Never give your business to this store. You'll be left disappointed. I called them in February…read morebefore putting in an order for the Magic the Gathering: Final Fantasy Collector Booster Box to verify that they had enough allocation and that their online listing for it was not a mistake. They told me that if it is up then they have allocation. Fast forward to June when the set releases. I had to find out via reddit that Strange Adventures said that they do not have enough allocation to fill orders and instead would do a *raffle* vs queue order. They said they would post who won the raffle the following day. This never happened. They also said if you want to get a refund on your preorder, you need to *e-mail* them (vs them initiating the refund). There's also other reports of customers getting charged post-announcement as well. I've sent an inquiry e-mail days ago with no response. Fortunately, I finally found out that I could cancel the order from the Shopify web page directly (I don't think I saw the option via app) and was able to do so there. Search reddit for Strange Adventures mtg or pokemon to see the extent of the issues.

Now before we get our panties in a twist, hear me out. 1 star review for unfriendliness of the workers. We walked around the whole store and looked at what was around and nobody acknowledged us. There was a iron man bobble head that was marked with a bright orange sticker on it saying "$6.99". Go to the register and was told the total was $16 and some change. My boyfriend pointed out the sticker on the front and the male worker tried to take it off right in front of us. A lot of the funko pops in this place have brightly orange priced stickers on the front. A lot of them are marked down. Now most places of business would honor something how its advertised. Guess what? Not here. They don't really care about honoring their own wrong pricing or apologizing. They are more focused on conversating with each other (workers). Don't go here. Such a let down.

I like that the "New & Noteworthy" books greet you at the front and there's tables scattered around with books that are trending and different genres to explore. I frequently run into authors with tables set up every time I come here which is pretty sweet as I love supporting local authors/artists. There's plenty of staff around to help you find what you're looking for. Pleasantly surprised that they have an entire aisle dedicated to graphic novels. There's a Starbucks cafe inside as well where you can sit and work. And a few tables on the side of the store where you can chill. If there's a book you want that's trending, they're usually out of stock so this Barnes is definitely more busy than others around the Valley.

Every time I stop by Bookmans Entertainment Exchange in Mesa, I manage to find at least one hidden…read moregem in the comic book section. In fact, I can usually find something to check off my ever-growing wish list--which is why I keep coming back. The catch? You're going to have to put in some serious time digging through the racks. The bagged-and-boarded comics are loosely organized by DC, Marvel, and Indie, with the individual titles generally alphabetized. They also have a section of bundles, which is always worth a look if you're hunting for complete runs. Unfortunately, nothing in the bundles made it onto my wish list this time. After spending a considerable amount of time working my way through the DC and Marvel sections, I wandered over to the magazine racks and discovered even more comics--some bagged and boarded, along with plenty of raw comics that were definitely in the low-grade, $1-bin neighborhood. The downside? This section appeared to have absolutely no organizational system. Consider it the comic-book equivalent of an archaeological dig. Bring patience. And possibly snacks. I also checked out the video game section to see if there were any must-haves hiding behind the glass. I found a few games in the locked cabinet, but some were priced about the same as buying a brand-new copy. I'm not really sure how that makes sense for a resale store. If I'm buying used, I'm expecting at least a little bit of a "used game" discount. Overall, Bookmans is worth checking out if you're hunting for comics, especially if you enjoy the thrill of the hunt. Don't expect everything to be perfectly organized or easy to find. Be prepared to spend some quality time flipping through racks, digging through the less-organized sections, and hoping the comic-book gods smile upon you. I didn't walk out with a massive haul, but I did find something worth adding to the collection--which makes the hunt worthwhile. Four stars for the potential, the selection, and those occasional hidden gems. ‍

I just left the Bookman's Store on Country Club and Southern, and I was abused and disrespected by…read moreone of their staff members. I was shopping, and waiting for my trade offer for some items I brought in. I asked to look at a Collector Comic Book that was locked in a case. I asked the staff member if I could take the book out and look a it because I wanted to make sure nothing was cut out of the comic. He immediately became defensive, and his attitude became hostile. I said "if there is anything cut out it's not worth $25 and I want to check. If I damage it while looking at it, I'll pay for it." His response wasn't helpful or understanding, it was pushy and abusive. "You should just get these while you see them. No one has these, and I've never seen one in our store since I've been here". I said "I have been collecting comics all of my life, and if there is anything cut out, it's not worth $10 to me". Again, instead of being friendly and asking anything helpful or asking questions, he was pushy and forceful, and became even more irritated when I pointed out the water damage on the back of the comic and told him I didn't want it. He was very unfriendly from the start. A toxic person, to be as kind as I can be. I received notice that my trade offer was ready, but I cancelled my trade offer, and walked out of the store with the items I had brought to trade. I WILL NEVER RETURN AS LONG AS THAT PERSON WORKS THERE. When I advised the staff of what happened, they seemed disinterested in doing anything. I asked them "how can you allow a person who treats customer this was to work here, and why would you want to work here if the business allows this?" They all looked at me with blank stares on their faces. A manager did talk to me, but it was the same attitude as the rude employee. He didn't introduce himself my name. He didn't try to find out the name of the employee. His attitude, like the rude staff member, was an attitude of not wanting to be there, an attitude of feeling irritated that they have to actually talk to a customer and assist them, an attitude of superiority and entitlement, an attitude that their customers do not matter to them and that they don't respect people in general. I advised their manager on duty that I work as a customer service consultant, and the employees treatment was unacceptable. He did offer complimentary credit, but did not indicate how much. I declined and told them honestly "I don't care if you pay me a Billion dollars in cash, I don't want it if that person works here. What he did was unacceptable and he should be fired". I am sure they won't do anything, and I want everyone to know that Bookman's is a TOXIC company who does not appreciate their customers, and they will screw you over and abuse you if you go there.
