I'm mainly rating this experience and order - I've been here before and it's usually a 4 or 5 star for me. The place inside is a little messy and run down - so I would grab and go. The service is usually really friendly- but today the young man look pissed off. Everyone has their days. I ordered a panini w Genoa salami, provolone, ham, roasted peppers onions and balsamic drizzle. The onion was so overpowering I had to take it off. The rest was okay. I wouldn't order again- but I think I prefer my sandwiches cold. The salami had a crisp to it which I don't prefer. We tasted the lemon poundcake and it was exactly what you want - fresh - MOIST - and lemony. The chicken noodle soup I ordered tasted like greasy canned soup- with mushy noodles . I will definitely come back... I've enjoyed my sandwiches before PS - they do have tables and chairs outside (Garden patio). read more

I would give this ZiPani a 4 or 5 but twice I was there within the same week. The waitress/cashier was a young thin female who seemed angry; was it because I arrived 45 minutes before closing? Mixed opinions but overall good and willing to give it another try. We went around breakfast on a weekday and there was a steady flow of customers. Our breakfast sandwiches and drinks came out in a reasonable time. My cappuccino was undrinkable and I tossed it, but the latte was perfect. Our breakfast sandwiches were excellent and smoking hot. We also had a cinnamon roll that was a 9/10. I think a lot of the staff were new so I'm chalking my bad drink up to that. Dont know how I missed this gem all the time we lived in Frederick. Went there the other day for the first time and it did not disappoint I had the smoked salmon sandwich changed the cream cheese to vegetable cream cheese and a seasame bagel. It was delicious and no skimping on the smoked salmon. My husband had the Reuben and said it was very good. Took home bagels and flavored cream cheese.Needless to say we will be back. read more

I haven't been to Zi Pani in sometime and am kicking myself! There is nothing not to like - I had the ham, apple and Brie panini (yum!) and an amazing chai. What a great setting to relax alone or with friends and enjoy good food. Oh, and the people working behind the counter were so nice - definitely worth a trip! read more

The highlight are the kind staff who hustle to take care of all their patrons. The atmosphere is high energy, clean and comfortable. This Bistro is absolutely incredible. The menu, the atmosphere and the staff are just the best. Today I was in and Abby F waited on me. What a sheer pleasure. A smile on her face, a sincere welcome and just a pleasure to do business with. Anybody who has an issue with this place needs to take a good long inventory of themselves. The food is remarkable, I have never not enjoyed anything I have ordered there. The only issue I have is that you have to ask for the Senior Discount every time you go in, I know this is out of their control but it does become a real nuisance. I had the 8 grain bagel toasted with veggie cream cheese. I am shouting from the mountain top, I FOUND A GREAT BAGEL!! Friend had and egg and cheese on pumpernickel bagel, and she was loving it. Coffee was great! Service? Such sweet folks working the registers. I ordered a frozen coffee, told the girl to surprise me, I go a peanut butter mocha. I have no negative things to say about this cafe. Looking at this place from the street, I wouldn't have expected the atmosphere to be as cozy and welcoming as it is. It was great, definitely exceeded my expectations based off curb appeal alone. Bagels are hands down their specialty, with a large variety of bagels and spreads. I have tried all bagels and they are all exquisite. My personal favorites being the cheddar and French toast respectively. I also like their bacon, egg, and cheese croissant which isn't on the menu but the staff had no problem making it for me. The coffee is delicious too, for a good price. I prefer getting my coffee here as opposed to a Starbucks or Dunkin for example. As someone who has been a regular for years, I recommend to anyone in the area who is local or visiting to give Zi Pani a try. Long story short, this slaps. read more

My biggest complaint is that the bagels and cream cheese isn't less than 25 calories other than that, if I could eat here for every meal I would! Bagels are so fresh, love the specialty cream cheese selection. Staff is so friendly and helpful. My go to is the salmon sandwich on an everything bagel and vanilla latte. 10/10 every time! Every town needs a bagel/latte/lunch spot like this. The bagels here really are the best (the everything bagels). And of course there's nothing like getting a hot toasted bagel with your choice of toppings. I like the store-made garden veggie cream cheese with added tomato and onion slices. For your latte there are choices for your milk, like breve, oat milk, milk, etc, plus of course flavors. They make sandwiches, there are sweets, and more. And I can't forget to mention they have whitefish salad which any good deli would. Usually at the counter there's a good deal on bags of day-old bagels. This place is a good discovery! read more

We used to come here regularly after church, but customer service went downhill, costs were increasing, and the quality of food was just okay. After several months, I decided to give it a try again today, and ordered a turkey garlic and herb bagel. I didn't look at it, grabbed the bag and left. When I opened it, the turkey was slimy, and not just a little slimy, but dripping slimy. I thought it may have been wet from the lettuce, but it was not. Just awful! One of my favorite establishments in Frederick. I have always been extremely pleased every time I have gone, and the few times there has been any issue the staff has been great at fixing. They actually know how to toast a bagel, unlike other chain businesses. Fantastic cream cheese as well that they'll load up onto the bagel, I have often been picking up tubs of this for at home since you cannot find anything close to this in the store. After having breakfast here with my daughter, we unknowingly sat in the bar area and a staff member came over and said that we would need to move or they would be fined and they would pass the fine on to me as the customer. All they had to do was ask for us to move. It was a strange interaction. Left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't know why there was a need to threaten us with a fine. Never coming back. read more

Updating my review- The owner reached out and had my bagel delivered to me at work. They even included a coupon for a half-dozen bagels. Zi Pani demonstrated wonderful customer service and displayed that they genuinely care about their customers. I am happy to support any business that shows this level of consideration for their customers. Highly recommend! I love this place usually. This morning I had a severe pregnancy craving for their everything bagel with veggie cream cheese which I grabbed to go. I told myself a couple months ago I wasn't going to frequent this establishment anymore but I couldn't remember exactly why until I began to order. I walk in moments ago to order a bagel with lox cream cheese. A bagel with cream cheese is $4.50, with an additional $1.25 because it is lox, sure okay. That's when I remember the cream cheese was translucent on my bagel the last time I came in and they gave me a hard time about getting a little extra so I could finish my dry bagel. So I ask for a little heavy on the cream cheese. She proceeds to charge me an additional $2.24 for 2oz side of cream cheese. I had to laugh and walk out. The levels of cheap are astounding. For $3.75 I can go to the place downtown and get a bagel with a decent amount of lox spread. THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME $8.99 for a bagel with lox spread enough to I can actually taste it. I know times are hard but that is a complete rip off. If you want a decent bagel with being gouged head to BEANS AND BAGELS in downtown! read more

Just got a dozen bagels for take-out, I can only comment on that. The bagels are fine, but just ok. For Frederick, they're certainly the best option, a lot better than grocery store bagels. But no comparison to the better bagels in, say, Baltimore. read more

Delicious bagels with a good selection of flavors and options. We enjoyed the outdoor patio area. The service was friendly and prompt at the counter. I didn't love my oat milk latte, but oat milk varies in flavor so much from brand to brand, so it wasn't as though the coffee itself was bad. We'll be back, for sure! read more

Wow. Can't believe no one has mentioned the evening Bistro at Zipani! Coffee/Sandwich shop during the day , Bistro in the evening from 4:30-9:00.... The Bistro menu includes some great wood-fired items. GREAT tasting pizza w/FRESH dough and ingredients, Buffalo chicken, crab or Spinach artichoke dips (these are also pizza choices!). MUSSELS are on the menu too! A few choices for wings, burgers too. They have a small bar, not too fancy but they have been making some sangrias that are very tasty. Keep in mind this is NOT fast food, so plan to take your time. Bring some friends and chill a while with some good food. (They also rent a small room for meetings/classes so think about them for a lunch or dinner meeting). We go here often and they have always been very friendly. Make us feel like family. read more

Its not easy to find a quick lunch option in this area of Frederick. You have Subway and Roy Rogers in the shopping with Zi Pani as options really. I wish I could say it was a quality step up from those two, but it just wasn't that good. I had a simple order- a BLT sandwich with mustard, no mayo. The staff was not that friendly and seemed disinterested in actually helping out customers. The service ended up being very slow for a simple order. As for the sandwich, one of the slices of bacon was raw and inedible. It had the consistency of shoe leather- very unappetizing to say the least. If we had eaten there I would have returned it, something I would rarely do, but we were already long on the road when I got to it. Just not a pleasant experience overall. read more
