Service Pro Electrical made replacing our old pendant light and sconces a breeze. I used Yelp to contact a number of different electricians to get a quote. Although their quote was not the lowest, I ultimately decided to go with them because of their prompt communication, the Yelp guarantee on their work and because I was easily able to verify their license from their website. I reached out and confirmed the work on a Tuesday and they were able to have me scheduled for a visit on Thursday. Two electricians came out for the job and they got it done in less than an hour. They were very personable and kind. They removed my large pendant light and two wall sconces and replaced them. Because height of the new pendant light needed to be considered, they helped me think through the placement and made adjustments based on my preferences. The new lights look great and we love our space. My only regret is not doing something like this sooner! The total cost for the work was around $400. I would definitely hire them again for future work. They mentioned having a minimum call out charge of $199 so it's great to consider thinking about all of the different work you want to have done at once if you're planning for aesthetic changes. A+ experience with Michael Martin (Mike) and his entire Service Pro Electrical (SPE) team (including Michael B., Jeff, and Brock). I think it is fair to say that from start to finish this was our best experience ever with a contractor, and we have hired 25-30 since moving into our circa-1972 house about 10 years ago. Several aspects of our interaction with Mike stood out compared to other contractors: professionalism, exceptional communication from start to finish, and outstanding value (quality relative to price). We also really appreciated that Mike was actively involved in performing much of the work and was physically present for most of the project. Many other owners or salespeople promise to be on-site but usually disappear after a brief visit. Mike rolled up his sleeves, worked smoothly with his team, treated them as respected colleagues, and made sure the final result was a win for us. Mike also deserves a major shout-out for the quality and timeliness of his email, text, and phone communication throughout the project. He was efficient yet clear and thorough, and he always responded in a cordial, friendly, and positive manner. We tried to respect his time and not overdo the questions, but on a larger project issues inevitably come up, and he consistently answered to the best of his ability and helped us make informed decisions. We hired Mike/SPE to replace and upgrade an old 100A Zinsco electrical panel with a safer new 125A panel, improve some wiring and outlets, install an EV charger, add several other outlets, and run three long exterior circuits to our kitchen microwave and backyard outlets. We considered upgrading to a 200A panel, but because of the SDGE hand-off location relative to our house, that would have required extensive trenching into the street in our cul-de-sac and would have added greatly to the cost of the project. Mike, more clearly than the 6-7 other contractors we spoke with, helped us understand that for our current and likely future needs, a 125A panel should be more than sufficient, especially if we practice basic load management (e.g., not running the A/C at full blast while the microwave, EV charger, and multiple 20A circuits are all maxed out). He also handled communication with SDGE for permitting and inspections and helped us enroll in a new SDGE program that allowed us to install a gas pressure regulator for about $244. This kept us from having to relocate our gas meter, which is close to the electrical panel, and likely again saving us a lot of money. On the two days that Mike, Michael B., Jeff, and Brock were at our home, they were cordial, easy to talk with, and very willing to explain what they were doing and why. They asked for our input whenever something would affect our daily use of the house or its aesthetics. It was clear throughout that they were competent and professional. They also did a great job minimizing drywall damage and carefully repairing and painting stucco around the panel, as well as painting the exterior conduits. SPE's prices were not the lowest of the bids we received, but they were definitely not the highest either. The quality of the work and the level of communication are what truly set Mike and SPE apart. We give them our highest recommendation and fully intend to hire them again for future electrical projects. read more

We had Service Pro Electrical install our ChargePoint Home Flex hardwired EV charger. Other electricians told us that adding a subpanel or getting a 240V plug in an inconvenient area of our driveway with lower amps than the hardwired charger would be our only options. Michael M. came to look at our panel and said they could rewire our panel and install the hardwired charger without having to add a subpanel. He said they could install the charger in the preferred area of our driveway. They were much more reasonably priced than other electricians we got quotes from. They were able to do the work a week later, they were punctual, did great work, and cleaned up after the work was done. They were also kind enough to install a lockbox we had bought over the charger. I contacted Mike for an estimate on an electrical panel upgrade. We moved into a home that had an old 100 amp panel and I needed to put in a 200 amp panel for the EV and to get the home ready for solar. Mike was very responsive and sent me an estimate based on our conversation and photos I sent.
