Food is actually really good! Everything from shumai, calamari, and sesame balls and in between was enjoyable. We drove out this way specifically for the crab meatballs, but they were out. They were also out of the taro dim sum. The place was also totally dead on a Friday afternoon (4pm-ish). Staff was lounging about when we entered but they all quickly went to the back and got busy. I appreciated that they brought our food out in waves versus all at once. Calamari and eggplant first. Then all of the dim sum, and finally the sesame balls. The sesame balls were especially memorable for being so delicious and gooey. I would give the food 5 stars. To reiterate what others have said, service sucks. The waiter had one table and only came by to drop off food. No refills, napkin for the baby, etc. He just sat at the register and trolled away on his phone. An employee had a baby in the back and kept taking it around the restaurant. I was hoping the bathroom had a changing table, but alas, it did not. Tried here for the first time with my family for brunch and I'm just going to say this now...we were unfortunately very disappointed. We were here for the dim sum- for one of the things it clearly makes itself known - even displayed on the building itself. We had the shrimp dumplings, steamed BBQ pork buns, bean curd skin rolls, and steamed chicken feet. We got all of these at once and each one was so obviously off that we couldn't keep ordering. The skin of the shrimp dumplings were way too thick and the dough of the bun was not fluffy enough. We ended up trying a couple of things from the menu- braised grouper clay pot and seafood pan fried noodles. We were slightly happier with these dishes but still not satisfied- nothing wow about them EXCEPT we will say that the tofu in the clay pot was extremely delicious!! We went here to eat some dimsum as a way to celebrate Chinese new year. There were only one other couple who were already eating. It took them more than 10 minutes just to take our order and more than 20 minutes after that to bring our food. We understand we ordered a lot but we were the only customer they have at that point. The server never checked on us and one of the dimsum we ordered was not served but it was on our bill. The food was delicious and the servings were big but the service is what really turned us off. It was so bad that we had to grab our own to go boxes on a corner cabinet beside the kitchen door because we asked for them, waited another 10 minutes and nobody came to bring us some. read more

I have been in Zhang's Kitchen on and off for almost 4 years. The foos used to be excellent, for example very good hot and sour soup. However in more recent months the quality and testate of the food becoming not as good as it used to be. Last time, the chicken with garlic Sause was too salty that I did not rather to finish it. Place used to be JS Chen. This became Zhang's Kitchen a couple months ago. Since they changed name, DH went to this place 2x for lunch special. Each time, he came back and complained about how bad the food was. He ordered chicken on both occasions (don't know which chicken). My friend on the other hand, 2 weeks ago raved about this place and how their $23.95 offer was a good deal. Food was tasty with good portion, and the beef was very tender. Tonight, DH went on a business trip and my kids went to Chinese school, which was only 2 minutes away from this place. So this was my chance to dine at this restaurant without having to bicker with DH. Ordered Mongolian beef (just to prove my friend's claim that beef here is tender), Yangchow fried rice (because Kid1 likes fried rice), and Honey BBQ pork (because Kid2 likes BBQ Pork). All are listed under the $23.95 offer. First up, Yangchow fried rice. I was hesitant in ordering fried rice because it's always a hit or miss in an unknown restaurant. When it came, the physical appearance wasn't disappointing. Enough color, lots of shrimp and BBQ pork mixed it in, and no frozen peas or carrots tossed in. Ok, it passed visual test. Second test: smell test. Took a spoonful and brought it to my nose. Ah, it had the smokey smell. Ok, it passed the smell test. Then I brought it to my mouth. Pretty tasty, not bland. OK, it passed all 3 tests. Portion was ok, I give this dish a 4/5 rating. Mongolian beef. The beef was tender, yes, and pretty tasty. The taste was not overpowering, it was yummy. Good portion. 4/5 Surprisingly (why?) the last dish to arrive was Honey BBQ pork...hey they are just supposed to slice the meat and put them on a plate. The meat had been cooked a long time before we arrived. What took them so long? This dish wasn't memorable, just edible. 3/5 They gave us just 2 small bowls of steam rice because we ordered the special $23.95, so a dish comes with only 1 small bowl of rice (not applicable to fried rice). When you order fried rice, there's no steam rice to go along with it. Why then, did I give them 3 overall rating instead of 4? Because when I received the bill, IT WASN'T $23.95 as promised, but $26.95. I didn't want to be petty and let it slid. I paid the $26.95 plus tax and tip. This is why I took off 1 star. Would've been a 4 start, but I gave it a 3-star instead. I asked the kids if they liked this place. Kid 1: "Yes" Kid 2: "I like this place"! Ok, then next time, it'll be 3 against 1 (the daddy) when we want to eat here. Next time when placing the order, I'll emphasize to the waiter, that we order 3 dishes under the $23.95 deal. The food is 4.5/5 star but I have to give this 3 star rating for service, as it was extremely poor. None of my family likes lemon. When you order water, you should get water- not water with lemon. It was in the glass instead of the side which makes things worse. I know this happens at most restaurants so I won't hold it against Zhang's but this was just the beginning. Because my son didn't want water with lemon we ordered sprite multiple times and were told it would be out soon. Turns out they were out of sprite the whole time and never offered us another drink. We ordered orange chicken... but it was not orange chicken. The dish would have been lemon chicken at any other restaurant. The lemon chicken and is served with lemon as garnish and a yellow sauce- not a typical "orange chicken" sauce. When we asked, the waiter argued that the fruit on the plate was an orange. We also asked for fried rice as our side and got steamed. The dim sum was great when we could finally get some.
