I've had a mixed experience with ZED, some really good and some very bad. The worst being their installation of a plug for an EV Charger. They installed the plug 3 years ago. Their warranty on workmanship is 1 year. I woke up to a burning smell in my garage as the plug for the EV Charger had melted. Luckily a fire did not result from this bad wiring. After having another company look at it, I was informed that a 40-amp wiring was installed in a 50-amp outlet and that an improper Eaton breaker was installed in a Siemens main service. I informed ZED of this situation (as I paid them about $1535 for this job). They told me that their warranty is only for 1 year. Wow...and my garage could have burned down. So, I'm not going to even bother telling them that the plugs they installed in my bathroom are no longer functional. I can provide them some grace due to the evolving nature of the EV technology...but the realization of the wiring and breaker was truly scary, and it cost me almost double to properly install a new plug with another company. So...I don't know...do more research and go elsewhere would be my recommendation. read more

Simply go to ZED Electric and ask for Jesus 209 for all your electrical needs. Asked our super reliable home inspection for an electrician and he recommended ZED Electric. They sent us Jesus 209 and he was absolutely amazing. We needed a new electric subpanel, and weren't sure about a few other items, technical-wise and budget-wise. Jesus managed to give us professional suggestions on what could be done and what could wait, which was extremely helpful. He was experienced and professional, productive and highly efficient. He finished some of the items under less than half of the estimated time, which saved us hundreds. He was also super skillful and considerate and managed to leave us minimum drywall work after installing a new outlet. He also patched the openings so all drywall left would just be panting and texturing. Beyond that Jesus was also a super nice guy. He put on shoe covers every time he reentered the place, and also laid protection over the carpeted area where he did the electrical work. I requested an electrician to replace 4 triple tube fluorescent bulb fixtures since they've been failing throughout my building. The young man examined the fixtures and told me he could go to Home Depot, buy the replacements, and be back to install shortly. It took him about 2 hours to finish. Tony came out to service what I thought was a faulty breaker switch but found out that there was a short in my house from where the original electricians made the split. Through pure intuition Tony not only found the split hidden in an outlet (that we didn't know existed) inside our heater closet but, discovered that the wires and encasing was burned through. Are you kidding me? I haven't reviewed Zed Electric? Shame on me. I started working for my company as the Office Manager some 9 years ago. This means that I became responsible for all of the vendors that it takes to run a building. This included janitorial, landscaping, filtered water, office supplies, plumbing, maintenance, etc. I also became responsible for making sure the building was compliant and safe. Well, I fired and replaced all of them because they were too costly or just didn't adequately do the work. Except Zed Electric. The company had already been working with Zed when I got here and I have found no reason to replace them. They respond quickly to my requests for quotes and even though my internal policy requires me to get two other quotes from two other companies, Zed always get the job. When compare the price, which is not only competitive but reasonable, to the quality of the work on the many projects I have had them do over the years..... shhhhhh. I've gotten lower bids but I always choose Zed because I know it will only have to be done once. I chose the lowest bid once and, well, Zed had to fix it. Meaning I had to pay twice. I don't even have to ask if the job they are doing is up to code. As a matter of fact, I choose Zed because I want to make sure that it is. I just don't need the headache. Outside of the quality and safety compliance of their work, the fact that no job is too big or too small for them is priceless. I have had them to replace all of my high ceiling lighting with more economical options to putting in a dimmer switch to installing a smoke detector for my elevator. They do all jobs with the same level of professionalism. This includes looking the part. All of the electricians I have had in my buildings, yes, I have moved locations and still use Zed in my second location, have always looked professional. Not suit and tie professional, but their shirts are always clean and tucked when the get here. Not always after they leave though. Lol. read more

We hired Zed to fix multiple electrical issues in our new house and to install outlets and some outdoor lighting (light strip over our garage) and two gate lights. We scheduled for an estimate where Matt came over for a pandemic safe in-house estimate. Matt said he had been an electrician for over 20-30 years and now only does estimates, but his previous experience really informed him on the scope and cost of work. We had things we had to fix and then a few wish list items, and Zed kindly broke down line by line how much each thing would cost. We did most of the items on the list, and did some of it ourselves. Chris came over and installed everything to perfection over about 3 days (this was a bigger job). Zed Electric is very very expensive. Zed electric charged $240 an hour. We had plugs that didn't work in one room. For an hour the guy looked around the one room opening different plugs but couldn't find the GFI. Finally he went into the breaker and realized that there was a GFI somewhere in that room. I had to go and help him find it. Otherwise he would have charged another hour. After an hour and 15 min, at my suggestion he had no choice but look where I thought the GFI was and there it was. He told us we had to change the GFI because once they start tripping they are a goner. So it cost us $300 labor for a$25 part. Crazy expensive. read more

When I requested a quote they asked for a copy of the inspection report that I had done for my new place and I sent it over. They sent me a quote that was much lower than what I had been quoted elsewhere. I asked if they needed to see the space in person to give a firm estimate they said no. I didn't want to get the work done right away so about 6 months later I emailed back to have them come out and they called me within minutes of sending the email. We had a switch that had stopped working, and we noticed melted plastic inside, so we were kind of freaked out about potential fire hazard. We called Zed Electric for a second opinion. The first (not Zed) electrician said we needed to rewire the whole front of our house, at a cost of $4000. The electrician from Zed said we needed a new switch, and the reason for the problem was simply that the switch had been installed backwards. Cost? $180. Our job required some extensive "surgery" into the plaster in several areas of our 1931 house. They did some patching, and when they were finished, there was very little prep for us to do before we repaint. Kevin came by today to handle a dropped neutral connected to the garbage disposal, and two recessed lighting cans where the socket had become loose. He was fast, friendly and came in under the estimate. Being a resident of OB, I was looking for someone local, and they didn't disappoint. Definitely my first call next time I've got some electrical work to do. My *only* complaint is that although they accept credit cards, they don't use Square or any mobile payment solution, so the tech ends up writing your credit card number on the receipt for later processing.
