Picture of our pups playing at Zen Dogs!
    Cate K.

Zen Dogs takes care of your furry family members like they are their own. Every single person on the staff is fantastic, and we have total peace of mind when we send our pups there for daycare and boarding. Cynthia has created a top-notch business with two locations - Fulton Mkt and Logan Square/Bucktown. Our dog started at the Fulton location and when we moved back to Chicago, we went to Logan Square. Boarding and weekend daycare takes place at Fulton. Both locations are great! Mostly importantly, we know our dogs love it. In the morning when getting ready to take them we tell them it's time for daycare, and our older dog can't get out to the car fast enough! She absolutely adores it. We get pictures of them playing together and with their friends weekly. We love Zen and would recommend it to anyone.

My dogs Poptart & Joe love going to Zen Dogs at the Logan Square location! They thrive on the consistency of seeing the other dogs in their pack on the weekdays. All of their dog friends seem very friendly and fun. Poptart also attended puppy school in her younger days, which was very helpful! Both dogs are having a blast on the live stream at all times. The staff is great and super responsive. It's easy to tell that they really care about the dogs under their care, including rotating the dogs inside for naps and in the case of harsh weather. Also, we get our dogs groomed at zen dogs. They do a great job and it is incredibly efficient to be able to drop off your dogs for a fun day at daycare and pick up clean, fluffy dogs. Younger Vinny getting used to being around the group! He's come a long way.

First off I would like to thank Cynthia and the entire Zen Dogs team for how far my pup has come along in ~3 months of joining them. I have an 8 month old German Shepherd (Vinny) who I brought to Zen dogs (Fulton St. Location) when he was about 4-5 months old. We had done some basic socialization classes elsewhere and he was having trouble with socializing around other dogs. A friend of mine recommended Zen dogs and after a 1 on 1 consultation session, my pup began the "Puppy College" option they have under training. When I first brought Vinny, he was shy and nervous. Week after week I saw progress in his ability to play with/socialize with other dogs and humans. Now, after 2 months of being there, Vinny has a ton of friends and is part of the pack! Its safe to say he loves going to day care there and has a good time with his dog friends. They did a phenomenal job getting him comfortable in different environments and dialing in basic leash obedience. When I take him for walks, I can notice the difference as he is more focused and does not pull on the leash (important when you have a big dog)! I am beyond happy with my experience with the Zen Dogs team. Big Kudos to their trainer Alex as well for being responsive and offering great professional advice for Vinny during 1 on 1 training sessions offered as part of their training program as well. Overall, I highly recommend Zen Dogs for anyone interested in Day care/training/boarding. The "Zen" aspect of their name is right on the money as well. The environment they create for the dogs is both fun (lots of space to play) and chill due to how calm the dogs are while playing. I have yet to pick up Vinny and hear a cacophony of barks like you do at other outdoor day care/boarding places. Very chill environment. I am excited to continue to bring my dog here and support a local business, especially during these tough times. Please consider bringing your dog here for. Thank you Zen Dogs for everything you guys do!

Ask the Community - Zen Dogs Chicago

Hello! Does any one know the boarding schedule while there? When do they go in the crates and when are they taken out? I am concerned that my current facility just leaves them in too long. Thanks for the info!

My understanding is one hour in crate one hour in play, with the first few hours as all play.

We've worked with one of the trainers there, Jazz, in two private sessions but their help goes way beyond just those in person hours. Jazz has offered counsel over email several times when we've reached out with behavior questions or just general dog advice. They truly have gone above and beyond with helping us become confident dog owners. When we are in person, the facility is clean and spacious and the staff treat our dog like their own. They answer any and all of your questions and check in several times to make sure it's all making sense to you. We will be back in the future and I recommend for all pet parents!

Yvonne has a wonderful way with dogs and is very equipped to deal with challenging dogs.  Darby quickly warmed up to her because she knew the right way to interact with him.  He quickly learned to trust and LOVE her.  She has become his favorite person by far!  She has helped us immensely by teaching us how to meet Darby where he is at and engage him.  Make no mistake- you have to do the work if you want your dog to get better. It is HARD WORK.  But you will have a knowledgeable, funny, and caring teacher right behind you if you work with Yvonne.   Darby is still working very hard, but he has made such huge strides. In a year, we went from a dog who was snapping and growling at us to joining a group class!!!  We never thought this would be possible!!!  We just can't believe he is the same dog!  We just finished the Basic class with Yvonne and it was fantastic.  The Avondale location is spacious, so you have plenty of space to work with your pup and the homework is helpful and just enough- not too overwhelming. It is great value for the price! I can't say enough positive things about experience. If you have a challenging pup, this is the place.  There is hope. Thank you, Yvonne and Anything is Pawzible!

While every aspect of the program was fantastic, two things really stood out. First, the team genuinely cares about every dog--it's clear in everything they do. Second, this wasn't just a training experience for our puppy; it was a learning experience for us as owners, too. As first-time puppy owners, they gave us the skills and confidence we needed, and the progress our puppy made was incredible. We can now take him places and truly enjoy the experience. We initially signed up for six weeks but extended it by three more because of how much progress he was making--and because we knew the impact would be long-lasting. We're even planning to bring him back this summer for additional off-leash training (and because we're pretty sure he misses it!). I can't say enough positive things about the facilities, the staff, and the level of care they provide. They're always available to answer questions and show a genuine investment in each dog's success. It's also such a relief to have found a place we trust for boarding and grooming. Thank you, Found, for everything--you've truly changed our lives and our puppy's life!!

I mention dachshund because they are notoriously stubborn and can be very difficult to train. From the first day, all my dogs were magically somehow clued in and listening to John. He truly has an other worldly connection with dogs. I couldn't get my dog to do anything and John had them able to do "sit", "Stay", "come" and "heel" on the first day. He then taught me how to handle my dog and get them to pay attention. The best part is the dogs are so much happier. It's as if they feel someone is communicating with them, and they are not alone. It's incredible to watch and my dogs remembered everything they learned their whole lives. John is the nicest person. He deeply loves and respects dogs and has made his life in the service of training them. It's a worthwhile investment. I actually tried a less expensive option as I am retired now but it was nothing like "Good Dog" and my dog was fearful and cowering. Leaving the house was pure chaos and nearly impossible to do. Encounters with strangers and other dogs were complete hell that I tried to avoid at all costs so my dog ended up staying home most of the time. I tried other trainers and anxiety medications for my dog but they provided minimal relief. Once I took my dog to Tim, I started seeing improvement each week. Tim is very knowledgeable about dog behavior and offers a very individualized approach to every dog's needs. He is passionate about dogs and dog training and really cares about getting results for you and your dog. He listens and provides thoughtful insight and helps you to understand and change your dog's behavior so that you have life-long lasting results. He has completely rehabilitated my dog in a way that I didn't think was possible. He really believed in my dog's potential and encouraged me not to give up, for which I am incredibly thankful. His classes are interesting and uniquely designed and focus on a variety of skills so that your dog is challenged and not bored. It has been very rewarding seeing my dog (as well as all the other dogs in the class) make so much progress. Thanks to Tim my dog no longer has to be left behind at home and I can take him with me when I go out. He is much calmer and more confident, listens to commands and gets compliments on his manners. I can now take him on walks, go to parks, the beach, outdoor patios, shopping, etc. and enjoy life and the city together. Even if your dog doesn't have behavioral issues, I really recommend Tim and his dog training classes for basic dog obedience. Even if your dog just needs to brush up on a few skills like listening to commands, leash walking, impulse control, etc., I highly recommend Tim.
