This Zaxby's location in Pelham has been one of our staples over the years. It's on the way home, or fairly close for a trip out. I used to be able to leave the house, go through the drive thru, and be home in about 15 minutes. The drive thru has become busy, just like every restaurant with the option in the last 5 months. Zaxby's has done well to be able to make it a fairly quick process, and the line moves quickly. (I think without the dining room being open makes it even faster.) Our family favorites are the Nibbler meal, the Big Zax Snack, the House Zalad, and the Boneless Wing meal. If you prefer a full-size finger, you can always get the Snack or any finger meal with buffalo sauce for a small upcharge. They're also pretty good about customizing your options. You can sub a nibbler bun for toast in your meal, or vice versa. They also have an option to get combo meals without the drink. While I haven't tried all of the sauces, they offer a wide range for any preference. My favorite is Tongue Torch because it's still kinda spicy, but it doesn't have the added butter/fat of the Original which can make it just feel too heavy. Seen the commercials and all the Zaxby's around town so decided after working in the yard I would try it for lunch. I got the big chicken finger meal, which consists of about 8 chicken fingers (could have been 7) cole slaw, fries and two pieces of toast. Service was excellent and very fast as I had just gotten my drink, napkins and ketchup and my meal was ready. Fingers were very good, the Zaxby's sauce is nice and spicy. Came here around 8pm on a weeknight. Food was tasty as usual but the service was very slow. Lots of employees hanging out and goofing off. Took 15 min at the drive thru window with a guy waiting in front of me who had been asked to pull ahead, with a long line behind me. The redeeming quality of course was the food. The wife and I were out shopping recently and we ran up against lunchtime. Not having a particular place in mind, we were open to the first decent looking place we came across. As it turned out, the Zaxby's in Pelham was the place we chose. When we arrived there was no one in line so we immediately placed our order and found a seat. We weren't expecting quick service and settled in for a wait. We were pleasantly surprised that our order arrived rather quickly and it was exactly what we ordered. Now for the taste and appeal. I found the food to be merely acceptable, not excellent. The salad looked a bit stale and the grilled chicken was a bit too salty for my tastes. The iced tea was sweetened the way I like it and the ice machine has the tiny cubes that I really enjoy. All in all, it was a decent experience for a chain place (thus the three stars).
