Bree was our excellent server. She was very helpful in choosing our dishes. We started with the pita and delicious garlic spread. My meal came with salad which was fresh and delicious. I ordered the lunch special chicken kabob with rice vegetables. The vegetables were amazing! Everything was nicely spiced. The lunch portion was $16 which we thought was affordable. My husband had the chicken liver meal which he loved! He chose the lamb chili over a salad and it was delicious! We took a lot of leftovers home! Ordered a takeout order tonight and loved it. This has been on our list for a while and we were happy we finally tried it. The estimated time was 15 minutes after we ordered it online and we received a text 10 minutes later that it was ready. The amount of food we were given will feed us each for 3 meals. The bread/garlic sauce didn't even make it home because we ate it all on the way! The chicken and the veggies were by far my favorite on my combo, specifically the zucchini. I ordered takeout from here on my way home from the airport last week. The food was warm and fresh, and the pick-up time was accurate. Inside the restaurant, the tables were about 1/3 to 1/2 full, so fairly busy. I did not take pictures unfortunately, but I ordered hummus, pita bread, the shawarma platter (beef and chicken), and the beef shish kabob entree. It was plenty of food for 2 people with leftovers. The platter and entree came with the choice of 2 sides each - and the portions are big! I got the grilled veggies and upgrade to a fattoush salad for the shish kabob entree, and I got rice and lamb chili for the shawarma platter. The fattoush salad was a full-sized salad and very worth the $1 upgrade. I also added a small 2 oz side cup of garlic sauce. I did think the shawarma proteins, particularly the chicken, were a little bland/dry, but not bad. Everything else was very good and seasoned/cooked well! When living in metro Detroit we were spoiled with an abundance of Mediterranean/middle eastern food. Here in GR, this is our go to when we want shawarma! We have been here numerous times for dining in as well as take out. Our favorites include: - whipped garlic and pita (complimentary when you dine in!) - beef shawarma entree which we love with rice and the house salad. The house salad vinaigrette is amazing and I don't even feel like I'm missing out on a fattoush salad. Beef is flavorful and tender. Craving Greek food outside of a gyro and stumbled onto this Mediterranean place and gave it a try. It turned out to be more Middle Eastern once I sat and reviewed the menu. Starving I went for it. I am so glad that I did. I had a chicken and steak combination plate with rice and salad. Everything was very well seasoned and executed well. The star of the meal was definitely the complementary fresh pita bread and garlic spread!!! The portions were large and the value was definitely there. Service was excellent and the atmosphere of the restaurant was peaceful and comfortable. If I were to return I would definitely try another dish offering to include the hummus. read more

one of my favorite genres of food... middle eastern. I would bathe in garlic sauce if i could. overall everything was fairly good but I did take away one star because it wasn't the best i've ever had. there were definitely some things that could of been improved upon flavor and seasoning wise. the lentil soup needed lots of salt and so did the tabouli and the filling in the spinach and meat pies. the grape leaves were also very strange with an extremely mushy texture. after adding a few twists of salt to everything though the meal was pretty good. we got the sampler platter to try a little but of everything. the spinach pie had good flavor, the shawarma was moist and the fried kibbeh was good. the garlic sauce was okay but it did have some other flavor to it that i couldn't put my finger on... like i said before i would bathe in garlic sauce if i could but i've definitely had better than this one. the fries were also very good in my opinion. I say that because I am sort of odd in the way that I LOVE soft squishy fries. so if you like crispy fries these are not for you. honorable mention for the best baklava i've had in a long time. the pieces we received were so moist and drenched in honey. my mouth is salivating now thinking about it. oh and the salad dressing for the fattoush salad was also to die for. overall the food was pretty good but i'd still like to try other middle eastern places here instead. read more

A favorite place to visit- consistently excellent food and service even when busy. Tonight I tried the lamb vegetable soup which was delicious even though it needed a little salt, which is better than being too salty. Pita and garlic is always one of the things I look forward to the most. Ordered the shish kabob combo which comes with beef tenderloin, chicken, and kufta kabob. Each meat was perfectly grilled and tender. Comes with rice pilaf and fantastic grilled veggies. I'll have dinner for another night or two! read more

We came in for a quick vegetarian bite to eat, this being a favorite spot for my dinner guest. We were sat straight away and warm bread came just after our orders were taken by our efficient hostess. The Veggie Sampler for 1 and a bowl of their lentil seemed like it'd suffice. What came out was what seemed like an unending cascade of delights. First the garlic sauce, tabbouleh, and hummus (and more bread). Then the soup for each of us and a beautifully executed plate of grilled veggies, spinach pie and grape leaves. A local mentor of mine at Calvin University took me here and wow, it was good. The next time, I went with a take out and yes it was still amazing. I still recommend dining in, because the bread and the cinnamon butter cream they give out as a starter is just delicious And the most recent trip was before Covid, but the food was as always, really good. Went in with a half-full stomach, came out with an exploding belly, and an almost full to-go box. Portions are very large and filling. This was my first visit and I am so glad to have found it. The server was very polite and attentive. She quickly brought out a basket of warm pita and delicious garlic sauce. The salad dressing was very tasty and a good portion. The hummus was really good as was the rice and vegetables. The beef had good flavor but a little more tough than I prefer but still good. TL;DR - Waited 30 minutes after being seated to NEVER have a server come by, so we left without ordering. What a garbage experience - came by today (Saturday) at just before 6PM. They were busy and had no tables available - not because people were sitting at all of them, but multiple had never been cleaned up after the people left. We got a table (there were 2 of us) after one of the guys cleaned off a table. Once it was cleaned off, he handed us two menus and said "you can sit over there." That should have been the first indication that things weren't going to go well. We got seated about 6:00-6:05PM. We looked at the menu and decided on what we were going to order. We waited...and waited...and waited. No one ever came by and took our drink order, never checked on the table, never came and gave us an estimate on how long it might be until we could order. We ultimately received zero service while the other tables who were seated AFTER us got their drinks, bread, etc. At 6:30PM, we got up and left. On our way out, one of the servers yelled something to the effect of "Table XX is leaving!" Seems like you could've paid that much attention to your guests prior to them walking out. To the people running this place, I get it. You're short staffed. 2 or 3 servers to manage 25 tables, it's hard to be able to get to everyone within the normal 5 minutes of being seated. BUT, this was abysmal. If you're unable to accommodate the people coming in, just don't seat them. Tell them sorry, that you're short staffed, and only able to seat at 2/3 capacity. Needless to say, we wouldn't go back, and we'll definitely make sure to share our subpar experience with others. The service is too poor for a $20 plate, or even a $7 sandwich. We ended up across the street at a Korean Fried Chicken spot that had us ordered and fed in 15 minutes. EDIT: I've spoke with Ameer - great guy and wish him the best in the future, but as I shared with him, I'd rather have this review serve as a conversation with staff on how important the consumer experience is vs. a paid for meal for two. read more

This sandwich had a garlic aioli-type dressing. We were a but disappointed in the meat pies. For $5, you get 3 appetizers. The baklava was good. I had high hopes when my husband brought home a couple of chicken shawarma plates with house salads. Unfortunately, my salad was mostly weathered and brownish lettuce with some slimey cucumbers and tomato's. I didn't eat it. My chicken was good and the garlic sauce and hummus were decent, but the roasted vegetables were huge chards of uneven mush or uncooked inside/charred on the outside. This combo is more like for 4 people. The portion size is very generous and we always have leftovers. The shish combo includes -lamb, chicken, and steak and one side We opt for the grilled veggies and always order the almond rice with salad ! The almond rice is rich and kind of sweet, possibly due to the thin almond slices. I hardly feel guilty when we order from Shish. Everything is so fresh, and really just a well balanced meal. The rice can be a tad bit heavy on the olive oil, but still it's delicious I really enjoy the pita bread and the garlic sauce that accompanies it. I often save the sauce and use it for recipes ! We had a wonderful experience with my family, 20 of us. La Kabob did a family style spread with Chicken and lamb shish kabobs, hummus, falafel, salad, garlic dip and pita.
