ONLY FANS... Listen, bub! ONLY real FAN boys and girls know about this O.G. comic book store that's been in the valley over the decades. The best way I can pay homage to a business that was a memorable part of my childhood is to say this is one of the BEST comic book stores EVER. The store has had multiple locations around town back to the first location circa early 1990's. Atomic Comics still serves as a haven where kids of all ages can immerse themselves in fantasy and adventure and stimulate their imagination. The shop has all things comic and pop culture from figures and toys, books and graphic novels, cards and games, clothes and accessories, even a section for manga and anime. The vibe of this place is a clean, fun, safe space where kids can escape and decompress. I would even say it is a therapeutic experience and positive for mental health zoning out to comics. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and personable and willing to strike up a conversation with patrons. If you need another reason to gather here, the store hosts a variety of events and tournaments which you can explore on their website for schedules and info. If there was a nuclear fallout, Atomic Comics would be one place where I wouldn't feel bad about hunkering down. Deciding to come here is not splitting atoms. Do yourself and kids a favor, create memories and make this a tradition with your children like my dad did, and stop in to get your kid to get a comic book (or 2) every week. You'll love it, 3000! Nuff Said! read more

Strange Adventures - Comic Books Near Me - Gilbert, Arizona

Not surprised this place closed. They were associated with the guy who owns Atomic Comics, who is also a scam artist and thief.

Never give your business to this store. You'll be left disappointed. I called them in February before putting in an order for the Magic the Gathering: Final Fantasy Collector Booster Box to verify that they had enough allocation and that their online listing for it was not a mistake. They told me that if it is up then they have allocation. Fast forward to June when the set releases. I had to find out via reddit that Strange Adventures said that they do not have enough allocation to fill orders and instead would do a *raffle* vs queue order. They said they would post who won the raffle the following day. This never happened. They also said if you want to get a refund on your preorder, you need to *e-mail* them (vs them initiating the refund). There's also other reports of customers getting charged post-announcement as well. I've sent an inquiry e-mail days ago with no response. Fortunately, I finally found out that I could cancel the order from the Shopify web page directly (I don't think I saw the option via app) and was able to do so there. Search reddit for Strange Adventures mtg or pokemon to see the extent of the issues. read more

Like many other people who were scammed by this company, I made an order in April for my fiance's birthday hoping his magic the gathering final fantasy gift collection would arrive in June. Apparently they overestimated how many they would receive and made an Instagram post about it but never sent a refund for those who would not receive one. This could have been prevented since they didn't even release the orders yet when they found out but I still don't have a refund weeks later. Not only did my fiance not receive something he was looking forward to but we also got scammed and the company still has my money even after I emailed them. Don't trust this shady business and go somewhere else. read more

Do not purchase any Pre-order products from here. They changed your credit card and never ship the order. I placed an order mid-May and they changed me on June 1 since then I never received the product. They don't respond your email and never pick up your call. This is a scam company!!! If you already get charged you need to contact your bank ASAP!! To reimburse your money.. Good Luck read more

Beware of these scammers! I had a really disappointing experience with Strange Adventures. I pre-ordered the Magic the Gathering: Final Fantasy set through their online store and was charged for it about a week before the release. Later, I saw their Instagram post saying they didn't have enough stock and asked customers to email them for a refund. I did exactly that, and sent a follow-up email, but never got a response. They never issued my refund either. At this point, they've basically taken my money and I'm stuck going through the hassle of disputing the charge with my credit card company. Extremely unprofessional and frustrating. I won't be ordering from them again. read more

Actively scamming folks who pre-order Pokémon cards. They either deleted their listing on Google Maps or it was taken down by Google. Either way, it should so you the type of business this is. This has been going on for three months and they continue to list new sets for pre-order. read more

Strange adventures was quick to take my $200 for 2 prismatic evolutions super premium collection boxes back on March 1st. It is now May 9th, 7 days before they release and my order was just now canceled. The email claims I requested my order to be canceled but that is the biggest lie in the world. I read online they are not even getting this product, how convenient! My order has not even been refunded yet either. I hope they really needed my interest free loan! NEVER preorder anything from them! Better yet do not even shop with these crooks! read more

Took pre-order payment on MTG product in Feb, did not respond to inquiry over e-mail or phone from April through July. Charged me for the pre-order randomly one day in June. Did not send any information or answer the phone when I called to try and figure out if I was getting the product. Had to eventually contest the charge through the credit card company. Strange Aventures never provided any information through any avenue despite charging me for the product. Basically tried to use pre-order money for operational expenses. read more

BUYER BEWARE! This business knowingly offered unlimited preorders on a VERY limited TCG product, charged me, and never shipped anything nor refunded my orders. I waited a month but numerous attempts to contact the company both through two different email addresses and their IG page yielded no response. I posted a comment on their IG page explaining my situation and was blocked. This is a very scummy business... DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THEM ONLINE. read more

Never received the items I ordered nor correspondence about the status of it. Avoid any preorders from this place at all costs.

I found out about Strange Adventures a month or 2 before the Destined Rivals announcement. When I saw they had pre-orders for boxes, I went ahead and placed a few orders for a couple of different products. Prior to release I received order confirmations and the funds were deducted from my card/bank. Fast forward to release, no shipping confirmation, no email on allocations, no communication at all. I figured since Pokémon has exploded over the last year and a half, it was due to supply/demand the typical stuff. I reached out via email because these guys don't answer the phone, included my order numbers and just requested an update... 3 times no response. I wound up having to call my bank and have them issue refunds for all of my orders even though they were "confirmed" and money was drawn. Mistakes happen and I understand the demand and allocation issues within the Pokémon Hobby right now so I brushed it off. Now, HERE COMES BLACK BOLT AND WHITE FLARE. Strange Adventures stated that for this release, they will be changing their entire pre-order methodology. This was intended to prevent another Destined Rivals disaster like before. Here's the catch, they required a $10 non-refundable deposit on each pre-order for Black Bolt & White Flare. This time, I played it safe and only ordered 1 ETB of each (and yes placed $10 deposits for both). FAST FORWARD TO 7/22/25 a few days after release. These guys send an email saying they've got zero allocation and will be canceling everyone's pre-orders! So now what, they just keep everyone's deposits?? It's actually so ridiculous that it's funny. I'm not sure who's running the show over there, but their reputation is getting worse. I would avoid pre-ordering anything TCG related from this business until they can get their act together. read more

I ordered Pokemon Pre Order, they got 20 items. They have "refunded" 5k orders. I canceled before the May 30th release and they still charged my card. SCAMMERS! I pre-ordered with them for the pokemon destined rivals drop. Not only did they take my money and not send anything, but they also never replied to any of my messages. I would stay clear away from this place. They practice bad business. Thank god for the protection of my credit card company! No value here with Strange Adventure. Extremely unprofessional. SMH. read more

cancelled my order in May and still got charged in June, no answer on when the refund will come and no response to numerous email. This shop is very obviously scamming their customers. If I didn't catch the credit card charge I would be screwed. (I already contacted them several times through their "support" email without a response, which I wouldn't have even found without looking into their social media. That's not my responsibility) Update: Still no response after another week emailing both their main and support emails. Meanwhile, they're sending out more emails about the Magic Final Fantasy collab also being charge in error with "refunds soon"!! read more

Terrible. Never replied to emails about a pre order deposit. Never got my merchandise and never got an answer. Avoid at all costs!

Placed a pre-order for pokemon tcg Destined Rivals. Order was never filled and I've been unable to get in contact with anyone from the store regarding allocation/cancellation. I don't agree with the practice but it is common for LCS to take more preorders than they can fill, using the money to operate their business, and then refunding customers on the release date once it's apparent that they can't fill the orders. Strange Adventures took this a couple steps further by falsely stating that they don't take payment until allocation is confirmed, although payment was processed the moment I placed the order. They also have it written into their T&C that they keep 10% of your deposit if they are unable to fulfill the order. These policies are directly conflicting as on the pre-order product page it specifically notes that $0.00 is due at the time of purchase so there shouldn't be a deposit to begin with. I've placed many TCG preorders through comic stores over the years and this is without a doubt the worst experience I've ever had. In hindsight I should've just come here to check their reviews before making the purchase because it sounds like they did the exact same thing for Prismatic Evolutions and all of their recent one star reviews are from people that placed pokemon pre-orders only to get scammed. The Pokemon pre-order page on their website is also conveniently down at the moment, so was unable to pull screen shots from their website to expose the full extent of the scam. read more

BUYER BEWARE -- DO NOT TRUST THIS STORE I usually don't leave reviews, but what happened here needs to be shared loud and clear. This comic store has not only let the community down--they actively betrayed it. They were caught selling fake comic books and counterfeit Pokémon cards--yes, fake, as in completely worthless and misleading products passed off as the real deal. It's one thing to make an honest mistake, but it's another to deliberately deceive loyal customers. And it doesn't stop there. The owner also ran what can only be described as a shady pre-order scam--collecting preorder money under the guise of "reserving product," only for it to be used as zero-interest personal loans. Months would go by with excuse after excuse, and most people never saw a single item they paid for. When confronted, the staff dodged questions, gave contradictory stories, and some customers were even blocked from their social media for asking about their orders. That is not just poor business--it's fraud. Please do your homework and steer clear of this place. There are so many honest, passionate comic stores out there that actually respect their customers. Support them. This one doesn't deserve your money--or your trust. read more

Preordered pokemon cards only for them to hold my money for months and cancel. In the email saying I'm the one who requested the cancellation when I did no such thing. Never gave updates never gave an explanation. Held almost $200 from me for months. Not to mention I could never get a hold of them through email. They straight up ignore you. Never do preorders with these scammers and liars. Terrible business. Hey strange adventures team, maybe don't do any preorders if you can't fulfill any of them. read more

Buyer be aware - AVOID Pre-orders for TCGs through this store! Am legit saving you a ton of headache and heartache! :/ My statement sounds odd right? This business is a legit brick and mortar (which is typically a solid indicator of a legit business)...oof well, they have justified collecting vast amounts of pre-orders from customers of which they do not have stock / inventory / allocations from distributors for - as a holy war fight against the system Tease you not - am shocked that this behavior is not illegal and they haven't been blacklisted by credit card companies or a government agency Here's their bad faith scam - On Pokemon Destined Rivals they collected over 5,000+ orders from customers - with unlimited purchase quantities and they received 0 products and finally after the release date came clean and canceled ALL the orders placed by customers They did the same thing with the MtG Final Fantasy release - they collected thousands upon thousands of pre-orders...and their total allocations amounted to around 20 products...so the same situation has happened with all customer's orders being canceled The thing that doesn't add up - is our several hundred dollar payment to them has not been refunded - and we're having to do a charge back through the credit card company Would seem these guys may know exactly what they're doing? Sounds like they may have done this scheme over and over again...one might speculate that maybe they are counting on a percentage (%) of customers forgetting about their credit card charges? If so, these guys can cash in on those orders that were canceled but still charged? Not sure if that is true or not - but it sure does seem suspicious that despite your order being canceled by them you still have to pay attention and contact their customer support to get a refund? No matter how you look at that situation...that does not make sense? Again - have never seen what appears to be a bad faith well orchestrated effort by a legit business to defraud customers. Cannot believe this is legal. Cannot believe they have done this multiple times on multiple product releases (even prior to Destined Rivals & Final Fantasy). The worst thing is - they're now doing the exact same thing on the MtG Edges of Eternities & Spider Man releases...if you are considering making a pre-order purchase would recommend being very cautious as the odds of you actually getting any product from this business is likely low - very low...so proceed with caution Will the same situation unfold again with the next big Pokemon & MtG release? Well...given this situation has happened multiple times now...LoL you may want to be cautious Am really hopeful someone that can do something about this reads this review (and so many others) and looks in to this for us. The evidence is substantial and everywhere (simply check the store's Instagram account - where they had to come clean on the Destined Rivals and Final Fantasy releases) Seriously this all sounds too dishonest and blatant to be true but it is not - haha we may be approaching some sort of documentary levels of deceit :D One of the saddest parts of this is - my heart and so many other customer's hearts were broken We made orders for products months and months out and ended up empty handed and essentially told we should be happy about it as Strange Adventure Comics is fighting against the system / distributor on our behalf and them taking our money, promising us products they'll never have, misleading customers by presenting themselves as a legit source for products, and leaving us empty handed is somehow justified in this holy war of theirs. Did some research and it sounds like nearly all distributors - especially when dealing with high-demand products - publish the allocations a retailer will be able to secure so the retailer can accurately open up pre-orders...that is why so many other retailers can process orders without much issue. Seems highly suspicious and irregular that Strange Adventure Comics didn't know what their allocations were when accepting the orders read more

Bunch of scammers. When Destined Rivals came out, they had the ETB and Booster Box showing available on their website for several hours.
