It's a shame that Zoup! and Panera are in the same parking lot. The competition is going to be intense... Zoup! is essentially a smaller scale version of Panera, with the exception that Zoup! prides themselves on the vast array of homemade soup recipes. My first visit there was a very satisfying experience. Selecting a soup flavor is like choosing your favorite flavor of ice cream. The employees will give you "soup sample cups" where you can go ahead and try whatever you like. My favorite soup here is the lobster bisque, hands down. The quality of that soup is on par with the lobster bisque from Texas De Brazil! I was able to try the turkey sandwich there as well. The sandwiches are mediocre at best. I ended up dunking my sandwich into my soup for extra lobster bisque flavory goodness. The real treasure here is the amazing collection of delicious soups. Overall, if you are seeking a change from your typical Panera bread bowl, go give Zoup! a try. You will definitely not be disappointed. Placed an order with Grubhub for delivery as I am feeling under the weather. The food is fine but when one orders a choose 2, both items should be in the bag. I got my soups but am missing the sandwich. Not Grubhub's fault in any way, especially when the restaurant stapled the bag shut in three different places. It's not that hard to double check the bags before they're sealed or go out for delivery. Manager I spoke to stuttered his way through what may have been an apology? before telling me I'd need to contact Grubhub (which I was already going to do). It's no fault of the delivery person when there are items missing from a sealed bag. Keep a better eye on your employees and your orders. read more

I have wanted to come here and get some hearty, yummy soup. This lunch today was perfect on this cooler day! I looked at their website to get some ideas as what my Mom would like. They offered me a BOGO coupon which was good considering it was $8 for a bowl of soup! I got the Cheddar soup but I don't think I would get that again. It wasn't horrible just the flavor had too strong of whatever alcohol that was in it. Everyday they have 12 different soups to pick from. When I walked in I was quickly greeted by a very nice woman who explained their deal and insisted I try whatever soup I wanted. I tried the Cheddar soup but anything packed with cheese would most likely taste good. It was served with a nice chuck of fresh French bread. I guess they give you the choice of french or wheat. Next time I'll try something else. They have sandwiches, salads. But soup is definitely their main thing. Nice location, friendly staff, good selection of soups, not so good selection of beverages. Our main complaint was that in this day and age of restaurants sanitizing above and beyond due to COVID-19, this restaurant does not even wipe crumbs off the tables. It was difficult to find a table that was not dirty and then we made sure to sanitize it with our own Lysol wipes. In the couple of times we visited this location, we have never seen a worker come into the dining area to clean tables. read more

The good: Mac and cheese was delicious--rich and full of flavor. The meh: Fire Roasted Tomato Bisque was so full of sugar it was the first thing we tasted when we started eating it. Totally UNNECESSARY. And the Chicken Toscana sandwich was mostly bread. I'd go back for the Mac and Cheese again, but adding a lot of sugar to tomato soup is more a Campbells trick. James, one of the franchise owners, greets you with a warm smile. He proudly explains how food is ordered; how you can sample every soup; how the soups are changed daily. Well, I thought I would check out this place on my own despite the mixed reviews. We ordered the soup and sandwich combo. They were pretty tasty, but a few things about this place 1) the soup is only warm and not hot. 2) if you need a high chair, I only saw 2 of them for the entire restaurant and 1 booster seat. 3) the ordering process was bizarre that day. We are standing there waiting and waiting to order, but meanwhile there are 3 people behind the counter buzzing around. I must've had my invisible suit on that day or something. The overall restaurant was clean. I would try it again, but this was almost the same experience I had in the Aurora location. I just wanted something different than Panera Bread and is soon as I walked in everyone was so nice and I was offered so many samples without any like attitude it was great I was also offered a sample Of the sandwich I was going to buy but I declined because the soup was so good I have faith. I ordered the turkey bacon club without tomato and it was so good the bread was soft even after being warmed. I came in to try Zoup strictly because of the harsh review Matt W. gave a few days ago. I was laughing at the review and had to check it out to see if it was truly as bad as he stated in length. My experience was completely different. They were busy but there were a few spaces to sit. As far as him complaining about someones unruly children: how is that the fault of the establishment? Anyway, I sampled a few soups which the staff was happy to sample. I settled on the cheeseburger soup and the sourdough bread ( light lunch). It was perfect and hit the spot for a quick satisfying lunch at a fair price for the quality of the food. A return visit is in order when my appetite is larger for a sandwich and another bowl of great soup. I decided to stop here before heading over the the night at the firehouse event in Downers Grove. I was with my kiddo who is six. When I asked him what soup he wanted he said a cheese soup. But not broccoli cheese. I am happy to say they had several soups he would have liked but he got the potato cheddar soup. I got the chicken wild rice medley. We really enjoyed it. The soup was hot and yummy. The bread, we both had the multi grain, was perfect for dipping. I love that we can try the soup before we decide. With the changing palate of a six year old this a a great family friendly service. As for the previous reviews I didn't have to wait long. By the time I got our drinks and sat the kiddo down I was being called to pick up our dinner! So if you are looking for a quick meal and some delicious soup this place sure delivers. The food and customer service here is awesome! I was very excited when I found out it was going to be opening so close to my work. Tried it a couple days after opening and was a little disappointed with how little chicken and noodles I got in my soup. I figured they're new and probably really busy. Gave them a couple more tries and now I'm hooked! A big reason is Tresh, we usually order online and bring it back to work. Before my friend had come back with the food, Tresh had called to inform me that there was a mistake. She went above and beyond to make sure I had a great experience. So in this review...I'll just tell the story and observations... I'll let you decide if you think this sounds good. Read on...it's funny. I walked in on a Saturday, and the place is packed....I was excited. Maybe it's a really good food. There were barely any place to sit, and one table was being taken over by hooligan small children who were not being watched by their parents who were in line ordering...they were being monsters at a table for 2...one that they surely would not be using....They were playing with the salt shakers and ripping up the pop up table tent on the table, and getting their boogery hands all over everything. Then pushing through the line when the mom didn't realize they didn't have mac and cheese like they ordered. We get to the front of the line and they are asking every customer if they want to have a sample of soup. Oh that's nice. They must have plenty to go around if they are giving away soup! My wife and I order, she samples the lobster bisque, shakes her head "gross", and orders the broccoli cheddar. The manager is motioning to a girl from across the room to make soup, and she clearly doesn't understand what she's saying. We get to the front to order. I order soup and sandwich, and they are asking me what kind of bread I want it on. I have no idea, they have no listing of what kinds of breads they have. So I just say whatever it normally comes on. French..awesome. Then I pay, and am given my ticket, find a seat and wait. (We took the table where those snot nosed brats were once being terrible, as there were no other spaces) 10 minutes later, I'm called to the front. My order must finally be ready! Nope. "So, we are out of broccoli cheddar. What kind of soup do you want?" I say, "Umm, it was right there when I ordered it." "yeah, I know. We ran out from the time you ordered it till now." (Must have been all the samples!) Ok...so I walk back to my wife, and she says she'll have lobster bisque. I let them know...5 minutes later we sit there saying how ridiculous of a wait this is. Also, how expensive it is. For 2 of us, it was $26. More than Panera, and Panera is way better. (and like, in the same parking lot. What are they thinking??) We got the food 20 minutes after we ordered, and the bread bowl was super soggy, and the soup was like falling out. (the lobster bisque was said to be really watery), I had the French Onion, and it was so overpowering with onion flavor, I couldn't even finish half of it. Sandwich was ok, but again, not worth the price. We will definitely not be coming back. It was busy, but there was a lot of things going wrong. They must have key words and jargon that they are suppose to say in the kitchen area. It was hilarious because no one knew it yet. The manager kept yelling "Sandwich on the fly!. (pause. Everyone looks at her.) "ON THE FLY!" (pause. Confused looks) "ON THE FLY!" Someone else said "That means you make the sandwich right now." It was pretty hilarious. What a train wreck. read more

I went to Zoup for the first time last night. Though I believe the Manager was polite and cared it was not a great experience. It was not that busy but the food took forever. There was a large group of people waiting for their food. The employees seemed very confused and overwhelmed. I saw someone order carry out and come back in because the order was not correct. People next to me were visibly upset at the wait time. The manager said that he was sorry to everyone, they were having a bad night. I felt for him. I felt he was trying. The kicker for me was when the food did come the soup was luke warm and the bread on the sandwich seemed overcooked and hard. It was also freezing inside. It was cold outside and they must not have turned their heat on. Not a great first experience and will most likely not be back. read more
