First time visiting this location, but second time having Waldos Chicken & Beer. I went through the drive thru and ordered the Tender Lovin Basket with collard greens. They were really quick with their service. Again, the chicken was seasoned very well and served hot. The collards were just ok. They were better seasoned at a Waldos at a different location. However, I really loved the cheddar biscuit. I could ear a whole pan of them. All in all, decent visit and definitely would be back to try other items on their menu. read more

I love fried chicken and boy do I love Waldo's!! I brought my mom to check out the Pelham location. It was my first time dining in and the service was amazing. We ordered at the register and our food was brought out to us promptly. I ordered their fried chicken sandwich with a side of mac and my mom got their tender box combo which came with coleslaw, toast, and fries. I love their sandwiches and how fried and fresh the chicken tastes. Their mac and cheese is always so creamy and one of my favorites. After reading the reviews of other Yelpers and hearing from one of my co-workers that this place is excellent, I had to come and try it. I was closer to the one in Pelham on Sunday, so I decided to hit the drive thru. This place sits on Highway 31, directly across from Royal Bedding and Encore Home Furniture. I almost passed the entrance to the parking lot, but realized there were a couple of entrances - one up front and another in back. I ordered the 1/2 rotisserie plate with Mac and cheese and tomato/cucumber salad for my mama, and the OG Chicken sandwich with potato wedges for me. I heard great things about the lemonade, so I got us that to drink. The young man taking my order was very friendly and helped me get my order in. I got to the window and my drinks were ready to go. It didn't take too long for my food to come out. The meals looked great and I took a sip of the lemonade. It was good, but didn't have enough lemon flavor for me. My mama loved her meal, but she said there were more cucumbers in her salad than tomatoes. I thought the OG sandwich was flavorful and the sauce they gave me for the sandwich was tasty. So I decided to try this new place next to us. I know there's been a Waldo's in Vestavia several years now, but I had never been. My son and I both got the four piece tender combo that came with Texas toast and coleslaw. I decided instead of the Texas toast. I wanted the cheddar biscuits which I got and my son didn't want the coleslaw and want Texas toast which he did not get. Our sauces were wrong. Neither of us ordered blue cheese sauce, but we both got it. We both ordered ranch and didn't get it. I know they just opened so I guess they're working out the kinks. The chicken tenders were OK. The biscuits were pretty good. My favorite was the mac & cheese. The coleslaw definitely needed some seasoning to it. The girl at the window was super friendly and had a smile on her face. They need to put better signs on how to get in and out of there. It's a little cumbersome. We ended up going through the drive-through, but the parking lot was packed. If I go back, I'll probably try something else maybe a salad or something, but I'll definitely get the mac & cheese again because that was delicious. read more

First off this is one of the nicest places to eat once you walk in you are greeted with warm smiles. They have a wonderful, easy menu, and located right off 31 Hwy in Pelham. Update... they have changed out the stools on the patio side of the bar. The seats are very small and they have metal pieces that big into your hips. They are very uncomfortable. I'm not sure why they have done this. I recommend sitting anywhere but at the patio side bar area. read more

Waldo's Chicken & Beer is a nice family restaurant! I was greeted promptly upon entering and made to feel welcomed. After placing my order, I didn't wait long and the food came out hot/fresh to order. I purchased the four piece tender basket that came with fries and coleslaw. I wish I could substitute the sides, but I couldn't with the basket. I would have to change my order to a tender "plate" and then I could substitute items. Overall, the fries and coleslaw were still very good. The fruit tea is a MUST to try! The flavors all blend together so well to drive your tastebuds insane (in a good way... of course). Now the banana pudding was PERFECT! It's so good it'll make you want to slap the person sitting next to you. So I wouldn't recommend sitting near anyone while eating it. Don't say I didn't warn you. Lol I give Waldo's a 10/10 for customer service to the ease of placing the order to the complete quality of food given. The restaurant is clean and has indoor/outdoor seating! read more

I ordered a chicken breast, wing and fries. My chicken didn't taste like anything no seasoning and the fries were below average. On top of that my chicken was burnt. The bought some more chicken out but it still was nasty and unseasoned. The bartender was friendly though and the beer was cold. If I had to rate this place I would give it 2 out 10. I don't have to come back but good luck to anyone who tries it for the first time. read more

I had another location bookmarked but was excited to see the Pelham location now open. I decided to stop by and wanted to dine in. However, it appeared very busy, which is a plus. I ordered at the drive-thru, the Tender Box Combo (3 tenders-Waldo's Tender Sauce, fries, coleslaw, toast and lemonade). The chicken was fried crispy, piping hot but definitely not hard to chew. I enjoyed the chicken alone to get a true experience of the seasoning but also dipped a few times in the sauce. I stopped by Waldo's drive thru to try something else as i had been to another location and wasn't crazy about that i received. I decided on the 1/2 rotisserie chicken, mac and cheese, and potato wedges. Customer service was great and my order was given to me quickly right at lunch time with a full parking lot. The chicken and potato wedges were great served with a Jim n Nics style piece of cheese bread. If i knew they had those i would have ordered a dozen. The mac and cheese looked promising but fell very flat. I would come back again but i think the sides other than the wedges could really use some improvement. read more

We got Lemon pepper wings and the seem to be boiled and baked and dipped in lemon pepper, they were not fried at all. See pic. If you want wings, well Wing stop is the place not here. Wife's tenders were not as good as Canes and they are horrible!! They don't separate the chicken pieces so when you get 1/4 of chicken they are together and a little dry. He didn't know why they only like that side of the restaurant and told me that they didn't have a problem on the other side of the restaurant. At the end I'm kinda grossed out especially since this is the side that they store all there To-go boxes. This little place has the BEST chicken tenders! Great light breading, juicy large pieces of chicken and has a little kick to the coating to make it stand out in flavor. Their mac and cheese is house made, and delectable. The fries are plentiful and very good, even if I do prefer crinkle cut... :} These are shoe-string type, but very tasty. The service is top notch, and everyone is so friendly and helpful. The place is clean, if a bit loud, but that seems to be the case with a lot of family type places lately. Nothing major. Just a noisy kitchen type feel/vibe. I didn't mind a bit. Their dang frozen margaritas are off the chain delicious. I don't even normally like frozen drinks, but I definitely make an exception for these. Super, super flavorful with a noticeable, but not overdone, amount of tequila. They may come in a small cup (not too small, just smaller than I would normally expect) but lord, they are heavenly and more than one would probably be way too much! We have tried their food 3 times, trying something different each time. First, got a family chicken tender meal. The sides were good, love the fries, the tenders themselves are decent when fresh but the instant they cool they become tough and dry, ended up throwing out the leftovers. Next, got the wings. Ordered them naked with sauce on the side. HUGE mistake! Flavorless, tough, cooked through at least but no sauce is saving those poor things. Got the fries again, they do have good fries! Finally, got their chicken. Large pieces, decent seasoning, decent fry, not BAD chicken, but I can get better chicken elsewhere and FAR cheaper. Terrible value. Overall the service was OK, didn't have any beer so I cannot comment on that, the food was lackluster and in cases rather bad (Those tenders... damn!) The pulled chicken sandwich with white sauce and pickles is so yummy. The dried chicken is hot and fresh. Seasoning is just right and served so hot that we had to wait for it to cool down. The collard greens are delicious as a side item! Service was top notch, help if and friendly.
