I found this place because it's literally on the bank of nature trails I was using! Small, quaint and bartender was very hospitable! I ordered a 10" deep dish pizza because I'm in Chicago and because I did 4 miles on the nature trail so I deserved it!!! Pizza came out hot and delicious as ordered and I would highly recommend it! I had heard that the York Tavern was serving Roberto's pizza, and that was a correct bit of information. I am a huge fan of Robertos, but do not like ordering it at their Elmhurst location as they seem to look down on you for asking for the "pizza menu" and then treat you as lower class. But this is the PERFECT ANSWER for me. A humble bar that has table seating available and has Roberto's delicious pizza. My wife and I have went multiple times and each time is better than the last. Pizza is top notch, the appetizers we have gotten have all been great. My only complaint has been the chili, which was not either my wifes or my cup of tea. I want to try some of the sandwiches or burgers they offer, but cannot stop myself from ordering the pizza! highly recommended. read more

Went there on a Saturday afternoon. It was busy but had a few tables and lots of space free at the bar. We sat at the bar and just waited... the staff didn't seem to really enjoy the work and were almost unhappy that more people were arriving. Place looked pretty dirty. We didn't stay. Came here for a bite to eat after an event at the humane society. We were immediately greeted after walking in and ordered a few drinks. We ordered a sausage pizza. The crust was a bit thicker than I'd like but it tasted great. Been to this place on many occasions and it is usually incredibly loud but this time it was not. The place is dirty and not enough hands to help clear, wipe, deliver food etc.... My son got sick from eating a burger there and the burgers are way overpriced. The servers work hard and don't have enough support staff. I was in the industry for years and this isn't a way to run a business. Maybe the owner should hire more help ! read more

York Tavern for the Halloween Pizza win! We order pizza every Halloween, 2 years ago Lou Malnati screwed us over. We ordered York this year for a perfect tasty hot tavern style pizza and crispy calamari. Two weeks ago they were the perfect choice for pick up after we did the Fullersburg Woods Halloween walk. I have to say that the pandemic has actually improved this establishment with the new take out window, the new outdoor patio and attached event tent. It's a popular place, they needed those things. As has always been, this is a super cool location right next to the woods and the mill. But the new adds take it to the next level while still preserving the original space. Keeping it historic without getting dusty. Also, it feels like the food quality has gone way up over the last decade, so they're doing great things there too. Their fried apps hold their crispiness for take out, so many places fail at this. Love the arugula salad, too! Fresh, simple, flavorful. read more

I Just wanted a good hamburger, really disappointed in the possibly frozen packaged unflavored patty that had no soul. The $16 price tag was too much. I expected much more for a local landmark restaurant with a very nice clientele. For the record I am visiting the area after many years in the restaurant business in San Francisco. I would hope that the locals would call out the manager/owner and request a better product. Wolfs Head had a much better burger, fresh ground beef used to make the patty. I used to eat lunch there about forty years ago!! A group of us from then went back and found it very different but still very good!!!! Our server thought it was great we had regrouped there after a long time. It was very welcoming. Others were eating not burgers which is what we always ate....thats all they served....and said the food was really good. We will meet there again for old times sake!! read more

Waited forever to get served, when the server finally came I put the order in for myself and my friend. Apparently the server did not like the way I said it. When the food came the burger was undercooked and there were no grilled onions as I had ordered. The server kept walking back and forth and not once asked how things were. I don't know what kind of crack many of the reviewers are smoking because this place is great! I've probably been to the York Tavern 10-15 times over the years and they never disappoint. Granted I only ever get the burger when I go because why mess with perfection? I got the burger tonight and it was so damn good. It was cooked perfectly, medium rare AF. I noticed a lot of people got pizza tonight and it looked super good. I doubt I'll ever get anything besides the burger though. Probably a top 10 burger in the book of Kevin. Food was pretty good and the blonde server was great. However while leaving the other one who was working (08/29/24 @6:30pm) was weird and like stepped up in my face as I was trying to leave. And of course it super crowded so it's not like sliding past is really an option unless she wanted me to rub against her? I love the location and the building. The actual restaurant space is pretty small for the amount of people and tables squeezed in, so the noise level was really high and it was at capacity, so very crowded. I was seated elbow to elbow with another table and a crew of 6-8 slightly drunk women at a table immediately behind me. Squished in. Large menu but I just needed a starter and Diet Coke after a hike through nearby Graue Mill. Unfortunately, nearly all starter options are fried. The mushrooms were ok. I regret not ordering a pizza- other tables did that and their pizzas looked really good. There was a photographer at the next table photographing a bunch of dishes so I got to see a lot of options. The burger looked massive and at $14 I suppose that's reasonable considering the size. There were a couple of vegetarian options. Large drink menu, just no hot cocoa or coffee, so if you are looking to warm up after a hike through Fullersburg or Graue Mill, you'll have to settle for cold Cokes and beer. Clean bathrooms, big parking lot, tidy space. Waitress was attentive. The plastic plate, fork and knife were odd to be used in a restaurant. I was surprised and thought perhaps they'd had a power outage and could not wash their real dishes, but I see other Yelpers have mentioned plastic or styrofoam plates and plastic utensils so that is probably the norm. I'd probably stop by again for a beer if I was in the area but on a quieter day, perhaps. read more

We grew up in Hinsdale and have great memories of Salt Creek, the park, and York Tavern, a fixture on York Road. Had a nice time there with classmates at our 50th reunion in 2010. Burgers and a beer. This time was very different and disappointing. The service was wonderful but our food, a meatball and chicken sandwich, was expensive and awful. True Sysco foodservice gruel, not the quality of times before. We won't be returning anytime soon. read more

It was the first time there the doctors nurse that I saw recommended this place our waitress was about 16 years old and didn't know how to waitress she gave us two plastic plates with some dirty jars of Parmesan and basil etc. on top of the plates and wanted us to use those plates after she carried those dirty jars on top we were given to napkins how to ask for more she never came to check and see if everything was OK pizza was mediocre it was so noisy in there and there was only 6-8 people inside I couldn't hear my husband who was sitting across the table as I watched people in the tables next to us the other waitresses kept forgetting things there was no way to walk through this place to get to the bar that's so many tables jammed into this building I'm surprised this place was still in business we won't be going back read more
