Not many seats and they are pretty busy. We ended up carrying out because there were only bar seats and it's way TOO HOT inside! Just for waiting our order, we were sweating out. The staff are nice and patient, the menu comes with vivid pictures and easy for the customers to select. The pancake tacos are amazing!! You get to pick 3 flavors. It's like soufflé pancakes wrap up as a taco with your choices of toppings. Must order. So moist, fluffy and delicious.

I ordered the matcha latte with kuromitsu syrup and kinako powder. This was aromatic without the bitterness. And through some form of wizardy, you don't get an ounce of matcha powder sinking to the bottom. In other matcha places (or when I make it at home), you always get a thick layer of matcha powder on the bottom of the glass. I also ordered the matcha pancakes, which are the signature Japanese souffle pancakes. This comes with a thick layer of matcha cream, which wasn't too sweet and something that was truly desirable, and this is coming from someone who finds more decadent heavy desserts repulsive. I also had the chicken katsu, which came with miso soup, rice, and salad. I think the chicken katsu here had the perfect crunch and the sauce / rice that came with it was delicious. The miso soup was also quite tasty. Word of advice from the server was to purchase the combination, which allowed me to get everything I wanted for steep discount in comparison to buying everything aforementioned individually. One downside was that only street parking is available.

Unfortunately this lot is quite small for how many people it serves and it's annoying to get in and out. The food is good though and the servers are nice. I enjoyed the coffee, it was a nice smooth medium roast and did not taste burnt. We got a traditional waffle which had a nice sweet batter. The texture is that of an Eggo but I personally prefer that to thick waffles. I didn't care much for the apple chunks. It would have been better if they were baked apple slices but the chunks were somewhat crunchy in a way that didn't quite suite the waffle. I would get the waffles again but not the apple flavor. Thankfully I had a side of bananas and cream to eat with the waffle. The sausage patties were good. Our favorite was the biscuits and gravy. They have a spectacular biscuit! It was the right amount of soft and flaky. The sausage gravy was perfectly savory with nice bits of sausage. Definitely on my list of best biscuits and gravy in SoCal.

Was hesitant to come by on Sunday morning around 10a after a Hollywood Reservoir run because our group of 8 didn't want to wait. Showed up anyways and so glad we did. Only waited about 10 mins before we were offered two booths that seat 4. I ordered a drip coffee ($4.25) and lox bagel ($17). The drip coffee was decent, not my favorite but got the job done and they were good about refills. The lox bagel was light, easy on the cream cheese, and had the toppings that make a lox just right. Our server was extremely attentive even through the busyness. My only qualm was the 20% large party charge on our bill despite us splitting our group, sitting on different tables, and getting two separate checks. There's also a 4% additional tax "Kitchen Appreciation" which caught us off guard. Gotta love LA. Loved the diner minus the uncalled for additional charges.
