I also had the smokehouse burger, and it was hands-down one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Everything tasted fresh and was cooked just right. What really stood out beyond the food was the overall experience. The staff was incredibly nice, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing, which made us feel right at home. The restaurant itself was clean and comfortable, and even the bathrooms were spotless, which always says a lot about a place. It also hasn't been very busy the times we've gone, which made for a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Even so, the food came out quickly and was still hot and fresh, which is the best of both worlds. We actually loved it so much that we went back again just a couple of days later, and it was just as good the second time around. If you're looking for great Southern food, friendly service, and a laid-back dining experience, Dale's Southern Grill is definitely worth a visit. The ONLY thing I didn't like was the kids' chicken finger meal. I tried one of the chicken fingers when biting it to give to my toddler, and it wasn't good. The taste was weird and it was gummy. I ended up not giving her them.

Meat and 3 Southern restaurants have dwindled over the years, but we still have a few that are proud to serve home-cooked meals from scratch. Dale's is a family-owned restaurant, following the meat plus vegetables plus desserts formula that we've always loved. With a cozy diner vibe, Dale's has more booths than most restaurants, plus big tables, so you can easily accommodate your family and friends. There are Southern recipes (I'll attach menus) and daily specials. The daily specials are a steal for $10 from 11-4. The wait staff are courteous and will keep the tea coming. Just like you like it!

Different specials are run daily. The restaurant owners are tech savvy, and specials are posted every day on Facebook. The folks who plated our food were incredibly warm and lovely. They gave my dad an extra corn muffin when they saw he got beans and greens. Can't do that without cornbread! My mom and I both got vegetable plates. We had squash casserole, Mac and cheese, yams, fried okra, mashed potatoes and gravy, and yeast rolls. I know, I know - we went light on the vegetables. Their squash casserole is talked up as their specialty, and it was very good. Nice squash and onion flavor. Mac had great cheddar flavor and wasn't overcooked. Delicious, actually house-made yeast rolls. And the fried okra, heavily breaded, has an awesome crunch! Mashed potatoes were the weak link; I've had much better. Yams were the perfect balance of cinnamon and sweetness, but without being overpowering. My dad got the fried snapper with pinto beans and collards. He liked it all. My mom thought the pintos were too salty, but I just thought they had a nice meaty flavor. Corn muffin was a little dry. The fried snapper was crispy and not fishy at all! Big win there. We all agreed we'd return if we found ourselves in the neighborhood again.

I got a marg ($8) and the baked pimento cheese dip to start - served with pita. ($7) I loved my pan seared scallops with grits and broccolini. The cranberry bacon "jam" really adds so much flavor and create the perfect bite when you add all components together. ($34) Dad and David got the meatloaf and loved. It comes with house made BBQ, potatoes and broccolini. ($28) Perfect for when you want to go to an upscale meal but still have to make your man happy - this is literally a "meat and potatoes" dish. Mom got the Paneed chicken with brown butter sauce, mashed potatoes and spinach. She had no complaints! ($28) Service was very friendly and parking was no issue at all! This is a perfect place for a big group because there's something for everyone. It's casual, comfortable but still feels on the upscale side of things. We will be back!

We decided to give it another try recently and have been back three times. They have righted the ship big time. The service the last three times has been exceptional. From the friendly greets and goodbyes at the front door to the food we couldn't be happier. Tonight Emma took great care of us. She was super attentive and pleasant and her demeanor was fantastic. The previous two visits felt the same. We even met the new GM and to say she has completely changed the vibe would be an understatement. The food has always been great and now the service is equally as good. I have over thirty years in the restaurant industry and I can honestly say these guys are amazing.

The restaurant is in what used to be an Old Elementary School Building and they transformed it into a fully unique experience. The music in the background was soft and the bar and tables looked so nice. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to or visiting Pelham to eat!

Only concern was I asked for Champy's sauce with the tender basket, looked at it in the parking lot and noticed it looked like their honey mustard instead. Tried it, confirmed it tasted like honey mustard, then went inside with my receipt asking for it to be switched for Champy's sauce. Spoke to a waitress (not the one who helped us at drive thru) and I explained that I wanted Champy's sauce. She said "uh huh" confused and I held up what I had saying it tasted like honey mustard. She said yes Champy's sauce is honey mustard based. I told her I've been to (and worked as a teenager) at Champy's before in Tennessee and the color was more yellow than the orange I'm used to (like they added too much honey mustard) and again it tasted exactly like honey mustard. She explained that the Champy's sauce (and red heat) recipe was different at their location. I took her answer and left. Not sure if I indeed had honey mustard (they come in the same containers) and she didn't want to double check or if their Champy's sauce recipe really is just primarily honey mustard. I think the people of Alabama are missing out though on the champys sauce from the original location in Chattanooga, not sure why there is so much variation between locations. Other than that, everything was great!
