After the first visit - replaced dead RAM and a failing hard drive - I picked up my computer but was still having power related issues (shutting down in hibernation). I got the impression the employees were trained and motivated to give the best customer service and experience possible, not just charge the customer as much as possible. Is kind is crazy to me, I pay 11$ an hr for a mechanic to look over my truck. Not a computer. I just think the prices are way too high. Overall I ended up paying 867$ for my compter to be fixed, when a couple 100$ more I could have bought a brand new Mac. And i couldn't even get all my files on my hard drive back. And the drive wasn't even damaged, only the screen was damaged. You pay 65$ when you drop it off, then they called me back to order the screen I could have paid the full bill of 460$, but I decided to pay 220$. And then I was told an 110$ N hour for labor and they'll charge me 4 hrs off the bat. I doubt it even take that long if they're as professional as they say. But then I ended up paying another 580$ when I picked it up. So your telling me another 5 hrs to bypass to get me to get apple again. Idk, it is what it is now. But I believe I was taken advantage of.

Knowing that most electronics are built with planned obsolescence, and that current similar TVs are much cheaper now than what we paid for ours, we wavered back and forth over trying to get it fixed or just buying a new one. I hate unnecessarily adding to landfills, so we decided to call Coughlin's. They were honest and upfront about everything from the start. They charged us a reasonable fee for pick-up and return, which would be applied towards the price of repair. They weren't able to find a new board for our older TV; Dan said he could try to fix the current board, but that there wasn't a 100% chance of success. Fortunately, they *were* able to fix it and get our HDMI ports working again. Yay! When they returned our TV they made sure that all the HDMI ports were working properly with our setup before they left. Hopefully this has added at least a couple of years to the life of our TV. Dan did say that when this particular set came out it was a top model. And they never tried to sell us a new set instead of trying to fix our old one. I appreciate their honesty and great service. We will definitely go back to them when we do need to finally replace our TV. Thank you!

We have an expensive flat-screen TV that we bought in 2010. It's a Toshiba Regza 46" (cost back then was more than $1000). I love it. The base is better than newer tvs because it's a lot more stable. It finally started getting quirky in 2020. I took it to Coughlin's and they were super attentive and fixed it for about $150 (cheaper than buying a new one). My spouse uses it and wanted something bigger but opted to keep the repaired and working Toshiba as a backup. We sure needed it. Bought an XBR800H Sony 55". I had it on, turned it off for a little while and turned it on but the screen was a light black and power was on. Thank goodness I remembered Coughlin's. Since the Sony is more of a computer than a tv, I didn't know if they'd be able to repair it. $175 a few days later and we have the what was a $600 tv working again. I loathe loathe loathe Sonys. I swore I'd never buy another decades ago. But I forgot ... This time, I told my spouse to remind me not to buy a Sony and I will be reminded if I touch another Sony again. But Coughlin's will be around to fix it when it stops working. I like the shop, the price, the dogs, the employees and the owners. It's funky old and fabulous. Everyone in the shop has been super nice and helpful.
