What a difference a new venue and decor make to my perception that before, Zara was viewed as cheap Euro-knockoffs and now looks surprisingly modern. The Men's section is a little more than a third in floor space--a remarkable size compared to what we usually get in other clothing stores. Throughout the store, the lighting is better, the racks are spaced out, the clothing is grouped in style and not so randomly placed as in their previous location. Zara and H&M are closely linked, style-wise, but Zara has better quality, and thus, higher prices. 07/24/24 - IN W/THE OLD OUT W/THE OLD. The new flagship Zara's is still in located in Old Orchard. What a remarkable difference. Zara's always had a variety of nice clothes but this new store located to the south of the old store is on a different level. The new flagship store has a beautiful exterior facade. The clothes and displays are all new and beautifully laid out. The have a nice assortment of clothes along with/a whole slew of reduced price discounted items on racks & along the walls. read more

To corporate people, as most of your store is directed towards women's shopping, guys some times need a place to wait for their girls to shop and having your security guards policing the guys not to lean on your display tables is very uncomfortable and embarrassing as it happened to me in front of my girl. So please assign a sitting area for the guys to wait just like Aritzia has in all of their stores! The customer service in this Zara is beyond awful. While leaving the dressing room I handed my unwanted items to the employee. She had an attitude and said she would not accept the clothes unless they were on hangers. The clothes I had were pants and were not even on hangers. Any realistic review of this place in early 2022 would really just be beating a dead horse, it really is as bad as the other reviews say. So I'll stick to tips I think will hopefully help if you visit the place. When I went they were still limiting the number of people they would let in the store at a time, so I'd say avoid this place if it's really cold out. The line outside moved pretty slowly. If you're heading in there to do a return from an online order, just know as of Jan 2022 or maybe earlier they can't give you a return receipt in the store for items you bought online. You can still return them in the store but you won't know how much money you got back from the return until later on. And they said there's nothing they can do about it. Also the majority of the people were there to return stuff not to buy new stuff, so I'm wondering if the stuff just looks a lot different online. I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 bc I felt so bad for the people working there who are clearly not in a great place work wise. read more

I was in Yesterday shopping. Lovely store and worker Tomas was a delight. While in the fitting room I over heard a women yelling at him for him denying her access to the Handicapped room bc it is reserved for customers in wheelchairs or mothers with strollers. Of course the women got belligerent and upset she did not get her way but Tomas had offered her mother to stay seated in the large room and have the young women change in the smaller room as a compromise. The women then started yelling at him in his face. People are so entitled these days. I commend Tomas for sticking up for customers shopping with disabilities. I tried to speak with a manager after the fact to stand up for Tomas but could not find one. read more

Worst customer service ever. Deserves 0 stars. The associates were all rude, no one was helpful. I went to checkout with their automatic register, I have never experienced before so I was kind of amazed when I put my 3 items in the bin it registered 3 items, it prompted me to pay with the credit card machine and this whole time there is a processing signal on the screen. After inserting my credit card I was confused why it didn't ask me for a receipt and it said transaction complete and the 3 items appeared on the screen and they weren't my items. I asked for help with the associate since I wanted to pay for my 3 items as marked and not random 3 items. The associate standing over there couldn't even do anything to pull up a transaction without a manager... what is the point of you standing there...and needed to get someone to help. Before she got a manager another associate walked up so rude and immediately accused us for using the system wrong but how are we supposed to know if there are no instructions and have never done it before. A manager, Julia, in the kids department came up and tried to pull up the transaction and she said the system voids any item that is removed from the bin but I said it didn't it had me pay and she so heartedly believed the system is correct and the items void. I showed her on my bank app the transaction went through and she said she promised the pending charge will go away tomorrow I just have to believe her and I said if it doesn't she said dispute it with my credit card. I asked if she could counter the price of my items so I could just pay the difference of what I actually owed and she said no. She then sat there to watch me check out my actual 3 items and make another transaction. I asked her to check for both transactions in their system as they both show up pending on my credit card app. She couldn't find either transaction then. I didn't feel comfortable walking away with anything. Another manager, Omar, tried to help and tried to explain over and over how their automatic register works and will void an item when removed but it did not work how they described it. He scanned all the charges that happened in the store for the last hour and couldn't find either the supposedly voided items and the actual items I bought. He then said the pending charge will go away too and if not file a dispute with the credit card and he can file an incident report. Stood there for 30 mins trying to get any evidence and kept telling them to pull up the cameras to show that those random 3 items were not in the bin when I walked up and they wouldn't, they just kept saying they promise and to believe them the charge will get voided. Anyways a few days later the pending charge went through and I tried to call the store but of course the number is disconnected. So I filed a dispute with my bank and Zara came back and countered. They are liars. Don't give them any business. read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. My girlfriend bought me a sweater and obviously she's not a man to wear it and try it on. When I went home I took off the tag to wear it and realized there was a hole and a stain mark on the shirt. so I went back and asked the manager to just exchange the item out for the same item and he would not let me exchange. He advised me to call customer service and customer service that if they can't exchange it at the store they can't do anything for you. Now I'm stuck with a sweater with a hole in it. If i could give 0 stars I would! My boyfriend purchased a bunch of items for me prior to Christmas and I wanted to return the items that didn't fit. Since it was passed 30 days they wouldn't take any of the product back. had the receipt - all the clothes had tags on them everything! no store credit or nothing. I understand a 30 day return policy but no exchange or store credit? come on! My boyfriend was trying to do something nice - he can't try on the clothes for me. Absolutely ridiculous. I will NEVER shop there again. Manager on site was also terrible to speak with. I work in sales/customer service and we would NEVER be able to treat our customers this way. The selection here is nice. But comes at a price. Much of the staff is rude. There is never enough staff working and the lines are always horribly long. First you wait forever for a fitting room and then wait even longer to pay. The have a guy guarding the door and won't let you in 10-15 minutes before closing. Even when I drove all there way there and got there in time to make a simple return and was there well before closing. I had very bed experience at Zara, Skokie, Il. I was in line for over 45 min. The line did not move at all because there was only one register working and people were returning a lot of items. I recently went into this Zara due to the raving buzz on TikTok and Instagram about the size of the location. I was met with chaos because of the amount of people and clothes I had to sort through to see what I wanted. Thomas was such a great help and allowed me to search for more modest clothes that fit my budget. I am a Muslim woman and it's harder for me to find clothes I feel comfortable in and he was such a great help. Bad experience at this store. A floor employee named Thomas seems to enforced store policy with people he feels he should. A white man was sitting down for a quite a while on a small clothes display. He leaves then and I'm with my mother which is 80 and got a bit tired of standing I tell her to sit down a little on the same display. Mr. Thomas (white man) appears and tells us that we can't sit on the display. Don't get me wrong I totally understand it's a store policy but when he enforce it only with certain people (Ethnicity) in this case, doesn't look good. This place is hell on earth. All Zara locations in the Chicago area are. But no one was as rude as the one of two women at the register. I have gone four times to different Zara locations to return two items. Two times, neither city stores were not accepting returns because they were short staffed and lines were too long. The third time I forgot my credit card so I would only get store credit, which I didn't want. So I came to old orchard. Line was still long, I waited. I knew I was a four days past the return date but was hoping someone would have some empathy and try and help. Not the person at the counter. She kept talking to me like I was five, snipping that "they have other locations" and "we're already in June" so I couldn't return. I told her I understood and that I had already been to both other locations in the city. She snapped at me "it's strictly 30 days. You should've returned it earlier." I work during the hours this store is open. They don't take online returns. Coming to Zara is impossible and waiting in lines is worse than Disney because at least you get a fun ride out of it. read more

I went to the Old Orchard location hoping my experience would be better than the Oakbrook or Woodfield locations. Unfortunately I was wrong. Worst retail store I've ever encountered. I bought a coat last fall that shed like mad and they refused to accept my return. I mean the coat shed all over my pants, purse scarf - everywhere. They mailed the coat back to me in a ripped up box and the coat was just tossed in and not even wrapped in plastic so it got dirty in transit. I immediately disputed the charge and my credit card co. accepted the dispute and I wasn't charged for the coat. Now I can't order anything from Zara online until I pay for the coat. This place is a complete dumpster fire. I've been to many Zaras but have never experienced one like this. There were piles and piles of unfolded clothes everywhere and everything was disorganised. It looked like a tornado had torn through the store. After finding a shirt from the clearance rack, I went to try it on, but all of the fitting rooms were closed. Then I spent 20 mins in the checkout line only to be charged TWICE what the shirt was listed for. Senior management really needs to investigate this place. read more
