Ok so look... there are a TON of chicken places around. BUT Waldo's is better. Their bluebird chopped salad with the blue cheese vinaigrette is the stuff of dreams. I seriously keep checking to see if they bottle their dressing. read more

Waldos Chicken & Beer - Ordering counter (background) Boys waiting on their dinner - Chicken Shop Near Me - Pelham, Alabama

First time visiting this location, but second time having Waldos Chicken & Beer. I went through the drive thru and ordered the Tender Lovin Basket with collard greens. They were really quick with their service. Again, the chicken was seasoned very well and served hot. The collards were just ok. They were better seasoned at a Waldos at a different location. However, I really loved the cheddar biscuit. I could ear a whole pan of them. All in all, decent visit and definitely would be back to try other items on their menu. read more

I love fried chicken and boy do I love Waldo's!! I brought my mom to check out the Pelham location. It was my first time dining in and the service was amazing. We ordered at the register and our food was brought out to us promptly. I ordered their fried chicken sandwich with a side of mac and my mom got their tender box combo which came with coleslaw, toast, and fries. I love their sandwiches and how fried and fresh the chicken tastes. Their mac and cheese is always so creamy and one of my favorites. Their fries are so addicting being thinly cut and seasoned to perfection. Great fast casual spot to go for your fried chicken cravings. read more

After reading the reviews of other Yelpers and hearing from one of my co-workers that this place is excellent, I had to come and try it. I was closer to the one in Pelham on Sunday, so I decided to hit the drive thru. This place sits on Highway 31, directly across from Royal Bedding and Encore Home Furniture. I almost passed the entrance to the parking lot, but realized there were a couple of entrances - one up front and another in back. I ordered the 1/2 rotisserie plate with Mac and cheese and tomato/cucumber salad for my mama, and the OG Chicken sandwich with potato wedges for me. I heard great things about the lemonade, so I got us that to drink. The young man taking my order was very friendly and helped me get my order in. I got to the window and my drinks were ready to go. It didn't take too long for my food to come out. The meals looked great and I took a sip of the lemonade. It was good, but didn't have enough lemon flavor for me. My mama loved her meal, but she said there were more cucumbers in her salad than tomatoes. I thought the OG sandwich was flavorful and the sauce they gave me for the sandwich was tasty. All in all, the meal was good. I may go back and try other things, but was pleased with what I had. read more

So I decided to try this new place next to us. I know there's been a Waldo's in Vestavia several years now, but I had never been. My son and I both got the four piece tender combo that came with Texas toast and coleslaw. I decided instead of the Texas toast. I wanted the cheddar biscuits which I got and my son didn't want the coleslaw and want Texas toast which he did not get. Our sauces were wrong. Neither of us ordered blue cheese sauce, but we both got it. We both ordered ranch and didn't get it. I know they just opened so I guess they're working out the kinks. The chicken tenders were OK. The biscuits were pretty good. My favorite was the mac & cheese. The coleslaw definitely needed some seasoning to it. The girl at the window was super friendly and had a smile on her face. They need to put better signs on how to get in and out of there. It's a little cumbersome. We ended up going through the drive-through, but the parking lot was packed. If I go back, I'll probably try something else maybe a salad or something, but I'll definitely get the mac & cheese again because that was delicious. read more

First off this is one of the nicest places to eat once you walk in you are greeted with warm smiles. They have a wonderful, easy menu, and located right off 31 Hwy in Pelham. Now let's get down to the chicken that's delicious and all the sauces hit just right all the time with any flavor you are craving. The open space and bathroom are very clean. read more

I had another location bookmarked but was excited to see the Pelham location now open. I decided to stop by and wanted to dine in. However, it appeared very busy, which is a plus. I ordered at the drive-thru, the Tender Box Combo (3 tenders-Waldo's Tender Sauce, fries, coleslaw, toast and lemonade). The chicken was fried crispy, piping hot but definitely not hard to chew. I enjoyed the chicken alone to get a true experience of the seasoning but also dipped a few times in the sauce. I went with the coleslaw instead of double fries because I wanted to see if I liked the coleslaw as a future side option, not bad. I enjoyed my meal and will return. read more

Waldo's Chicken & Beer is a nice family restaurant! I was greeted promptly upon entering and made to feel welcomed. After placing my order, I didn't wait long and the food came out hot/fresh to order. I purchased the four piece tender basket that came with fries and coleslaw. I wish I could substitute the sides, but I couldn't with the basket. I would have to change my order to a tender "plate" and then I could substitute items. Overall, the fries and coleslaw were still very good. The fruit tea is a MUST to try! The flavors all blend together so well to drive your tastebuds insane (in a good way... of course). Now the banana pudding was PERFECT! It's so good it'll make you want to slap the person sitting next to you. So I wouldn't recommend sitting near anyone while eating it. Don't say I didn't warn you. Lol I give Waldo's a 10/10 for customer service to the ease of placing the order to the complete quality of food given. The restaurant is clean and has indoor/outdoor seating! read more

Surprisingly very yummy chicken. The service was very good. They allowed me to test their hot spice which was very tasty. I recommend this place over other chicken places. read more

Update... they have changed out the stools on the patio side of the bar. The seats are very small and they have metal pieces that big into your hips. They are very uncomfortable. I'm not sure why they have done this. I recommend sitting anywhere but at the patio side bar area. read more

The food was really good! I wasn't expecting too much considering there's also a drive thru but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and taste! The service was quick for food and drinks and the staff were very friendly! This place offers a nice patio with an easily accessible bar, which makes it perfect for hanging out with friends! The patio was able to accommodate our group of 6, no problem. I will definitely be coming back! read more

Enjoyed the chicken tenders. I have seen posts that said they were spicy, I did not find that to be the case. The cole slaw is a vinegar based, so if you prefer creamy it is not. Several different sauces to choose from, so you can find something you like. The service was top notch, several times we were checked on and they were constantly cleaning. Will return. read more

I stopped by Waldo's drive thru to try something else as i had been to another location and wasn't crazy about that i received. I decided on the 1/2 rotisserie chicken, mac and cheese, and potato wedges. Customer service was great and my order was given to me quickly right at lunch time with a full parking lot. The chicken and potato wedges were great served with a Jim n Nics style piece of cheese bread. If i knew they had those i would have ordered a dozen. The mac and cheese looked promising but fell very flat. I would come back again but i think the sides other than the wedges could really use some improvement. read more

Waldo's is a chicken restaurant, and the other places are just fast food. Waldo's offers fried or rotisserie chicken. The sides I've tried are shoestring fries (okay), but the wedges are the best. The white beans have just the right amount of spice. Fruit Tea is always a good choice. The cheese rolls are perfect. The best part is the Banana Pudding. The chicken and sides are the main attraction, but you can also watch a game and have a beer with it. If you're looking for a quieter, more flavorful spot, Waldo's is the way to go for fast; friendly service and watch your sports in a laidback atmosphere read more

We have gone twice within the last month and both times have been spectacular. We love the outdoor dining and we take our fur baby with us when we go. Food is delicious. Both times I have tried a Sammie. One time I got the club and the other time I got the spicy one. It's be best by far! Their cheese dip app is out of this world too. Limited menu but a big selection but what they have they do right! read more

I ordered a chicken breast, wing and fries. My chicken didn't taste like anything no seasoning and the fries were below average. On top of that my chicken was burnt. The bought some more chicken out but it still was nasty and unseasoned. The bartender was friendly though and the beer was cold. If I had to rate this place I would give it 2 out 10. I don't have to come back but good luck to anyone who tries it for the first time. read more

Ordered two three piece meals at the drive through. The chicken fingers were hot, slightly crispy, and salted well. The French fries were atrocious; soggy, greasy, messy. Service at the drive through was polite and prompt but it's very off putting to have a tip request for drive through service. I may visit the sit down area in the future but the drive through service will be a hard decline from now on. All in all 3-stars for really bad fries and a tip request at the drive through. read more

So this is a very big disappointment for me!! Had been told that this was better than most chicken places in the bham. WRONG!!! Let's start with rubber wings!!! We got Lemon pepper wings and the seem to be boiled and baked and dipped in lemon pepper, they were not fried at all. See pic. If you want wings, well Wing stop is the place not here. Wife's tenders were not as good as Canes and they are horrible!! They don't separate the chicken pieces so when you get 1/4 of chicken they are together and a little dry. Not horrible but something I look for when I get chicken. White beans are nothing to write home about. The Mac and cheese however was a winner for both of us. Ranch is Fire! I would say if you're thinking of eating at Waldo's, any Popeyes, churches of KFC is just as good. Waldo's does not come close to the big guns like Champys, Gus's or even Hattie B's read more

Waldos Chicken & Beer - Fried wings that weren't fried. They seemed boiled and roasted and seasoned. - Chicken Shop Near Me - Pelham, Alabama

Went through the drive through window for a positive start. The lady on the mic asked good questions and greeted me with a genuine smile. Tenders and fries were really tasty, the Alabama white sauce was solid. The only negative was a cup for the drink was too small, but that's corporate, not the Pelham store. I will be back - soon! read more

Pros *convenient chicken place *New construction Cons: small chickens Strips Also they are quite fatty Oh the FLYS! When I tell you there was about 20 flys I am not lying. I went to go get my drink and came back there were flys on it. The bar was not open so it was a closed restaurant inside. The manager did come check on me and asked me if everything was okay and I told him I was being attacked by flys. He said that it's really only by the window side of where the kitchen is. He didn't know why they only like that side of the restaurant and told me that they didn't have a problem on the other side of the restaurant. At the end I'm kinda grossed out especially since this is the side that they store all there To-go boxes. I hope that they can get the issue fixed, but the experience was too much for me and I won't be back. read more

I'm a first timer and baby... I already feel like family. Soon as you walk in, they greet everybody like a cookout reunion I mean new folks, regulars, everybody.l! They really knew the customers too, calling people by name like "what you want today, same as usual?" Love to see it. I ordered the lemon pepper wings off the cashier's recommendation (shoutout to them for not steering me wrong ) with greens and mac & cheese. When I tell you they did NOT disappoint?? Wings was seasoned like somebody grandma was in the back, greens had flavor flavor, and the mac was creamy, not that dry disrespectful stuff. Food was hitting, people was friendly, vibes was right. This was my first time but definitely not my last. I already got my eye on the menu for next time. I'll be back! read more

Great service and food was fresh. Everyone was friendly and awesome patio. Dog friendly on patio as well.

Great tenders and the potato wedges were delicious Not many places serve them. Nice to know they have a full bar too.

This little place has the BEST chicken tenders! Great light breading, juicy large pieces of chicken and has a little kick to the coating to make it stand out in flavor. Their mac and cheese is house made, and delectable. The fries are plentiful and very good, even if I do prefer crinkle cut... :} These are shoe-string type, but very tasty. The service is top notch, and everyone is so friendly and helpful. The place is clean, if a bit loud, but that seems to be the case with a lot of family type places lately. Nothing major. Just a noisy kitchen type feel/vibe. I didn't mind a bit. Their dang frozen margaritas are off the chain delicious. I don't even normally like frozen drinks, but I definitely make an exception for these. Super, super flavorful with a noticeable, but not overdone, amount of tequila. They may come in a small cup (not too small, just smaller than I would normally expect) but lord, they are heavenly and more than one would probably be way too much! Not necessarily in a bad way, either! I'll definitely be back. The food is hot, fresh and really good and filling. Great portions, and on, yeah, some of the best in-house ranch dressing I have ever had. Really perfect lunch place for the Pelham folks! read more

Very casual welcoming sporty family friendly setting; food was delicious. Great place for quaint date night or a day of sports.

The service was just as good as the food!! Everyone is so sweet and amazing. My food came out quick and fresh. A girl that works there, I didn't catch her name but she had blue hair. She was so so so sweet but not only that, outgoing and honestly a very active team member with the rest of the crew. If I could I would rate this place a 1000/10 read more

The worst chicken tenders I have ever had. Stopped here for dinner this evening. Food was only warm, fries were soggy. Coleslaw was terrible. I had to repeat my order three times before they could get it right. All around bad experience. I won't be back, to many other restaurants serving much better chicken tenders. read more

We have tried their food 3 times, trying something different each time. First, got a family chicken tender meal. The sides were good, love the fries, the tenders themselves are decent when fresh but the instant they cool they become tough and dry, ended up throwing out the leftovers. Next, got the wings. Ordered them naked with sauce on the side. HUGE mistake! Flavorless, tough, cooked through at least but no sauce is saving those poor things. Got the fries again, they do have good fries! Finally, got their chicken. Large pieces, decent seasoning, decent fry, not BAD chicken, but I can get better chicken elsewhere and FAR cheaper. Terrible value. Overall the service was OK, didn't have any beer so I cannot comment on that, the food was lackluster and in cases rather bad (Those tenders... damn!) They aren't going to poison you, but if you think this is amazing food I feel sorry for you. read more

Got the Tender Plate and it was really, really good....a level above the Zaxbys and Guthries of our area. The Honey Mustard and Tender Sauce were both delicious. Pretty quick service in the drive through too. They did forget the cheddar biscuit that comes with it, and ketchup I asked for, hence the 4 star instead of 5 star. I will certainly will be back though! read more

The pulled chicken sandwich with white sauce and pickles is so yummy. The dried chicken is hot and fresh. Seasoning is just right and served so hot that we had to wait for it to cool down. Nice clean atmosphere, they even have a bar with spiked slushies, and an outside eating area for those fall nights! So glad to have a great chicken restaurant in Pelham read more
