They have glass windows to the kitchen to see the hand made dumplings in action. We got the shrimp and pork soup dumplings and Signature XLB soup dumplings. I like both of them. I think their skin is a bid thick. But they hold the soup perfectly. I still prefer thinner skin. We also got the braise beef noodles soup, signature Bao pan fried, sweet and sour baby ribs, zen chili wonton and beef pancakes rolls. Among them I like the baby ribs and noodles. Service is excellent. Very quick and responsive. There table stand foundation take too much space and is inclined. It is not comfortable for long term sitting for legs to rest on it. Applause applause for the new Dumpling spot in Tampa Bay. It's located in Brandon, FL. Tons of parking in this plaza with nearby stores of Barnes and Nobles, Five Below and across the way TJ Maxx and Old Navy just to give you an idea of where they are. We were the first for lunch at 11am. No lunch specials - they have the same menu all day. They give you a piece of paper and you mark down what you want and how many. There's a QR code on the table and it shows pics and prices. First things first we ordered from the apps. We had the braised beef buns. There are two. They are ok compared to others I have. It also has a piece of lettuce and a slice of cucumber and a few thin slices of beef with a slightly sweet salty flavor. We also ordered soup dumpling samplers. These are great especially if it's your first time. They come with 6 of the following: 1. Truffle - Least fave bc I don't like truffle. 2. Crab - Fave 3. Chicken 4. Pork 5. Shrimp - 2nd Fave 6. Beef Many of these also have pork within them in case you don't eat pork FYI. The dumplings are a little bit smaller than palm size, and since they are handmade they may not have the same amount of broth. We had the Shanghai dumplings as well which are pan fried. Those were my fave fave. They put a flour egg crust on it and that makes it so tasty. Lastly, we had the Dan Dan Noodles. The flavor can be addicting - a peanut or sesame flavor, but it was very spicy. So if you love heat, this may be for you. It doesn't have any meat with it. Besides the food, the server was the star of this experience. Rose was fabulous. She was upbeat, friendly, and had great recommendations. First time here. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Service was excellent. We ordered one thing from each section to try. First was spicy cucumber salad. Super fresh and great seasoning. I came here with my mom for a girls lunch! Boy was there a line and the waitlist was long but it was warranted! I see why! The signature bao are very good. The service was flawless. Definitely try this restaurant! But Do Not get the General Tso Chicken; it has a good sauce with fresh bell peppers and broccoli, however they use the same pre breaded chicken pieces as you would find at Panda Express! After having such an amazing experience at the Orlando location, we decided to stop at Zen Dumpling. I had been raving about it to my husband and this was going to be his first time trying it. Even though it was a Monday afternoon, this spot was poppin' for lunch. They had a short wait for a table, but you can easily join their virtual waitlist when you arrive. We were seated within about 5 minutes and they brought over a high chair for my son. I started with some hot tea and I knew I basically wanted the exact items I had tried during my first visit because everything was SO GOOD. I marked our selections on the ordering form including the spicy cucumber salad, truffle pork soup dumplings, and the mini bao bites. This ended up being the perfect amount of food for 2 of us to share. If you're looking to order one more thing, get the zen chili wontons. We had a few different soup dumplings, hot & sour soup, spicy cucumber salad, signature bao and the Mongolian beef. IMO everything lack flavor the only the was good is the Mongolian beef. As I mentioned we had a variety of soup dumplings and they all tasted the same very bland. The decor of the restaurant was nice and social media worthy but it felt crammed. The lighting inside is warm and cozy and the vibes are there. Finally!! Some Xiao Long Bao in Tampa! I've been complaining for years that there wasn't any quality XLB and now there is! The dumplings are delicious - I tried the Chili wontons, Truffle, Pork with Crab, and Chicken XLB. The Chili wontons, Truffle and Crab are the best. Also tried the Shanghai fried dumplings - love the crispy bottoms. The only dish I strongly disliked was their Beef Noodle Soup...the broth was reminiscent of pho? And there wasn't much flavor to it. The beef definitely wasn't braised enough. No spice. Also not sure why there were carrots in there. The noodles weren't bouncy or chewy either. Service is great, quick, helpful, and attentive. The space itself isn't huge but has enough seats and space between so you're not walking sideways. Decor is adorable! What used to be a Hawaiian poke bowl place is now a Chinese place. We were surprised to see this as we wanted to try the poke place but too late. Anyway what a great find! Zen Dumpling, as it is now named is a jewel hiding in the AMC Regency Plaza on Rt 60 at I-75. Busy on a Saturday afternoon, Xmas shoppers, including us, it was a short wait for a booth, staff was super nice. Once seated a menu on a slip of paper is placed on your table with a pen. Didn't take long to figure out it was a you choose what you want, mark up the slip and a waitress comes by and picks it up. We had quite @ few questions (first timers) and she was happy to answer all our questions. Wasn't long before the food showed up, Mongolian Beef with white rice and Vegetable noodles.
