Upon leaving Duke Regional Hospital, a group of 8 people walked into the Zaxby's on Roxboro Street, Durham. Weary after a long day of church and traveling to see a parishioner in the hospital, we met Joe, who welcomed us with the warmest smile. Joe not only took our order patiently, as many of us were unsure of what we wanted, but he also took the time to explain menu items we were unfamiliar with and gave directions on how to work the new soda machine. What stood out most was Joe's kindness and genuine concern for making sure each person in our group had a pleasant experience. Despite our large group and numerous questions, he never seemed rushed or irritated. Instead, he treated us with respect, patience, and a cheerful attitude that made us feel valued as customers. In a world where excellent customer service can sometimes be hard to find, Joe reminded us how much a positive attitude and a caring spirit can brighten someone's day. The wings, (well-done as I requested and Joe was certain to note), my fried pickles,and loaded fries were great, but it was Joe's outstanding service that truly made our visit memorable. We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday. Their menu was showing a Windows error, so I just ordered from what I could see - a grilled chicken sandwich. My friend ordered something he gets on the reg. (I've never been to a Zaxby's before.) We sat down in the dining area, and our food arrived just minutes later. My sandwich was kinda thrown together, like someone tossed shredded lettuce at the chicken on the lower bun, squirted some mayo in the general direction, and threw the top bun on as the server carried the tray away. Not a lot of care in the presentation. It tasted OK - nothing like Chic-fil-a's grilled sandwich offerings, but it was Sunday, so this is the best we can get. They do have a pair of Coke machines that purport to dispense all manner of product, but one was not working correctly, much like the menu system. Needed a re-boot. (I was drinking water, but my friend had to wait for 2-34 folks to finish their soda experience before he could get his drank. I used the Zaxby's sauce to try and add some flavor to the grilled breast meat on the bun that had been tossed in my direction, and it wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. It's September and the drive-thru is open but no indoor seating. They've adopted the Chic-fila ordering method. It's good overall and im a spice guy the Nuclear sauce is SO GOOD everything is just good but the bread puts this down a star. It's a bit chewy and soft. Which yeah that's bread but it's toast and I was expecting a crunch. But it wasn't even that bad still tasted good. Service is nice overall kinda basic no rude employees all nice. Very nice actually. Been waiting for this moment for a long time. This is one of those bucket list items that I wanted to try so I'm happy I did. I'm a huge fan of exclusivity when it comes to food. For example how you can only get in and out burger out west or wherever is not close to me. Zaxby's can only be found in the southern region of our country (if there are other places let me know). So when I found my self in North Carolina I had to make a stop. I got the sweet and spicy chicken and the cheddar bites. This was a great combination the chicken was cooked to a nice crisp the way I like it. The cheesy knots were pretty good as well the zak sauce was what put it over the top for me. It was tangy and zesty at the same time. Filled me up and then some I had no complaints. Can't wait to come back and do it all again. Carolina I'm coming back. read more

Saw they had bad reviews but had to stop as I am a zaxby or raising canes obsessed eater. Didnt write a review after my 1st stop but now on my 2nd visit here it is. 1st visit was good just as Zaxby should be. Now the 2nd visit was perilous as the whole block had just lost power. The manager informed us that there was only 1 fryer working but went into the kitchen and worked hard to get orders out. I love zaxbys and this one in particular is annoying. When it comes to fast food people not only expects it to be quick but correct. Couple weeks back i ordered a salad dining in and asked for a to go plate later because i knew i would not finish. The girl said ok but brought a small container. Then i asked for a to go salad plate but she said no. I said well where is the manager? She said well i will just bring you one. This is the third time I have gotten an incorrect order. I am not sure if they are not paying attention or if they cannot hear. If they got it together I would probably enjoy it more. Chickfila has much better customer service. Stopped at this Zaxbys on my roadtrip with my sister. When we pulled up to the drive through the lady was rushing us to order. Then when they didn't give us any plastic ware my sister went back inside and one employee said to the other "you aint lock the door" as if she was saying why is she in here if we're closed it was very rude. Also, my food wasnt even hot it was warm I got chicken tenders and fries with a lemonade. Zaxbys is a chicken joint that serves decent food at a decent price. I came over with a friend. I ordered the sweet and smoky which is a sandwich consisting of two butter toasts and fried chicken with sweet sauce and came with fries and a 22 oz drink for 5 dollars. My friend ordered hot wing that were actually hot. For those heat seekers. The atmosphere was good and service was expected from a fast food place. Overall a good restaurant.
