Food was delicious. I got the Spinach Chicken. Spinach was SO GOOD!!! And chicken was tender and well seasoned. My favorite part was that after dinner, I was full and had zero guilt. It was as healthy as anything I would have made at home. All of my four sons cleaned their plates too! Everyone enjoyed the food. Great atmosphere. Dined at Zeytin tonight. Nice place. Last time i was here was when they were still at their previous building. We only came bc one of the people in our party wanted to come here. Had the Zeytin Special which is a combo of grilled meats, some rice and some kind of Turkish slaw. It was served with tsaziki sauce. The grilled.meats were just ok. The shaved gyro meat was quite salty. Would have been better if served with grilled veges and tahini sauce instead of the tsaziki. The tsaziki did not really go with it. The server could have checked on us a bit more. I really needed a water refill but she didn't even check that. I am used to similar dishes from Le kebab and from Shesko which are served with grilled veges, more rice, tahini and garlic sauce and soup. And also much better tasting and more reasonable in price. I don't think I'll be coming here again. read more

This place was recommended to us by a regular and it was great. They have Happy Hour every day from 3-6 and their appetizer sampler for two is a must try as the flavors are great. Our food came quickly and was very good. Other reviews said food was bland but not sure how that's possible. Everyone at our table had great food and the flavors were excellent. We went for Galentine's Day and split the appetizer sampler, with hummus, baba ganoush, spicy eggplant, stuffed grape leaves, and pita plus we got the spinach pie and saganaki. Everything was amazing. I ordered a Michigan mule and we shared all three dessert options - the baklava was definitely my favorite. I want to come back with my husband and try some entrees! I've been coming here for many years, especially in my high school days, whenever my best friend (who was born and raised in Israel) and I were craving some legit Middle Eastern food. Zeytin became our most consistent dinner date spot, and ever since those days, it has remained a special-occasions-only restaurant for me, as i've had a handful of bday and celebration dinners there through the years. I came here again for my birthday last week, after some years of having not lived in GR, and oh boy, it brought me back in all the best ways, and i had a lovely, relaxing meal with my dad and i was even given a complementary plate of baklava (my favorite dessert EVER) w/ a birthday candle! So generous! Such crisp, classy ambience, excellent service, and of course, their food is to die for. Not to mention I would pay good money for their babaganoosh recipe. A hidden gem!! Very nice, new, authentic ambience with fantastic service. The appetizer sampler was perfect to split and try different flavors. My Mediterranean chicken entree was totally delicious! My fiancée and I split a bottle of Yakut (Turkish red wine) and loved it. We also ended our meal with the baklava, which was perfectly flaky and mouth watering. We will be returning! read more

This is one of two quality middle eastern restaurants I know of in the Grand Rapids area. It's a little out of the way on the eastern end of the county but if you like this sort of food it is well worth it. We've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. The appetizer sampler is an awesome choice to get some of their best offerings for 2 to 4 people. Their various chicken, lamb and vegetable dishes are all excellent as main courses. In my opinion, the full dining experience is equal parts food quality and customer service. If an establishment is lacking in either, it detracts from its strengths. In no recent dining experience was this more evident that my most recent visit to Zeytin's. To their credit, the quality of food (I ordered the chicken kabobs) was above-average - the chicken tasted fresh and flavorful while the hummus and pita bread was also tasty. However, this was without a doubt one of the worst dining experiences I've ever encountered. To begin, the wait staff was unfriendly with absolutely no sense of urgency or respect for our time. We waited almost TWO HOURS for our food to arrive with absolutely no explanation or remorse from anyone associated with the restaurant. Literally, we were about to cut our losses, pay for our appetizers/drinks and walk out once the food finally did arrive. Again, no apology from anyone, just a lazy excuse that they were understaffed. As we paid our bill, the owner (or manager, I suspect) came over to the table to speak to our party. Normally, I would expect them to be apologetic or at least sympathetic to our sub-par dining experience, but given the way we were treated up to that point I should have known better. He was absolutely combative and refused to take responsibility for the complete lack of customer service that occurred that evening. It was clear to me that while he may have some culinary expertise, he lacked any basic knowledge of how to run a business. In short, this experience tainted what was otherwise a wonderful visit to Grand Rapids. I would highly recommend against dining here, unless you plan on ordering take-out. That way, you can minimize your interactions with the waitstaff and management as much as possible. read more

My sister and I were struggling to find somewhere to get our mom dinner for Mother's Day, and we finally settled on Zeytin's. We'd never been before, but we'd heard it was good and were willing to try something new. I ordered take-out, so I was only inside for a second to grab the food, but what I briefly saw was beautiful! They had a great atmosphere, and from the little interaction I had with the servers, everybody seemed very friendly. Most of the food was very delicious, like the Spinach Chicken, Chicken Mediterranean, and the Feta Borek. However, the salad we ordered was kind of tasteless, (the dressing, I mean) and the Iskender was underwhelming. Overall, however, the food lived up to the hype. read more

Although our waiter was pleasant and prompt, he and the bus boy seemed to do a lot of bustling without real action - Our plates were never cleared away, our waiter did not ask us if we wanted refills on our soda pop or wine, however he did refill my water. He didn't ask if we wanted desert. Calimari is fabulous, the lamb salad lovely and flavorful, and I enjoyed the dolmades. Giving a 3 star rating because service needs to be 1) smoother 2) more timely and 3) effective. Bathrooms are beautiful. read more

Although I've been to Zeytin several times, this was my first visit at the new location. The overall feel of the place has changed from a somewhat intimate and ethnic setting to a larger, more open and modern-themed venue. Parking is less convenient than it was at the old location, but it isn't terrible. I came on a Friday night at 6:00 pm and expected fairly slow service based on the recent reviews, but it wasn't bad. I will say our waitress was very friendly and moved around quickly, but it was clear she had quite a few other patrons to take care of. I only had to request a water refill once and my entree came out in a reasonably short time. The food is pretty much what I remembered. The complementary bread, oil and butter was not impressive as the bread was basically a thin, dry, store-bought pita that had been cut up. My entree was just as good as I remember, however. I got the Zeytin Special, which is a sampling of several meats with a side of rice and coleslaw. The portions were good, but the sides were admittedly lackluster. I think roasted or steamed vegetables would be a much better choice than coleslaw, but it was still a very good dinner. For dessert, I chose the baklava, since it was apparently the only lactose-free option. It came out in 4 li'l squares and had a pretty awful drizzle of what tasted like Hershey's chocolate syrup on top...ugh. Honey would have been a much better choice. I would definitely not opt for that again. The Creme Caramel looked great, though. All in all, I can say I still like this place and would definitely come back. read more

The smell when you walk in is intoxicating. The ambience is upscale and the cuisine is presented very well. We started with the appetizer platter which was a variety of dips that went well with pita. The baba Ghanoush and hommos were very fresh and tasty and almost had a hint of refreshing citrus. For dinner I had one of the tastiest lamb dishes I have ever had. It was lamb with red sauce and yogurt sauce on top of pieces of crispy pita that had been soaked in both sauces just long enough to be crispy and moist at the same time. Harika bir sey! It's hard to find good authentic Turkish food, much less in the midwest, and although this is a bit "americanized" here, the food is absolutely çok güzel! Set in a strip mall in Ada (aren't most restaurants here?), it's a warm and inviting little spot with cozy Turkish carpet-covered cushions in the booths, and the ubiquitious TVs at the bar that you often find in real Turkish "lokantas". Traditional tasty appetizers of flaky phyllo pastries stuffed with feta and parsley, cacik (cucumber dip), and many other favs. The Adana kabab is tender and spicy, and the rice pilaf is just like you'd get in Istanbul. The baklava was flaky and lightly dusted with pistachios. The owners, waiters, and bartenders are all Turkish - this is a must-eat place in the GR. Go on in, say "Merhaba!" and enjoy! read more

Oh man. This place was a-mazing. I've been to Turkey and I love Turkish food, and I went here with Turkish friends. We all agree this place was absolutely top notch. Right now we're in the car nursing our full and happy bellies. The food was of the highest quality, like the fancy restaurants in Istanbul. I never liked liver, but the liver with the spices onions and peppers made me a believer. We had the Zeytin special platter to try the meats and it was all good, particularly the kofte. The Iskender Kebap (separate from the Special) was heavenly. Hakan was our waiter and he was super nice, funny and attentive. Try whatever you eat with the traditional Turkish drink, raki. And then finish it off with some Turkish çay (tea). Ada, you're lucky. read more

This is going to sound snobby, I don't mean it to: I've been to Turkey twice - the food I had at Zeytin's did not carry my tastebuds back to Turkey. The falafel was dry and the portion was skimpy for $8. The hummus was fresh, flavorful, and the texture was nice. We had the gyro plate and the stuffed eggplant - flavors and presentation were average at best. In my opinion, a Turkish restaurant should always serve oven fresh bread - it's a staple in the culture - Zeytin's bread was cold and stiff.
