I've had a mixed experience with ZED, some really good and some very bad. The worst being their installation of a plug for an EV Charger. They installed the plug 3 years ago. Their warranty on workmanship is 1 year. I woke up to a burning smell in my garage as the plug for the EV Charger had melted. Luckily a fire did not result from this bad wiring. After having another company look at it, I was informed that a 40-amp wiring was installed in a 50-amp outlet and that an improper Eaton breaker was installed in a Siemens main service. I informed ZED of this situation (as I paid them about $1535 for this job). They told me that their warranty is only for 1 year. Wow...and my garage could have burned down. So, I'm not going to even bother telling them that the plugs they installed in my bathroom are no longer functional. I can provide them some grace due to the evolving nature of the EV technology...but the realization of the wiring and breaker was truly scary, and it cost me almost double to properly install a new plug with another company. So...I don't know...do more research and go elsewhere would be my recommendation. read more

These guys are phenomenal. Matt helped us with estimate, which was very fair and sensible for a high-quality job. Richard and Kevin were excellent in getting the job done. They helped me install an EV station and made it look so effortless. Tara is very responsive in returning your inquiry and questions whenever you reach out. This whole team is amazing. I can't recommend them enough. Look no further, just give them a call! read more

Simply go to ZED Electric and ask for Jesus 209 for all your electrical needs. Asked our super reliable home inspection for an electrician and he recommended ZED Electric. They sent us Jesus 209 and he was absolutely amazing. We needed a new electric subpanel, and weren't sure about a few other items, technical-wise and budget-wise. Jesus managed to give us professional suggestions on what could be done and what could wait, which was extremely helpful. He was experienced and professional, productive and highly efficient. He finished some of the items under less than half of the estimated time, which saved us hundreds. He was also super skillful and considerate and managed to leave us minimum drywall work after installing a new outlet. He also patched the openings so all drywall left would just be panting and texturing. Beyond that Jesus was also a super nice guy. He put on shoe covers every time he reentered the place, and also laid protection over the carpeted area where he did the electrical work. Definitely coming back to him for all future electrical needs. read more

ZED Electric - In progress - Electricians Near Me - San Diego, California

At $295 (almost $300) to be told they can't work on the lighting control system is very excessive. Especially since they cant refer me to anyo e who can. This company is almost double what other electrical companies charge. read more

Our property insurance company required us to replace our 55 year old Zinsco subpanels with modern units. Based on fine work they did for us on another property, we hired ZED Electric to do the job at our apartment complex. I could not be happier with their work. They gave me an attractive estimate, responded quickly to questions, kept me informed of progress on drawings and the permit, and of 'cut-over' status with SDG&E. The quality of their work is excellent: well-laid out, neat and orderly, timely. They have also done two small jobs for us at our apartment complex, and their techs are first rate. Most highly recommended! read more

These guys did a great job installing my EV charger. They gave me a quote less than half of their competitor and we're honest right out of the gates. Highly recommend. read more

I requested an electrician to replace 4 triple tube fluorescent bulb fixtures since they've been failing throughout my building. The young man examined the fixtures and told me he could go to Home Depot, buy the replacements, and be back to install shortly. It took him about 2 hours to finish. He made sure to clean the areas afterwards. Very professional, very knowledgeable, and pleasant young man. I will definitely call ZED Electric when I need any future electrical repairs. read more

The people at Zed Electric saved me, my project and my budget for the third time. I'm a senior DIYer and been upgrading my home. They fixed my connection to the power pole when unforeseen conditions added to my cost for solar and gave me a great price I could afford. Then, installed power to my hot tub 50 feet away again at a very reasonable price. Most recently, they ran power to my ADU and checked the inside wiring I did myself and fixed a few things giving me suggestions where I could make it better. I cannot say enough to describe just how decent of a company Zed is. In a time where everything is ridiculously expensive and everybody wants to make a profit by gouging you, Zed has maintained their quality and dedication to their customers. They are kind, knowledgeable, honest, fast and nothing less than a class act. Thank you Zed Electric. I'm so grateful for you! read more

Dave came and assessed the problem within minutes. He had the replacement part and did great work...kind and courteous. 5 stars for Zed.

I'm appreciative of how timely and efficiently the work gets done. I've used Zed electric numerous times over the years. Thank you!

Very good electrical service company - reliable, on time, good availability, excellent work, polite workers and reasonable prices.

Zed Electric was above and beyond outstanding. We had a circuit breaker issue which continuously tripped the power to the entire house. Within 1 hour after calling Zed electric, the tech (Shawn), was at the house and worked to resolve the issue. Shawn was professional, knowledgeable and compassionate to our issue. I would highly recommend Zed Electric and will utilize their services for future projects Thank you Zed Electric for having such a wonderful staff read more

Zed Electric is a highly reliable resource in San Diego. We recommend them to the Landlords and Home Sellers we service. Their prices tend to be a bit higher. We are fine with that. You get what you pay for. We also use Zed to repair/upgrade our personal residences and investment properties. Personally, an electrician installed our outdoor TV. My kids use it frequently and I'm delighted to have them outside playing in the sunshine instead of sitting inside watching TV. Cheers, Colleen www.mySanDiegoAgent.com read more

Are you kidding me? I haven't reviewed Zed Electric? Shame on me. I started working for my company as the Office Manager some 9 years ago. This means that I became responsible for all of the vendors that it takes to run a building. This included janitorial, landscaping, filtered water, office supplies, plumbing, maintenance, etc. I also became responsible for making sure the building was compliant and safe. Well, I fired and replaced all of them because they were too costly or just didn't adequately do the work. Except Zed Electric. The company had already been working with Zed when I got here and I have found no reason to replace them. They respond quickly to my requests for quotes and even though my internal policy requires me to get two other quotes from two other companies, Zed always get the job. When compare the price, which is not only competitive but reasonable, to the quality of the work on the many projects I have had them do over the years..... shhhhhh. I've gotten lower bids but I always choose Zed because I know it will only have to be done once. I chose the lowest bid once and, well, Zed had to fix it. Meaning I had to pay twice. I don't even have to ask if the job they are doing is up to code. As a matter of fact, I choose Zed because I want to make sure that it is. I just don't need the headache. Outside of the quality and safety compliance of their work, the fact that no job is too big or too small for them is priceless. I have had them to replace all of my high ceiling lighting with more economical options to putting in a dimmer switch to installing a smoke detector for my elevator. They do all jobs with the same level of professionalism. This includes looking the part. All of the electricians I have had in my buildings, yes, I have moved locations and still use Zed in my second location, have always looked professional. Not suit and tie professional, but their shirts are always clean and tucked when the get here. Not always after they leave though. Lol. read more

Zed Electric has made a customer for life with me and my family. Tony came out to service what I thought was a faulty breaker switch but found out that there was a short in my house from where the original electricians made the split. Through pure intuition Tony not only found the split hidden in an outlet (that we didn't know existed) inside our heater closet but, discovered that the wires and encasing was burned through. Literally saved our house from burning down if we kept trying to reset our circuit breaker. Tony fixed everything and honestly probably saved our home and our lives and we are forever grateful. read more

4.900 stars. Another great find from Yelp. We hired Zed to fix multiple electrical issues in our new house and to install outlets and some outdoor lighting (light strip over our garage) and two gate lights. We scheduled for an estimate where Matt came over for a pandemic safe in-house estimate. Matt said he had been an electrician for over 20-30 years and now only does estimates, but his previous experience really informed him on the scope and cost of work. We had things we had to fix and then a few wish list items, and Zed kindly broke down line by line how much each thing would cost. We did most of the items on the list, and did some of it ourselves. Chris came over and installed everything to perfection over about 3 days (this was a bigger job). We are so happy with the quality of service we received here and will call them up should any electrical issues arise. read more

Finally getting to write a review for Zed electric. Very happy with their services and accommodating what was needed in our home. Have been using them over 20 years and am thankful to have trustworthy electricians at their company. Will be having them back to do more work as our schedule allows. I also am thankful for their quick response times. read more

Zed Electric is very very expensive. Zed electric charged $240 an hour. We had plugs that didn't work in one room. For an hour the guy looked around the one room opening different plugs but couldn't find the GFI. Finally he went into the breaker and realized that there was a GFI somewhere in that room. I had to go and help him find it. Otherwise he would have charged another hour. After an hour and 15 min, at my suggestion he had no choice but look where I thought the GFI was and there it was. He told us we had to change the GFI because once they start tripping they are a goner. So it cost us $300 labor for a$25 part. Crazy expensive. read more

Zed was referred to me by my Realtor and I could not have been happier. The professionalism and level of customer service could not have been better. I searched for a while to find a trustworthy electrician to perform the work I needed done. When I requested a quote they asked for a copy of the inspection report that I had done for my new place and I sent it over. They sent me a quote that was much lower than what I had been quoted elsewhere. I asked if they needed to see the space in person to give a firm estimate they said no. I didn't want to get the work done right away so about 6 months later I emailed back to have them come out and they called me within minutes of sending the email. They scheduled me in right away and Carlos did an amazing job. He was very kind and knowledgeable. It ended up being a bigger job than anticipated but the quote never changed. I would highly recommend them. THANK YOU! read more

Zed was referred to me by a good friend. I worked with Matt and David and had a great experience. Very detailed, very professional and personable. David went above and beyond to make sure the new recessed lighting matches the ones I currently have at the house. Customer service at the office was a pleasure to work with as well. Highly recommend them. Thank you for your help. read more

Zed Electric was professional, knowledgeable, prompt, organized and fairly priced. We wanted a 30 amp line brought through our attic for an induction cooktop. Zed was one of six companies giving us quotes. The range of prices and professionalism was astounding. Zed was a clear stand out from the rest. Their estimator and electricians anticipated issues we hadn't considered and others hadn't noticed, for example getting a 40 amp line wasn'tmuch more and allowed any cooktop to be used in the future. Before the electricians started the work, they reviewed the full plan and asked questions to be sure we were in agreement on the scope - very professional. They were on time to appointments and kept the work site clean when they left. The whole experience reassured us we made the right choice picking them. read more

We had a switch that had stopped working, and we noticed melted plastic inside, so we were kind of freaked out about potential fire hazard. We called Zed Electric for a second opinion. The first (not Zed) electrician said we needed to rewire the whole front of our house, at a cost of $4000. The electrician from Zed said we needed a new switch, and the reason for the problem was simply that the switch had been installed backwards. Cost? $180. Thank you, Zed Electric, for being honest, and saving us $3820. read more

Zed Electric has done a lot of excellent work in our home, installing extra power outlets & circuits at several locations, replacing light fixtures, and the very large job of replacing the entire electrical panel. They're also very good about cleanup and communication, and are very helpful with info over the phone.. They were incredibly helpful when we had an 18-hour window to get some switching changed, sending a technician the same afternoon, who got the job done with time to spare. I've found everyone at Zed Electric, from the office to the estimator to the electricians, to be unfailingly helpful & courteous. I also appreciate that they will send fully vaxed electricians on request, & highly recommend their excellent quality work. read more

ZED Electric was highly recommended to us by other industry professionals and they did not disappoint. The quality of their work and level of service was truly professional. We had several electrical updates to conduct in our home, including installation and wiring for an EV charger. They conducted a thorough assessment and gave us a very reasonable estimate for the work. When the technicians arrived (Travis and Sean), it was clear they were subject matter experts, well trained, polite and highly professional. They completed the work on time and within the estimate we had been given (i.e. there were no surprises). The quality of the work, attention to detail, and the fact that they guarantee their work has earned our trust and our business, and we would highly recommend them to anyone who needs quality electrical services. read more

We have a house built in the 40's with antiquated electrical. We've needed to have an electrician out 3 times in the past 6 months. We've had three different electricians from Zed come out each time. Each one has been extremely professional and efficient. They were able to resolve the issues correctly and relatively quickly. They have been on time and diagnosed the issue correctly. David came right out with an estimate. Work was done on date we requested. Polite, careful and competent workmen. Our job required some extensive "surgery" into the plaster in several areas of our 1931 house. They did some patching, and when they were finished, there was very little prep for us to do before we repaint. They cleaned up a wild unsightly jumble of outdated wires near our breaker, which is now all neat and tidy. read more

First time customer today, and I'm so pleased. I took advantage of their call board in case they had an earlier appointment for me, and sure enough, they got me in sooner than my appointment. Kevin came by today to handle a dropped neutral connected to the garbage disposal, and two recessed lighting cans where the socket had become loose. He was fast, friendly and came in under the estimate. Being a resident of OB, I was looking for someone local, and they didn't disappoint. Definitely my first call next time I've got some electrical work to do. My *only* complaint is that although they accept credit cards, they don't use Square or any mobile payment solution, so the tech ends up writing your credit card number on the receipt for later processing. That seems weird in 2017, and if that info gets misplaced, could be problematic - but next time I'll just have cash available. read more
