Checked out this local sports bar and grill. Grill 89 is actually one of the classier happening restaurants in Westmont to be honest. It has more of a farther location to get to. A lot of the menu is what's expected. The rest is basic sports bar stuff. Basically there's a history about it. It's actually related to the Ditka's Steakhouses that used to be around more often. The number is from his jersey, so of course the bar has football and sports themes. It's about $13 for a cocktail. La Casa Margarita is their house one. This is made with agave, cold pressed lime, Goddard Orange, and Jose Cuervo Tradicional. It's about $6 for appetizers. The French Fries are basically the only one that's any good to be honest. Has a pretty classy yet casual atmosphere. It's located in the one plaza at Ogden. This is a great place for watching games or whatever. read more

Nice neighborhood feeling restaurant with a full sport bar up front and spacious booth seating areas toward the back. Overall very clean feeling. Service was attentive. Initially brought out the wrong beer, but he immediately corrected when I had mentioned the error. Food wise the kiddos shared the sliders and fries, no complaints. 89 burger was yummy. My husband and I just got finished with dinner at the bar (May 28th) 6pm. Mattie our server/bartender was wonderful. I also have to say the walleye was off the chart FANTASTIC! What a surprise for a sports bar! I could not believe it and I am super picky about fish. The blackened shrimp poke bowl was also WAY above average. We came in right after an 8th grade graduation ceremony, we actually had scheduled our reservation for a later time but when we got out early, we were concerned that we wouldn't be able to change our reservation time but the hostess was very accommodating and sat us right away. Our server Danny was on top of everything, he was patient and very attentive - thank you, Danny b/c at times it was not easy for me either! The food was great! Out of the 9 of us - no complaints! I had the the filet w/asparagus and mashed potatoes and my steak was cooked perfectly! It wasn't very busy which was very nice but it was a Wednesday so I can see it being crowded on the weekends, I like how they had a bar but had a somewhat separate dining area that seemed more family friendly. A nice and casual restaurant - as compared the Ditkas in Oak Brook/Chicago. Several TVs where you can watch the game but even a back room where you can escape it. We started with the house and caesar salad - great size for a side salad. I then go the cheesesteak sandwich and he got the Bang Bang Shrimp Bowl. I liked my sandwich and slaw and thought the giardiniara added just the right spice. The bowl was good - but needed a little more kick for my husband. Not quite as bang bang as he would have liked. My husband and I stopped for a late lunch/early dinner at Grill 89 it's been several years since we've been at this restaurant. We sat at the bar, which has become a habit when it's just the two of us. More often than not, we get into a conversation with the bartender. Today was no exception. Michael took great care of us, was friendly and engaging. We shared an order of the deviled eggs. It was whipped egg yolks with bacon on top of slices of avocado laying on a bed of shredded egg whites with radishes and tomatoes. The deviled eggs were yummy, but I preferred the old way they used to make them without the avocado. I had a tuna poke bowl that was so fresh - a generous amount of tuna with edamame, radishes, carrots, avocado and cilantro on brown rice. It was fabulous! My hubby loves the pot roast nachos at Grill 89. Huge portion. This restaurant is in Mike Ditka's group of restaurants and they're known for these nachos, sinfully good! Tab was $220 and I noticed a "Restaurant Fee" of a paltry $8.20, so I asked our server what it was. She offered no explanation but told me she would remove it. We had a nice brunch with family at Grill 89. Pleasant atmosphere, great, friendly service, tasty food. This is a great casual spot that I would expect is very reliable. Our family members said they go there often and always enjoy it. We tried: Ditka Bloody Mary (served with a chaser) - a nice Bloody Fish Tacos - nicely cooked, good Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich - very good, huge portion, good fries We had a wide range of ages including children and everyone enjoyed their visit. This is a neighborhood go-to in our area. Nestled in St. James Crossing with a bunch of other winning businesses, Grill 89 has a hot spot bar, a nice patio for summer days, and plenty of booths and tables for a more relaxing dine-in. Our favorite menu items include the Friday night fish and chips special. Seriously the best fried fish you've ever tasted! I've heard other people describe it that way too. They include stellar home made, creamy tartar sauce and gourmet slaw on the side. The chicken tenders are also amazing. Can't go to wrong with the chips and dip and wings apps. They make great cocktails too if you are just coming for drinks and nibbles. The Caesar salad could use some work. Just because you put Caesar dressing on some romaine and throw in croutons and shake on some Parmesan doesn't make a good enough salad to match the caliber of some of the other great menu items they have. I'd like to see them step this one up. read more

I have visited this restaurant more than once and have been disappointed with the bar service many times, but always gave the benefit of the doubt. I have been in customer myself for over 25 years and pride myself in serving the patrons who visit my store. The bartenders have ignored an empty glass for more than 15 minutes many times, I believe because it is happy hour and they want the time to go by so they can charge full price, a cosmo for $19.00, which I believe is expensive, you are not in the city. I will not revisit this restaurant and definitely not recommend. I am not one to do negative reviews, but felt taken advantage. read more

Not sure this place is all that friendly to disabled folks. There seemed to be a single table that was a "regular" table, seating folks at the standard level, but it was a table for ten. Almost every other table in the rest was a high top or booth seating where you need to step up to get into the booth (none of the booths were at "floor level"). There were maybe half a dozen tables that were typical table height and maybe four-tops, which I didn't see until I was leaving the restaurant. They aren't disabled-friendly given the types of seating they have and the fact that someone who came in with clear difficulty walking came in but they made him go to one of the furthest sections in the restaurant without asking if it would be easier or better to be seated elsewhere. And something I newly have to concern myself with, which is whether I can get a stroller in/have space for my daughter, who at two weeks is not going to be eating from the menu. I guess they have a mood they're trying to project, even at lunchtime, because it was so dark I struggled to see the menu. Not super happy when there server decided to move my very expensive stroller away from the table without asking or being asked to do so. Keeping your hands off people's things is a generally great rule of thumb under which to operate. And I get that servers are assigned sections and people are placed in servers' sections... but in a restaurant that had maybe five tables in use by diners, they really had to put someone in the booth directly behind us? We ordered the southern corn muffins which never came. Oh well; I'm sure I didn't need the additional food. The prices were pretty surprisingly high. I eyed the corned beef sandwich for my meal, but it was $22. They also had some "specials" because it was Tuesday like enchiladas, tacos, etc., but they definitely weren't special prices and again was overpriced. I ended up ordering their burger. I'm not sure why, but it didn't taste good. I don't know if it was me or them but it was just off for me. I checked the burger twice to see if it was cooked properly and it looked like it was comes to the temperature I'd ordered. I don't think it was bad or anything, but it wasn't enjoyable. It was a pretty disappointing meal and experience in pretty much every aspect. But you never know until you try, I guess. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant and I won't return. read more

We decided to try Grill 89 for my cousin's birthday. We made reservation because we've heard that it can get pretty crowded on Saturdays. First, I would like to say that our waitress Taylor was great!. She was attentive, friendly (helping us take a few pics of our entire party) and did not mess up on anything ordered. There were a couple of drinks ordered that was return because they were not made well. She had the best attitude and took care of us immediately. I really wanted to love the food, but it was only ok. It was typical American food. The presentation of everything ordered was really nice. The portions were average. I was surprised of the prices. They were very reasonable. A couple of things stood out though; the grilled wings (spicy, seasoned extremely well) and corn muffins were huge, 4 muffins - great flavor (had a little too much corn). We ordered 2 dishes of both. There were also several orders of strawberry lemonade. It was a hit too! The best dish was the crispy brussels sprouts appetizers. They were absolutely delicious!!! The atmosphere was nice. It wasn't noisy and we were able to hear each other speak without yelling. I like this place and would return; if only for the Brussels sprouts. read more

I have been to Grill 89 a handful of times and I like the variety of dishes that they offer. Besides the items from the regular menu, I have also tried a few dishes from this casual dining place of the Ditka's Restaurant Group. The last time I was here, we sat at the outdoor area which had the view of the strip mall parking lot. The indoor dining area place was always busy on my previous visits (pre Covid) but we would usually find spots at the bar area. Online reservations can be made through Resy or just scout for open seats at the bar, where guests can eat as well. These are the dishes that I have tried: JAMBALAYA- I ordered this from the Specials Menu. It was very satisfying and had great flavors. WOOD-GRILLED WINGS- this is my favorite appetizer to order here DELI-STYLE CORNED BEEF- the sandwich was as good as it looks in the picture BANG BANG SHRIMP PROTEIN BOWL- delicious and filling but I I would like a little more spice on the shrimp SMOKED BRISKET MELT- tender and tasty CALIFORNIA STYLE DEVILED EGGS- I'm not a big avocado fan but this was great COCONUT CREAM PIE- it had the right amount of sweetness. very good ORECCHIETTE- this had shrimp in white creamy sauce. It was a little bland POT ROAST NACHOS- the edges of the chips were burnt. Disappointing. SMOKEHOUSE 18 HOUR CERTIFIED ANGUS BEEF BRISKET - unfortunately, the meat was very dry 89 BURGER- this was just okay Overall, I liked most of the dishes that I have tried here and I've always appreciated good service from the whole team. Wonderful upscale bar and grill in Hinsdale. Came in around 7pm on a Saturday and the wait was 1 hour. We got the last two seats at the bar and had drinks and appetizers. The grilled wings (spicy, seasoned extremely well) and corn muffins (huge, 4 muffins - great flavor) were fabulous. Unfortunately after an hour we still were not seated so ended up eating at the bar. This was fine; the young lady that waited on us was wonderful, very friendly and attentive. I had the salmon salad - very good and my spouse had the crab cakes. Amazing! A must try! My friend and I went to Grill 89 for a birthday dinner. We both ordered the 4 oz. Twin Filet Mignons, asparagus and mashed potatoes. We both opted for a simple salad as well. Everything was excellent! The service was attentive but not intrusive. Our filets were perfectly cooked, the asparagus was cooked to tender but able to be eaten by hand and the mashed potatoes were good. We topped off dinner with dessert. My friend had the Chocolate Chip Cookie with their house made vanilla ice cream and I had the Apple Croustade with ice cream. I can't tell you how many times I have thought about the Apple Croustade. It was perfection. The pastry was crisp and warm with warm pieces of apples inside topped with their vanilla ice cream. Everything that we ordered had been prepared and served exactly at the correct temperature, very tasty and appealing to the eye. We will definitely be back. read more
