the section and hunt down your comic with you and if they don't have it, they offer alternative solutions for you. On top of the great service, they also have great prices. Most of the time they're offering lower-than-cover-price deals, which makes buying here a real treat. To me, Greg's has a real incentive to make me want to drive the extra distance past some other closer comic shops.
