I used to go to Lee House all the time before it went under new management and the food was amazing. After they sold it, the rice always tasted really burnt and our other favorites suffered as well. Needless to say, we stopped going to Lee House for a few years. However, I tried them again recently and I must say that while the portion sizes are MUCH smaller than before (and they seem to upcharge for the slightest changes) the food tasted amazing again. We had the fried rice with Mongolian beef, fried rice with chicken and broccoli, egg drop soup and fresh rolls. We liked evetything except for the fresh rolls. Just note that switching from chicken fried rice to pork fried rice is $1.50 upcharge (which is not a huge deal but she didn't mention it) and they no longer have fountain drinks so no refills if you dine in. I will definitely be back to try some of my other favorites. read more

I used to live in Brandon and this was my go-to Chinese takeout spot. I always ordered for delivery. Never ate inside. We had a wonderful experience eating here. The food was just as delicious, but the way it was served and presented made it even more enjoyable. The vibe inside is relaxed. Decor seems like it hasn't been touched in a few years, but the staff is all friendly and courteous, and the food is brought out in courses, to enjoy one thing at a time. The food. This is by far one of the best Chinese food joints in Tampa Bay. When you don't even need to reach for the soy sauce because the protein, rices, and noodles have more than enough flavor on their own, you know the food's excellent. We had the Kung Pao Chicken, Crabmeat Rangoon, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, pork lo mein, and egg rolls. All of it was phenomenal! The one thing I didn't dig too much was the doughy-ness of the pork buns, but that's just how they are. The filling was delicious, though. The portions are GENEROUS! Sweet but useless waitress was befuddled even in a nearly empty restaurant. -hot tea - asked for hot, asked for a different pot - got room temp twice. I've been in the Brandon area for 10 years and Lee House is only sit down Chinese restaurant in town. My partner loves it and always suggests it. Prior to the pandemic, I would only go because he liked it. The food was good, but the bitter old lady who owned it made me rather order out and eat at my dining room table. At least I was being yelled at for breathing. Fast forward to 2024... My partner wanted a sit down Chinese meal. I agreed to Lee House. I am glad we did. Four years is a lifetime in the restaurant world. We walked in and the feel was different. There were upgrades from the shabby cut up booths and fresh paint. We were immediately seated by a young lady and asked for our drink order. We received nice new menus with a plethora of items to order. Hot tea and water as we viewed the menu. I wasn't super hungry, more of an app and soup kind of a night. The sweet young lady came by to take our order a few minutes later. For me, a large bowl of wonton soup and beef skewers. My partner in crime, cashew chicken. The normal wait for any food, we talked about this and that. Dinner finally arrived. I loved how everything came out together so we can eat together. The large soup... you'll be taking home lunch tomorrow. I did not expect such a large bowl of beef broth yumminess. The wontons melted in my mouth and the broth, PERFECT! the green onions still crunchy and melded perfect with the broth. Yes, I had wonton soup for lunch today! The beef skewers in a syrupy mango sauce was to die for!! I sampled the cashew chicken with egg fried rice. I kept going back. So flavorful and more than 2 meals. This was my first experience with Lee House restaurant and I am sad to say that I was very disappointed. I ordered the Shrimp Egg Fu Yung. The egg omelette, along with the shrimp inside was overcooked to the point where the shrimp were dry, additionally, the food had no seasoning and was bland. After ordering Chinese food, delivery or many many years, I have never been disappointed as much as this particular order disappointed me. I have never experienced other menu items from this restaurant, but I am hopeful that this was a circumstance that is not a normal occurrence from this restaurant and that other food items are more pleasurable. read more

Let me tell you...I had a 9 hour day and never got to eat. I searched the Brandon area for Chinese and this was convenient..went inside and ordered off the Menu to take to go..what a great menu! Thai and Pho also offered...I ordered Chicken Chow Mein which came with Chicken Fried Rice and Wonton Soup and I ordered a Pork Egg Roll...I did not get any pictures since I took one bite and kept going..it was Fresh, delicious and the portion was very generous...the Rice was even flavorful too, alot of times the Rice on the side is flavorless, not here..no Soy Sauce needed...I will be back when in town again..the owner was very nice and welcoming as well...they are redoing the inside too and am looking forward to dining in..I wish I had pictures.... read more

First time dining here on 12/29/23. Arrived and was seated immediately. The place was a little disjointed as the area next to cash register seems to be a staging area for something else, and the tables and booths for customers are hidden around the corner behind a half wall. Our order was taken quickly and prepared in about 15 minutes. The portions were so large we wish we had just shared a dish. Bourbon chicken and a Thai fried rice medley were the meals. Looked promising at my annual visit, from the outside, it seemed renovated. However, Almost all the booth seats are broken, it's a sink hole. The customer across from me try to tell them about his broken back chair but was ignored. I got up and just reseated myself farther down toward the back. I was questioned why and told them, I'm not even very heavy, can't imagine anyone else able to sit and eat. Whatever you do, do not use the restrooms. Dept of health should condemn it. Service was awful, finally the one decent server, a young Caucasian girl came and saved me. She was wonderful. If it wasn't for her I would have walked out. Had to ask for the dim sum menu, it had been cut, many past items were no longer there. They have added Vietnamese items and Thai as well. Perhaps other foods were good and the lunch specials but I am no longer a fan. I ordered 5 dim sum dishes, 2 were lousy. The sticky rice wrapped in the green leaves were not sticky, when you open them all the rice would literally fall out. I wasn't going to say anything but the server encouraged me to talk to the manager/owner? She came and said she purchased rIce that was labeled sticky, I told her, you know there are different brands. This one is probably cheaper but def not what is needed for this recipe. The other tofu steam dish was tasteless. It used to be good. It all used to be good. Well, meanwhile the nice server had problems with other patrons. I felt bad for her, in the end, I told the nice server I wouldn't return but I appreciated her. She deserves to work somewhere that appreciates her. I left her a tip double my bill. Its been 9 or so years since I have been in the Tampa / Braden area in Florida. This place is the hole in the wall we hear about serving Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese food. My favorite all time appetizer is the dim sum shrimp balls. We got takeout from here for the first time last night and was blown away at how good the food was. The quality and freshness was on par with a upscale Chinese restaurant. We ordered over the phone since we did not see the option to order combination meals online. I got the Mongolian beef combination with an egg roll and pork fried rice. My husband got pork lo mein combination with an egg roll and egg fried rice. The lo mein and fried rice had great flavor. The fried rice use to be the best in the county, but now it's just some al dente rice drowned in soy sauce with over cooked meat. They have a good selection of vegetarian dishes. Also close enough to drive there for a take out dinner without using delivery. Veggie spring rolls were flaky and crispy; not greasy at all, which was a very pleasant surprise. The Buddha's Delight with Tofu was also very good, if maybe a little salty. The veggies were fresh and tasty and the tofu was cooked beautifully. Again, not greasy at all. The baby bokchoy and portabella mushrooms were a nice addition that you don't normally see at the other local Chinese joints. We added just a taste of gochujang paste to make it a little spicy. We look forward to trying Lee House again whenever we don't feel like cooking a meal at home. read more

Lee House is reminiscent of the sit down Chinese restaurant your parents took you to as a kid. It's one of the few sit-down Chinese eateries in Brandon. The decor is a bit dated but that is no reflection of the quality of the food or their friendly staff. Or at least they were before coronavirus. I've only gotten take out from then since the pandemic so I really can't speak for the dining area at this time. They do have a system where you call your order in and swing around the back of the building and pick your food up at the side drive-thru window. The food here is always flavorful and robust. It doesn't taste diluted or greasy like most other cheaper Chinese takeout around town. They have combination lunches and dinners that are extremely affordable. The takeout container is filled to the brim! Our family favorites are the wonton soup, the beef with broccoli, roast pork lo mein, roast pork fried rice, great egg rolls, fried wontons and the sweet and sour chicken. I love this place when I crave Dim Sum. I grew up on the west coast and there are Dim Sum locations every few feet. Not in Florida. This place always delivers for the Lunar New Year. This place will provide some traditional dishes. I love the soup selection and the sugar donuts are a must! The dim sum is always flavorful and fresh. Nothing needs added soy sauce because the favor is top notch. We've had every option of dim sum and no complaints. SIDE NOTE: Steamed Pork will still have a pink hue - it's NOT fried like southerners are used to. Look if you are looking for that Americanized Panda stuff with sauces that are too sweet and "House fried rice" as an entree then move along but if you want authentic this is the place. Sorry, I'm not one for fried rice as an entree. I grew up eating left over steamed rice with egg as a breakfast dish! lol ..
