The scallops were delicious and the rest of the food was decent. They had a long wait for over an hour for our food and my food was cold... I didn't want to wait another hour for my entree, so I ate my food. I imagine we must have came on an understaffed night, as I had heard many good things about this restaurant from others.

Decided to eat here before a comedy show at the zeitgeist theater and had some mixed feelings. The Good: -Ambiance: The restaurant feels modern and the venue itself is a fun maze to explore. Great for a date night! -Events: They have a variety of fun events here that are worth checking out! -Root cellar cocktail: This was my favorite cocktail that I tried in Duluth. Fruity/earthy upfront with cardamom and rosemary in the back. Really fun drink! -Service: Service was courteous, attentive, and pleasant. The Bad: -Prices were extremely high considering the presentation, quality/flavor, and portion size of the food. If you're made of money and don't really care about spending $76 on dinner then maybe ignore this comment. But if value really matters to you, this is not the place to go. -Vegan scallops. The scallops were good and I liked the edamame puree but I didn't think the flavor or portion size was impressive enough to warrant $15. People have been raving about this item. Maybe it would be impressive for those brand new to vegan food and plant forward eating, but it wasn't that impressive to me. -Curry bowl with tofu. We received 5 pieces of tofu... for an extra $5. The presentation and quantity of rice and vegetables given was lacking considering this entree was a whopping $22. The flavor was good but nothing I haven't had before. Overall, I'd say to go to Zeitgeist for the events and drinks but skip the food. I think there's better value food in town.

    Vegan scallops!!!

It's been a while since we have managed to get to Zeitgeist, and they really knocked it out of the park this trip! We had a vegan with us, so we all wanted to try the seared vegan scallops. Holy moly, they were AMAZING. I really didn't expect much, but if I had been blindfolded, I literally would've thought I was eating seared sea scallops. They were made out of mushrooms, but they didn't taste like mushrooms. They were some type of vegan wizardry. I hope they put them on the menu permanently! My husband and I got the sea bass, which was also delicious, but I can't stop thinking about those vegan scallops. Which is why there are three photos of them below, and none of the sea bass. The cocktails were also stellar, very inventive and very delicious. Service was great too. You honestly can't go wrong at Zeitgeist.

This place has delicious food and drinks. The reason for only five stars is the ambiance is lacking. Sort of a cafeteria vibe with fancy restaurant food/prices.

I have Celiac's and we went here for dinner. All of our food was amazing and I was very happy with so many GF choices, including the house soups. Highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious! This is our first stop visiting from New York city and we are impressed by the food! Service is great which is a huge plus. I will miss smoke trout once I leave Minnesota!

I've traveled to Duluth a couple of times for work over the past several months and I always make it a point to come back here for a meal. The coconut curry rice bowl is an absolute masterpiece! I've tried it with both the chicken and the tofu. It's the perfect amount of coconut and curry and the veggies are so fresh. The chicken was tender and the tofu was grilled perfectly. Def recommend taking advantage of the thai chili sauce it comes with for the perfect addition of spice and heat. I've gotten a side salad each time with different vinaigrette's and dressings. You can't go wrong with any of them. For being a side salad, the portion was generous and all of the veggies were perfectly crisp and fresh. Lunch wasn't too crowded (not sure if that's due to the construction) but it's always been pretty busy at dinner! If you're in Duluth for work or fun, this is a definite must-have!

Had a wonderful dinner last night before seeing Annie. We had the mussels and fries for our apps. The mussels were awesome and the bread was a bonus for getting all the yummy juices at the bottom. I had a cocktail off there list that was very good followed by a beer. They were out of several IPAs. My wife and daughter both had non-alcoholic drinks for $6 each, but they both loved them. We then had the burger, grilled cheese, and open face chicken sandwich and they were all very good. Also had very good service. They do have a new tipping policy that automatically includes 20% but we got very good service.

The service is very good. The food is ok but not worth the cost. If you want "Hoity toity", this is your place.

Moreover, I hope the denizens of the Duluth area support this establishment because, as much as I enjoy OMC, Grandma's Canal Park Brewing, this kind of restaurant is needed here. The impetus for the above statement revolves around the absence of chef-driven and curated menus that capitalize on locality, creativity, and seasonality. This restaurant is located just on the other side of I-35. Smack-dab on Superior Street, next to North Shore Tattoo. Entering the establishment, you will see a simple and modestly adorned restaurant that is warm, inviting, and adequately lit. The menu is seasonal and robust with wonderful creations. Think of this as a Mediterranean tapas restaurant with a couple of larger entree-sized sharables. Everything we had was an incredible experience of contrasting flavours and textures. Here is what we had 1. Trio of Dips: You should get this so you don't miss out on the experience of each of these. It is hard to pick a favorite, but the Red Pepper Walnut was incredible. The citrus compote livened up this. The Labneh was quite lovely. More moisture should have been removed, but the selection of herbs atop of the labneh made this pop. The hummus was enjoyable, and had a thicker consistency than I usually have, but it was pretty good. 2. Seared Halloumi - Who doesn't like fried cheese?? The ouzo onions were a terrific addition. Get this one for sure. The hummus was enjoyable, and had a thicker consistency than I usually have, but it was pretty good. 3. Pickled and Stuffed Chard - This was a fun twist on dolmades, and I enjoyed this one. I considered this my salad/vegetable intake for the day :) 4. Braised Rabbit - This was the only disappointment of the whole evening. The leg was flavorful, but it was sooo dry, and I regret not getting the pork. The table next to us got the port, and I was jealous. 5. (Desert )Olive Oil Cake - I was full at this point, but ordered it anyway. It was awesome. You've come this far, order it and thank me later. I really hope the folks of Duluth appreciate this gem in your city, and please support this restaurant.

We started out with a Martini for my wife and a Coconut Mojito for myself, only because I don't see them on the menu in the Midwest that much and haven't had one since our last vacation in Puerto Rico. The Martini was decent, but the wife wasn't feelin it so she changed to a Cosmo, which was decent as well - more for me! The mojito was good as well, but as you can see in the pic, could have used a little more coconut cream.. Started with the stuffed tater tots, which were ok, but made me wish I got the Ahi tuna crisps.. She ordered the Hellapeno burger medium rare, which was medium and again... was ok. I ordered the Short Rib burger which is supposed to be rib meat, brisket, and burger - also at medium rare. Mine was cooked perfect, but had zero rib/brisket flavor and was quite thin for that kind of burger. Pretty disappointing considering the description. There are enough things on the menu that would make me stop in again and try something else, was just hoping it would be better.
