The first time, I went there with my friend, the lady doing my nails said "I'll kill you if you move you hands" and she thought it was funny. A few weeks later I went there and I asked and this "boss" lady to do my nails, firstly she complained about the length I was getting and paying for, later I asked a simple question and she gave a attitude and said "calm downnn and rolled her eyes" and she did some messed up bulky nails on my hands for $85. It wasn't even the design I wanted, she WON'T do my nails the way i want them done, unless she likes them, and now the polish is slowly peeling off. Never going there again. I was a customer for 3 years. In February 2024 I scheduled an appointment for a balance/pedi but when I got there I was only scheduled for a balance. Ok, mistakes happen. Next appointment March 2024 on a Friday afternoon for a new set and a pedi. The pedi took 2 hours but during this time they started preparing my nails (soak and remove old acrylic). In the mean time Becka had already started another client. (They always over schedule - more money) and only have 2 experienced techs. There were several times I waited over an hour when I had an appointment. On this visit I was told they didn't have time for a new set but I could come back later or on Saturday. I was speechless. I had an appointment. They had already removed the product. Why should I come back another time? I was asked several times if I wanted to come back and I finally told the lady that I needed to process what they were asking me to do. I was pissed and didn't want to make a seen. During this encounter, Becka would not make eye contact with me. No apology --- not one word. So, I paid my bill and left without a word. I did call back later to speak to Becka who would not listen to a word I was saying. She talked over me like I was a child. Her reasoning was because I wasn't her only customer and that she didn't have time to finish my new set of nails, then she hung up on me. After being a customer for 3 years and being told that they didn't have time to finish my service I guess it was time that I moved on. ZAN Nails is ALL about doing as many clients as they can. Short cuts, no time to complete your service, and rude (at the end). If you need a one time service you should be ok but if you are looking for a regular nail tech --- THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU. read more

So frustrating! They were out of the OPI polish I normally use (Bubble Bath) and didn't tell me until AFTER I was half way through my pedicure. I agreed to another polish which was streaky and had poor coverage. Twice the tech tried to pass the shoty polish job as acceptable. The third time he cleaned my nail he ruined my sandals with acetone... After 45 minutes another person came to help, removed all the color and tried to redo it again. I found this was a little pricey. They start at 35.00 and for that was a very basic pedicure. There were no hot towels. I guess it really depends where you are used to going for price ranges. if I could give zero stars, I would. I took my daughter and niece for pedicures that ended up costing me almost $200 for the 3 of us, and in the end my daughter came out with a foot in pain because they decided to dig into her nail bed, and my niece didn't get the color she wanted even though she kept asking them to change the color (she wanted nude and they applied bright pink). None of their equipment was sterilized and I noticed that they used a callus grater on the guy next to me, something that was definitely not sterilized and I'm pretty sure they aren't supposed to use that. Anyhow, this place is remarkable in that it remains open despite horrible service and questionable hygienic practices. read more

I will not go back here again. First I got a pedicure for $42, that just included regular finger nail polish. I showed him the colors I wanted in gel on my finger nails and told him I wanted them to match. In which as you can see in the picture they definitely do not match. Then I got them done for my trip and I am here 1 day and one of my toes are already peeling off in which I really haven't done much other than spending a day in the car traveling. My wife and I were just playing around on Yelp to see what reviews some of the local businesses we use received when we came across Zen Nails and she was dismayed that they didn't have a higher star rating. I noticed that the bulk of the poor reviews are several years old - some 4 or even 5 years out of date. My wife decided to contribute a positive review more reflective of their current services. I agreed to leave one from the perspective of a spouse of one of their customers. My wife uses Zen Nails for both her year round, monthly manicures and her three season pedicures for when she can wear open toed shoes to work. She's tried numerous local salons over the years, was dissatisfied with each for one reason or another, but finally settled on Zen Nails. While I've never had a manicure or pedicure in my life, I can vouch that their work must be better than her previous salons because she isn't frustrated, annoyed, or just plain grouchy because her nails chip or whatever. I also agree that the French manicures she gets at Zen Nails appear more attractive and professional than those from other salons. As a white collar professional I recognize the importance of looking well groomed and attired and her nails add to her competent, professional look. There are hundreds of nail salons in Licking County, with several dozen in the Heath/Newark area alone, but my wife swears by Zen Nails over the others for its quality work and therefore I do too because it makes her happier - and frankly their prices are competitive. read more

I went there for a full set of acrylics. The guy did them, but after he finished and I looked completely at them, it looked like I needed to get them balanced. There were also little black hole, looking things, on my thumb nail. My family is in the salon biz and I've been raised with proper nail architecture. I have a special way I like my nails done and although I'm very gracious and patient this really offends the men at this shop. When I come in they roll their eyes and moan and hand me over to a female tech that has a good atitude and at least tries to listen to my requests. Unfortunately I don't always get her and when I don't I deal with outrageous attitudes. I got tired of fighting with the techs and just let them do it their way, but then my nails were a disaster - breakage, lifting, and my first nail fungus! They don't know how to build a strong nail. We're in farming country, I need a strong nail with arches and when it's done my way I never have lifting or breakage. I finally just soaked them off, it's not worth the stress. Would give negative stars if I could. Went to get my nails done last night, tech talked me out of what I wanted. Kept recommending I get acrylic because she "knew what I liked, and how I liked to get designs" I didnt want designs. I wanted a dip manicure. When I expressed my concerns, told her I had to leave to get my daughter in a half hour and asked how much longer the appointment would be (originally told half hour, was now there for an hour) she asked for my hand, literally cut off all the nail tips she had just done and said "Go get your daughter, you want to waste 40 minutes of my time you can get out" asked her what I was supposed to do, she said she didnt care and to leave. I then had to call urgently around town to get my nails done at 5:30 at night because she wouldnt give me what I originally asked for. TERRIBLE experience. Thankfully, Envi Nails got me in, fixed what she cut off the best they could and I will NEVER return to Zen Nails. I even told her to take it off after she cut off the tips with acetone, she refused and told me to get out. Of course, I was upset but if she would have originally just given me the manicure I asked for, we would have had an entirely different experience. Listen to your customers and stop telling them what they want. She left me in a terrible situation to get these fixed (no polish, just the acrylic cut off at the tips all jagged and rough, uneven etc) and if Envi wouldnt have taken care of me after hours, I would have been up a creek. read more

When I let her know she was hurting me ...she says" ask for someone else next time". I went late in the morning (Saturday) and was greeted right away and my questions were answered thoroughly. Worst pedicure I have ever paid for in my life, and I've had a lot! I complained before she put the polish on because my toenails were literally pointy on the sides and jagged on the top! I was greeted by an even more rude and rushed young woman who wasn't even going to put base coat on my toenails. Big turnover in technicians and attitude problem. Also very expensive. If you find someone you like they might be gone next time. The new person left my nails soaking in removal solution while he took another person. It irritated and finally burned my skin and when I asked if I could take it out he put it on heat irritating my skin more. Originally he said 15 min. in solution but left much longer than that and I had just had a pedicure. He could have had my nails soak during pedicure but guess that would have been too proactive?? In my opinion not very good customer service and over 100$ for service. I always tip well but don't expect that to affect any kind of good service. High turnover of employees -- and they won't tell you if you ask that the person left, just try to push you to another employee. I'm not entirely certain that anyone here has any actual training or certification in anything... Today I had the most rushed manicure (if you'd call it that) -- the guy whipped off my gel with a buffer like tool and attempted to just start painting and not bother cleaning the cuticle off my nail bed, and seemed a little offended that I felt this was necessary. Just sloppy, and I left with topcoat all over my cuticles and fingers, a big glob on the side of my thumb -- and no cuticle oil to finish it off. He seemed in a rush and actually stopped to paint someone else's nails while mine "dried". It seems worse every time I go there, so thinking this is the last. I questioned the cleanliness today, watching them put a bowl someone had soaked in right back on their table without cleaning it...
