I treated myself to a massage and called to check for available appointments. They told me to come in 10 minutes. I arrived within that time, and the masseuse asked me to pay upfront. I handed her my card, and she informed me of a $5 credit card fee. I was okay with this until she asked for a tip before providing the service. This made me uncomfortable, so I told her I would tip after the service. She then led me to a room, saying she would need another 10 minutes for some reason. I ended up waiting for 30 minutes before she finally started. While waiting, I noticed several signs stating they didn't provide sexual services and that police could inspect the rooms at any time, which gave me really weird vibes. When the masseuse finally began, her technique involved pinching and a weird rapid pressing motion that was just awful. The last 20 minutes of the massage was low effort. I was quite annoyed by the end of it and wanted to be over with it. Despite the poor experience, I still opted to give her a 20% tip and she had the audacity to be upset with the amount and asked for more. I was shocked but stood firm and refused to give more despite her trying to "negotiate" her tip multiple times. She finally processed the tip amount I had decided, and I left. My fiancé and I visited Zen for the valentine day special The receptionists was lovely (sorry I don't know your name)! The spa was really clean, relax and beautiful . Even the bathroom was nice. We walked in our cute couple room with fresh flowers all around the floor. Our massage was Incredible. My massage therapist took note of areas bothering me and spend time working them out. We both got full hour aromatherapy and my fiancé fall sleep just next to me. They also use organic oil during the massage. We paid for $120 for couple Massage and left $40 for tip so $20 for each. I went with my husband and we both thought it was one of the best massage we have received in awhile. The price was excellent at a dollop a minute. My therapist was professional, polite and nice. For years, my husband and I used to come to this location when it was known as Body Zen. The owner sold the business, and know it is known as Zen Day Spa. We decided to give them a try-bad mistake. We called an 10:45 on 7/7/19, and they said they could get us both in for 90 minutes at 11 am. We went. When we arrived, they were not ready, but took me back, and hubby was advised he would have to wait 30 minutes. I was 50 minutes into the massage, mainly on my calves, and the lady says I will do 1 hour 10 minutes, yet I had already paid for 90 minutes for both of us before I went in and my husband waited. I told her, no I paid for 90 minutes. She runs out of the room, speaks something to another individual, comes back in and is upset she has to continue. The last 30 minutes were a waste. I was very upset when she was finished. I come out of the room, and my husband, who should have still been in his massage, is in her s truck. I go out to the truck, and he said he only received 1 hour massage. I got in the truck, and the person working the front room, came running out chasing me for a tip, that I did not feel anyone deserved as they charged and received money for 90 minutes for each of us already. A tip is just that, a tip for service. Don't expect it! I WILL NOT BE BACK AND TELL OTHERS ABOUT MY FIRST AND LAST EXPERIENCE WITH THIS NEW OWNER. This has been one of the worst experiences that I have had for the massage. They charge over $50 for an hour but the quality is worse than those foot massage store which charges only $20 an hour. The lady who did my massage barely knows how to massage. Even I could have done better than her. Not mentioning the desired pressure level, it almost felt like she was just touching you with a little pressure even I asked for hard strength. As a "professional", she has extremely long nails which scratches the body so painful and probably left some marks. I've never seen any therapist who has such long nails. She rushed toward the end and almost brushed through the foot in such a hurry. She only massaged for 50 mins even I bought 1 hour service. The whole experience I'm like enduring the service, far from enjoying it. I should have just left after the first 15 minutes but was having the false hope that things might become better. Excellent experience when I was there last week with my mom. I have been looking for a massage place for awhile through yelp. I checked out the yelp reviews, the usual mix of starts, a lots more positive than negative. I figure if I call and they can commode two people we will go, so we did. Same day! The lady who answered my phone is very friendly. We got deep tissue massage for both of us which was just right pressure. My massage lady was very sweet, asked if there were any problems areas and got to work. She was focused and really take care my problem areas. Same as my mom. She like her massage too. I bought I bought a 60 Minute salt scrub Groupon for $58. It was hard to find, but they were very nice about explaining how to get there when I called. They didn't seem to realize that I had made an appointment, but scrambled to make it work for me. The hallway was so dark I could barely see where I was going and the room itself was very lowly lit. it had a Ikea dresser for me to put my clothes in and she told me to get undressed and go under the table and then afterwards asked if I wanted to do the salt scrub first or after. I asked her what she recommended l, and she said scrub first so she left the room and I got under the massage table and she came back with a bathrobe. We went into the scrub room which was fine although my arms didn't seem to fit quite right in the scrub tub. It it felt like she was just washing my body with soap. I didn't really feeling any exfoliation so I asked her what kind of exfoliation she was using and she said it was apricot scrub. I told her I thought she would be using gloves and she kindly went and got some for me. She said many people don't like it's so rough, but I would have been like to been asked. I get scrubs a lot and I've never had one like this before. I asked to use the bathroom on the way back to the massage table and once I got on the table I glanced at the clock and she left me in there for 10 whole minutes before starting the massage or checking in on me. And when she did start massaging me she just quickly started massaging me in quick and almost like she was irritated. She asked about the pressure but that wasn't really the problem. I knew she couldn't do very deep work with her small hands. She did lots of effleurage Strokes that were very surface and seem to be just rubbing oil into me. I think that would have been okay if it had felt more comforting or tender instead of like she couldn't wait to be done. At the end I felt worse than when I started and kind of wanted to go get a drink I still gave her a over 20% tip just because I felt sorry for her. read more

I purchased a groupon for a 60 minute massage with a salt scrub. Maybe that's why I got terrible service. To start, the place is really difficult to find so I would recommend showing up 10-15 min early so you don't lose any time on your massage. If you look straight on at the post office the place will be on the left next to the wired fence. As I walked in no one was at the front desk and nobody came out for about 30 seconds to a minute even though the chimes on the door are incredibly loud (very distracting during the massage). This Asian woman came out (I didn't get her name) and just looked at me. No welcome, no greeting, no "how can I help you". So I just said I have a 60 minute massage at noon. She looked at me and told me to follow her into a massage room. Once I got into the room she walked out and closed the door with no direction. I was like "so do I take off my clothes now? Is she coming back? Is she going to walk in on me?" I literally had no idea what was going on. I undressed and decided to get under the sheet since she was gone for awhile and then I got so mad when I figured out the same woman was my masseuse. She did a very mediocre job on messaging me. She only spent like 1 minute on each foot and did not work out any knots in my back. She would rub over it, feel the knot, then move away from it. And my massage was ended 5 minutes early! Hidden Gem!!! Literally. I have lived in the area all my life and never knew this place was here. Better late than never. I just started going back to the gym, and overdid myself completely, be that my whole body was sore, i could barely walk the next day, so looked up the closest place my work. I found them on Yelp. Was able to make an appointment the same day after I got off. They are tucked away behind the Post Office, but the friendly manager was very helpful with directions. When I arrived the environment was clean, tranquil , and elegant. It felt very relaxing. I was greeted right away with friendly staff as they were waiting for me. Tiffany was superb!!! She hit every major muscle and then some I didn't even realize were sore. Will definitely ask for her again. The offered back walking and hot stones and other options too. Had an appointment for a couples massage on Valentine's Day that I was able to make the night before they closed (thankful for). *Ive had plenty of massages and this is not a comparison to prior experiences, I walk into every establishment with a fresh, positive perspective* Location: difficult to find, but the receptionist texted me the directions prior to our appointment. However it's location and building isn't great for a place of "Zen". They have upstairs neighbors and the noise is uncontrollable; stomping, doors shutting and such, so if you want a place to fully relax, this wouldn't be the place. Reception: walking in, the decor didn't scream spa. It looked like someone's living room. But still didn't let this effect my overall perception. Massage/room: was cute, they had candles lit (maybe because it was Valentine's Day). There was a closet to put your clothes which was nice. Relaxing music at perfect volume. The massage table my bf was on was the one they should have throughout the spa, it was plush and the headrest was adjustable. However, my table was the cheaper one that is portable, the headrest was nonadjustable, and it squeaked and moved with every move (which wasn't pleasant since I wasn't able to relax). The massage wasn't great and wasn't terrible. Her pressure and strokes were on point. Since there was another masseuse, there was chatter between the two (which in my massage handbook is a big no no lol). Don't know if I'm just anal or not but hardwood floors are annoying when getting a massage. Oh well. The total was $110, mediocre. She gave us a Valentine's Day balloon, nice gesture. Whatever. Tony was absolutely amazing. I get massages often because I have chronic knots and stiffness in my shoulders, so I wanted a massage that would break down the knots that bother me constantly. She texted me the exact directions because it is tucked in a corner next to the post office. I appreciated this because I can see how the location could be confusing upon my arrival. I found Zen day spa through friend's referral and I was incredibly impressed with the massage. Technicians are Professional, front desk is friendly, and environment is clean and the overall atmosphere is quiet and relaxing. My boyfriend and I needed a massage from our last Saturday hiking trip,especially for my feet. I booked couples massage for both of us which is a 90 minutes one (including a one-hour massage and an half-hour reflexology) I have tired reflexology many times in different places in South Bay but no one was as good as the masseurs in here. He was very experienced, and detailed in each square inch and calves, applying pressure may hurt a little but it was all in an acceptable level. It was a great foot massage and I could feel immediate differences right the way. As for my one hour body session with Tony, I asked him to spend more time on my back and he did. he spent majority of the time on my shoulder and the lower back. I told him about my problem area in my lower left and he did pay special attention to it and tried hard to help me loosen up the tight muscle. First of all, it is very difficult to find as it's in an industrial complex and no signs directing you where to go. I told them that I hadn't been there before but that I wanted a lot of pressure applied dyring the massage. The woman that gave me my massage did not apply enough pressure and at one point left the room without a word. After a few minutes had passed I got up and got dressed. She came back just as I was putting my top on and stood there with the door open and me half dressed so anyone walking by would see. Through some discussion she said she wasn't done. Atbthat point, I was dressed and already over it. The stress that should have been relieved wasn't. Date Day (10/25/16). The husband and I scheduled massages at Zen Day Spa since we were going to be in San Ramon to meet a friend for lunch. Thanks to other yelpers we did not have trouble finding Zen Day Spa at all. Parking was okay but it can get full quickly since there are not a lot of spaces. Their sign posted says they open at 9 and our appointment was at 10:30, but the first person arrived about 10:15. We were already sitting outside in the parking lot at that time. We checked in and the lady shuttled us into our rooms. My room was near the front and was extremely noisy. I asked about the noise and was told it was the heater. It did eventually turn off mid massage but it was very loud and distracting. The elephants aka the suite above Zen Day Spa with their whomper stompers upstairs were also very loud. Thank goodness that only lasted a little bit. My husband did not fair so well. His masseuse was late. Really late. Apparently she hit traffic, so when she finally arrived she was rushed to do his massage. She did give him the full hour massage but he did say it felt rushed. We both agreed they were good massages for $55/hour each although the yelp check in is $100 for 2 massages. The lady at the front desk (possibly the owner?) was very nice and the place looked clean.
