I recently placed a to go order through Uber Eats from here. There are a bunch of sushi restaurants in the area that we could've chosen, but something just made us go with this place. I ordered 2 of their "Sushi Combo C". Check out my picture to see what all comes with it! The Sushi Combo C is $14.95 an order. Not a bad price when you compare it to what you can get a Kroger for that price. The quality is definitely way better than Kroger, but don't expect top notch sushi. Everything tasted fresh and I really enjoyed everything I ate. However, nothing really stood out to me. The miso soup was OK. Not too salty, watered down, or cloudy. It was just right in my opinion. The sushi was solid so no complaints here. Perfect rice to fish ratio! We rarely every order through Uber Eats. We prefer to pick it up ourselves or dine in. However, Uber Eats sent me a $30 coupon, so how could I say no? In the end, would I order to go from here again through Uber Eats? Probably not. It's good every time we go. NorthEast Mall lacks in many areas. The food court inside the mall leaves a lot to be desired but they definitely have a great sushi spot. Make sure you try the Zena chips. They are a seasonal item, this dish delivers a perfect bite. Our service was friendly and fast. The rolls are also large in size. Horrible experience at this place. Uber eated some sushi, placed my order at 8:29pm and called 4 minutes later to ask for no topped eel. She said it was already made and she can't make any alterations. I asked if she could kindly just remove the topped eel, she said no we cannot and no we cannot remake the roll. My experience in one sentence... mediocre food, shady management. I normally love Zena. It's my first choice whenever I'm in town, and I've enjoyed delicious sushi from there on multiple occasions. That said, I've had several unfortunate run-ins with Zena management recently, all of which have left me feeling unhappy, underserved, and unvalued. The most notable instance of poor customer service was when I ordered takeout a few weeks ago, and the server rung in the wrong sushi combo. Once I got home and noticed, I immediately called up to the store... only to be told that the chef had left early for the night and that I needed to call back tomorrow. I couldn't even eat what I had received due to an allergy -- something I had told the waiter about when ordering. When I came back the next day to have my food remade, the manager informed me that they "would not be doing this in the future." I'm not even sure what she was referring to considering it was their mistake, and it was really jarring to be patronized for something so outside of my control. Another notable instance was tonight, when I ordered Sushi Combo F -- five pieces of salmon sushi, with a salmon avocado roll to boot. On the menu, the salmon avocado roll is the same price as the cream cheese roll, and the only difference between the two is that the cream cheese roll has... well, cream cheese. When I asked if I could substitute one for the other, however, I was met with a very abrupt "no" from the manager in the background. The waiter then informed me that they did not offer substitutions on the sushi combos... though when I asked if I could modify the roll to add cream cheese (effectively making the salmon avocado roll a cream cheese roll) they were happy to do so for a fee. Why charge me more for something you sell at the same price? And, beyond that, why be so rude about it? Regarding substitutions, I'd like to also note that I've asked about substituting out two pieces of shrimp sushi (included in ALL variety sushi combos) due to a shellfish allergy... and was met with similar resistance. To top if off, we found TWO pieces of hair in my food tonight, and each of my partner's avocado rolls included several pieces with ZERO avocado. That's like, all the roll is. Being frank, I'm extraordinarily saddened by the fact that this once-great establishment seems to now disappoint me every time. When you double down on your behavior to the extent that I don't even feel safe or comfortable enough to speak to management -- maybe it's time to listen and change. Good luck! Love me some good sushi! I decided to treat myself and enjoy a good sampling of some sushi at Zena after a long day of work. The atmosphere was quite relaxed, since it was not busy while I was there (it was a Tuesday night, I believe, so not peak time by any means). The young man who was my waiter seemed to be very new, and very nervous. He was the only part of my experience that was not stellar, so I am definitely not taking off any points for that. We were all new once, right? Anyway, I tried the Yama roll (a special, not on the regular menu) after seeing the amazing pictures of it on here on Yelp. I also ordered a starter of dumplings and a spicy tuna roll with hot green tea to drink. The tea was good, and the mug helped it stay hot for a good while. The dumplings were delicious and a good consistency. The spicy tuna was average, nothing to outstanding there, but then, it's just a tuna roll, so there's only so much you can do! The Yama roll was the star of the evening. It was spicy, with a good mix of flavors to roll around in the mouth. I ate every bite! I would come back just for that roll, no joke. I would definitely recommend Zena to someone looking for a great sushi joint in the HEB area. read more

I must say as a first timer, it was quite good! Was too afraid to try this place out since it's near the mall and usually places near the mall isn't very promising at all, but I gave it a try and wow I am amazed! Food: I got myself the takoyaki for my small bites and it was very good, not too overwhelming with their sauce but also very crunchy! And also the tuna rice crackers. I got Sunshine rolls and my fiancé got I think Combo B but my rolls was very good and delicious with the crunchy tempura and their sauce! Love it! My fiancé he likes his sashimi and rolls but the only thing that didn't look very good was his tuna sashimi. It looks like a gummy tuna to me when I poked it but he didn't really like it cause it had fishy taste to it. But overall the service was great and I'll keep trying more of their rolls! read more

Stopped by for a quick bite before a movie with my wife. Mixed it up getting a bit of this and that and it was pretty delicious. Price seemed on point and the place, although small, was clean and service was great. I particularly loved the smoked salmon. Got the Ahi Tower for the wife and I shared some of my sashimi bowl. Minimal soy sauce used cause the fish was just so delicious. I didn't want to mask the flavor with too much soy or wasabi. Will definitely get my fix for sushi here again especially if I'm walking into Rave for a movie after or even stopping for a bite post movie. read more

Ok, this will be a dual review - the service gets a serious 5 stars! Our waiter, whose name is not on the sales slip (says manager 01) was on his game! Drink refills came before we were empty, plates were cleared as soon we were finished and he was professional, friendly and amazing! Food gets 2 stars from hubby and 3 stars from me. Our appetizers were beef dumplings and a 2-piece order of egg rolls. Both came out together, piping hot! The egg rolls were solid and full of yummy ingredients. The pot stickers were fried to perfection and served with a yummy dipping sauce. I ordered the chicken bowl, which is basically stir-fried chicken, onions and peppers, served on sticky white rice with a little 'house salad mix' on the bottom. I asked for my salad to be in a separate bowl, which was no problem. I asked for the house salad dressing (a ginger something) and it was good but not great. The Miso soup that came with both our meals was the most flavorful I think I've ever had. The broth had a really rich and velvety quality to it and it was also piping hot. My chicken and rice bowl was HUGE! I couldn't finish it and the chicken was seasoned perfectly and was quite tender. The rice was stickier than regular white rice, but with a little soy sauce, it unstuck a bit! Overall, a great deal of food for only $9. Hubby ordered the salmon roe sushi, which he said tasted a little off. He also ordered the sashimi combo and subbed out some red fish something for yellow-tail. He said the pieces were cut oddly, like long and skinny - they didn't fit in your mouth without folding them. Typically, he's had more rectangular cuts, so that was a bit awkward. None of the fish tasted as fresh as it should per him, except the salmon sashimi. Overall, before tip it was $52 which is quite pricey for lunch. I know sushi's expensive but hubby was pretty disappointed overall with the quality. Thanks to our waiter for making the meal an enjoyable experience! read more

Price wise this place is great for the portions you get. Their sweet tea is spot on. Service is fantastic and friendly. I got to combo F dish and I was very happy with the presentation. The only issue I had was that the salmon in my meal was too thick and unevenly cut. I know that seems a bit nit picky but really enjoy sushi both raw and cooked and I've had it a number of times in different places and different counties. This was just too much fish for this particular dish. What I did eat of it I enjoyed and will probably visit again. read more

Ginger on the side seemed and tasted like it's been sitting out for a while and the sushi didn't feel very fresh but I guess living in Texas it's hard to find fresh sushi. We have Alexus and she's awesome! I ordered the house salad for an appetizer. I love the house salad but maybe here, was okay. There wasn't much of the sauce, it was a little chunky as well but still good! I'm trying to cut back on carbs and I know rice is loaded with it, so I ordered the cutie roll that's wrapped in cucumbers. It was delicious! The cucumber was so soft but still had a crunch to it!
